Well since I've bought my G5, I've never been able to get full 100mpbs. lan connection. At first I thought I could live it now I am at point of killing it lol. Since I am now transfering files at 1,024kb every minute to minute and a half.

Right now I can only get the internet by configuring the speed manually on 10baset, i've tried 100tx and 1000baset but nothing works other than 10base t I was wondering if you guys have ever hear of a problem like this. Right now I am open to anything haha, Another thought crossed my mind maybe it is my router or DSL modem?

Anyway tech specs if your interested.
Late 2005 model.
Powermac G5 duel 2.3
2.5Gigs Ram
250Gb HD
nVidia 6600 LE 256 Vid Card.
Ethernet: 2 - 10/100/1000BASE - T EDR connections.

Any help would be greatly welcome, I wanted mainly to know if anyone here has heard of a problem like this and where etc.. I think I will call Apple in the for major questions...

Also screenshot of network setup etc.

Did you already swap the connecting cable out, and check for breaks, and the ethernet cable running close to large bunches of wireing, and/or any devices that might cause line interferance?

Have you turned IPv6 off in your Network preferences? Other then that I'd say it's a problem with the networking hardware. You should check that first. Unless you already have...

I Googled "slow powermac ethernet" and not much turned up. I haven't seen anything like this on MacFixIt in the last few months either.

Yeah, I have turned off my IPv6 but then I cannot get anything so I leave it automatic. As the cord everything should be find, when I build this house, we put in a network which is wired RJ-45 but the wires run through the walls. but since this I've switch to test the lines by running them from the switch to my office here vrs cables in walls.

The cable would not inhibit speed in the way you are describing.
What are you connecting to?
(your NIC can only transfer data as fast as your LAN switch/ISP will allow - but most shoudl be at least 100Base-T)

Yeah thats the thing, it is 100baset Switch but somehow when my mac is hooked up it only connects at 10baset, tho if I hook my pc up to the same line I get 100baset. hmm....

Well then it is defiantely a config on the MAC OS side.....
let me do some research, but Eidorian probably already has all the details on configuring MAC eth's.
