January 15, 2004 - Well, it's getting close to the big day. What big day? The one where Ninja Gaiden finally makes it to stores, silly! Take it from us: this game's going to be huge. Every time we play the game, we can't help but feel like a puny ant in its ginormous greatness. In all seriousness, the game is looking and feeling like a million bucks. There's still a lot that is unknown about the game but you can bet we'll give you the scoop once Team Ninja feels like the world deserves it.

In the following thirty or so new screens, you get a glimpse of some new characters and super-freaky bosses. There's also what seems to be a shop that Ryu is in. If anything, these new images are sure to cause a lot of speculation.

On a side note, we've learned that Ninja Gaiden has some more online features outside of the tournament. We don't know much, but we hear that the game will possibly stream data to the game while you're playing, creating new enemies on the fly. Expect to hear more about this soon.

Guys with guns in a Ninja Gaiden game. Didn't I read that the director never even played the originals?

I hope it turns out good as it looks

That online feature sounds neat as well.

Considering they're including the originals (I think the previous 3?) I'd have to say, yeah, he has. He never worked on them, though.

Ninja Gaiden is said to have one of the best cameras of any 3D game ever, according to many, many websites. And it's getting positive hands-on from everybody that plays it.

"I really didn't play the original Ninja Gaidens." - Tomonobu Itagaki, visionary leader of Tecmo's Team Ninja.

Who the fuck cares, in the old one you had a sword and you were a ninja, and it was hard as shit. Yeah, I think they've covered those basic guide lines.

The previous 3 games had gameplay that suited that age. Rather than reflexes, they focused more on remembering the patterns of enemy attacks; they required memorization. It was not about how to kill a group of enemies that fell from the sky all of the sudden; it was about memorizing when the group of enemies would fall in order to proceed in the game. In Japan, we call these sorts of games "Oboe-ge" (meaning "Memorization Games").

Look at that. A quote and a link, unlike you. You're starting to bore me. :o

Viper
01-16-2004, 06:30 PM
I can't give a link because it is in print. EGM issue 175, page 46. He may know of the past games, but he didn't play them.

Didn't I read that the director never even played the originals?"I really didn't play the original Ninja Gaidens." - Tomonobu Itagaki, visionary leader of Tecmo's Team Ninja.
That was my original statement, I just proved myself correct.

Phanty, just stop man. I questioned if I had read something in a magazine, I found it and discovered I had read correctly.....so what is it you are arguing about again?

Michael Bluth
01-16-2004, 06:32 PM
Because you'd have to be a "Grade-A Moron" to think that the guy has never played the previous games in a series that he is developing for - and games that he is including into his new version of said game.

Viper
01-16-2004, 06:34 PM
Phanty, he just frikkin said it himself. I quoted him. Did he lie about not having played them back then? Damn you are becomming more ignorant by the day.

Michael Bluth
01-16-2004, 06:43 PM
Oh okay, just making sure that I didn't quote him either or anything. Phew, that was a close one.

Viper
01-16-2004, 06:46 PM
Why are you still arguing? I stated I had read somewhere that he said he never played the originals back then. Then I found the article. I proved my first statement correct.

Kevin

Well Viper, there is no denying how unreal this game looks. I just hope the gameplay is as good as the graphics, and it might persuade me to get an Xbox.

Michael Bluth
01-16-2004, 06:59 PM
"didn't really" does not equal "have never played before". So no, he didn't, you're just confused.

Viper
01-16-2004, 07:04 PM
OK, let me put it this way. He has possibly played the ones emulated on the xbox, but he had never played them back when they came out. I guess that was too much for you to understand because I said that a few times and you still kept arguing.

The graphics do look good.....however, I kinda think something is missing......they have a voidness to them. I think it could use some more textures here and there (some of the colors look to flat) and the level design would look better if it had more geometry...... And maybe they could utilize particle effects to give it a little depth..............dont get me wrong.......the graphics do look great.........but I think there is something missing

I doubt Gamespot will give it a 9.0. They'll probably give it an 8.7 or so. IGN will definitely give it a 9.3 or above though.
