They seriosly need to work on the sense of speen in motorstorm, its nonexsistant.

I'm guessing the Warhawk control delay is lack of development time. Motorstorm needs a better sense of speed and do somethign with the physics please. It's simply beatiful physics work on some elements and on others there is very little physics being displayed at all and it makes it look really off to see a car realistically crash and break up and then watch 10 seconds later as the tires on the dune buggy get caught up in other cars and rocks and walls with no physics engagement at all. I knew this was going to become a problem. The more realistically detailed things get, the more glaring certain unrealistic flaws will become.
Both showed great promise though as they have dev time left.

Motorstorm is beautiful but still not what was promised... but I think if they focus on effects like more mud splatter they can reach greatness!

More mud, more speed needed for Motorstorm. I somehow doubt physics will be looked into by launch but they don't seem that bad like when cars get "stuck together" while ramming, I always imagine their wheels get tangled, ha.
But speed is unbearable. I closed the video half way because it was really tedious to watch at that speed.

I actually liked the slower speed of this racer! Am I alone on this one?
Also, does anyone think that there is something off with the wheels?

And i thought the speed was fine... towards the end of the vid you get the nice motion blur when he hits the boost.
I cant imagine playing this online ... it would be nutz... This would probably make me remember what rumble could bring to a game before it got so overused I became completely obilvious to it.

Ask yourself this. If you was a Team Dev team would you complete the Physic's which is very unique or would you do the Graphic's and other simpler things first?.
It's common approach to do the most trickiest part ie. Physics first.
The graphic's can always be added later, it makes life alot easier to do the hardest parts first.
That mud is seriously impressive, their technique on using the Cell should be open for other Dev's to see, HDR + 4 Cross AA.

still, it isn't that the graphics aren't good. the thing is they already showed us graphics and physics before. it is only fair for us to expect that level that was indicating gameplay.
speaking of physics, how are the crash effects? I can't live long enough to download the vids.

I'd say don't use target render vids in the first place it would be less stupid if it was made with ingame assets...

Yeah especially since people these days are too stupid to realize the difference between something meant for promotional/hype purposes and gameplay.
Im gonna be so pissed if COD3 doesnt play out like the trailer... they (Treyarch, Infinity Ward, whoever) lied to me. :realmad

Collision seems horrible at the moment, sure to be fixed. I like how all the broken pieces act and roll in a realistic way though, reminds me of the E3 05 trailer.
Enough about Motorstorm, I'm still a bit concerned about the gameplay of Warhawk. It's still way too simplistic from all the videos I've seen and well done for every cloud being rendred in real time and what-ever but really, who cares? The action is no-where as hectic enough for it to be an exciting dogfight game.
I hope the next showing of the game isn't still "yayy, let's just fly around freely without being worried about incoming fire"
Only time will tell.

Hey, don't kid yourself. Some european nations are making it illegal to advertise a game using non-in-game assets. I tend to agree... its fraud. Whether it is a videogame, movie, or body-hair-removal system, you can't make promises of your product then not deliver.

There's a misconception that target renders are a bad thing. Anyone working in Developement will tell you that they give a very good indication and vision as to what you're trying to achieve, the whole team knows your vision.
It sure beats the days of drawing your idea's for spectrum games on graph paper.
The thing I'm not in favour of is using the renders to advertize a game, I would rather see ig assest used anyday.
Z in reply, I was impressed with the crashes in Motorstorm, there are a few points in the stream, were you see a major crash very similar to the E3 Render Target.
Oh and Z you can stream the video from that same site.

you people really need to understand that this game is STILL beautiful and still will be leaps and bounds over any other racer ever made. People have way to high expectations (blame sony all you want for that). All I know is this game looks wonderful and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

My take on Motorstorm is fairly simple and for the most part in agreement with many of you. The sense of speed is not there right now but I take it that is something they can implement in the next few months. The graphics are next/gen but not what we saw in E3 05 but I feel they can get really close to it before launch. What I do hate about the game visually is those stupid sparks from the cars it looks bad as of now and also the HUD...it looks to arcadey and last gen. I feel they really need to change the HUD to make it cooler.
Warwark to me looks really good and fun. I'm not a graphics lovers to the extent that some are so this looks very nice to me. I see it very comparable to E3 05 Video. It looks smooth and very colorful. It doenst look realistic but I don't think that is becuause the designers couldn't do it I think that is just the style of the game. They need to work on the sense of speed for this also.
Both titles are promising and I could see improving greatly by the time launch hits. Neither game is the type of game I would see myself purchasing but for those who like off road racing and flying type games they look like fun and I'm sure you will enjoy them.

Slow? Hells no, I don't think you guys realise just how much land they are crossing, the level is huge, you also have to remember how many enemies are going to be on screen in the final build so there will be lots more action without the need for INSANO SPEED.
Just about everyone complained the same exact complaint on Sonic and Fatal Inertia, I just don't think you guys realise just HOW huge the levels are, look at the ground neer the wheels not in the distance in front of the vehicle, the Draw Distance is immense next gen, it's something we're not use to and I think it's playing tricks on everyones sense of speed.
The game looks like fun, I don't want another burnout where split second movements change the race, I want old school Road Rash racing where you slowly pummel your enemy to win. :cloud9:

Nodieza, the levels are no larger than any other racer I've played. Not even close. In fact I'd say that was a short course and regardless of track size, the sense of speed is still kinda slow. The only time it seemed to truly get up there is when he boosted.

its definately not a vehicle part! look at the ground after the second jump, its crawling along the ground from left to right. its quite clear in this vid but in others i've seen its clearer.

Something that keeps me motivated in following the devolpment of Motorstorm is that video that came out a few weeks back showing the first person view. To me that clip showed a better sense of speed, better AI and physics and lets me know that in due time the entire game could be the same.

I dunno. That Motorstorn video got me less excitet for the game. It looks kinda boring.
Way to slow for that kinda game, and the way they just bounces of one another looks weak.

Or maybe i should complain about how when i see a trailer for a new movie, the actual movie never plays out the exact way, thus luring me into a film experience I wasnt advertised.
which is why I wasnt disappointed, when I realized I wasnt going to get a car flipping over and wrapping around a tree and one going end over end eventually posing a threat to a downed biker.

Just so you know, as of e3 Motorstorm 50% was complete, and Warhawk was 30% complete. So for those who think the games don't look good enough yet just keep those numbers in mind. I just hope that the problems that we have do get taken care of by launch.

Gran Tourismo and Tourist Trophy have the same feeling of utter slowness, unless you play in first person, then the speed really kicks in. I am sure Motorstorm kicks butt in first person.
I was mainly pointing at how wide the levels are, and vast. Not long.
understand all speed is in relation to something. There weren't very many still objects to mentaly say 'wow he flew by them fast', now if you have a city level you have a bunch of buildings that you can use as phsycological speed markers. In other words going 150 through a city would appear faster than going 150 through a canyon.
Same reason Nascar races look slow untill they show that still camera that shows all the cars fly by. So one could say it's also a camera issue.
All IMO of course.
It really doesn' matter to me, plus if you look at the majority of the play test reviews, everyone enjoyed the crap out of it. ^.^

We all know the game wont be on the same level as the demo so whats the point in dweling on it? Take it as it is because you bringing it up wont change anything. We need to just put that behind us and take everything at face value now that we have the real deal. Just my :2cents:

heh, i did. it just says "opening media" and never plays it. i also tried the ftp links to directly download them and it just sits for forever trying to connect. i gave up after 40 minutes...
