Yeah it was but I never played that other game so who knows only downfalls of Wind Waker were the few levels and the Graphics (not that I hate them but I know stupid people judge the game by it)

KotOR didn't deserve best game, but Zelda didn't either. Heh heh.

Wind Waker should have GOTY

KOTOR is over rated in my opinion

Wind Waker all the way. Blaksmoke what are you talking about. These are the two best games of 2003.

Wind Waker was just an average game. Not GOTY quality.

I thought for sure PoP was going to win GoTY from IGN.

PoP was average due to length

Sailing didnt suck. Epona was gehy anyways.

Personally I believe Prince Of Persia should have won it. Putting length and difficulty aside, it was a wonderfully crafted game that can appeal to many people. And it was one of very few instances that a remake didnt stink.

The GOTY 2003 is a severe matter of opinion because not only do the choices cross platforms, but each game was garnered with praise and success. All three games can be considered slightly overrated due to the large fan bases each hold.

But it all comes down to personal taste this year.

On this

Ridiculously easy game play, enemies that forget where you are if you walk 10 feet away from them, easy to figure out boss patterns that require you to do the same thing every time (Hit him with the weapon you got from that dungeon, hit him with your sword, repeat) which is not even fun to begin with. Controlling the wind should be simple, yet it is annoying and not fun, this causes getting from point A to point B extremely annoying, and even less fun than it already is. Nintendo made the horrible mistake of giving you full access to most of the games world once you reached the point of having only one dungeon left, instead of spreading it out over the course of the entire game, causing you to do a shit load of running around at the end of the game, when the final dungeon is RIGHT there! Most people ended up getting frustrated about this and leaving all these items behind. Of course, there's also a section you HAVE to do, the triforce pieces, dumbest idea ever. Nintendo promised to give us stealth areas in this game, and they use it for one level, WTF? The replay value was this horrible picture quest bullshit. There was no voice acting, the game needed more dungeons. One the most memorable aspect of the Zelda series was its music, which had almost no variety to it in this game, almost every piece of music is a different form of the first song, except for the load game screen music. Where's our final epic battle? Oh here it is! Wow what a great idea, the thought doesn't occur to Zelda that she could just shoot with the arrows at Gannon instead of having you reflect it, of course without this there wouldn't be any fun to the last part of this OTHERWISE extremely easy battle, and believe me, I had a lot of fun pushing the shield button at the right time, much more fun than I would of had If I actually fought with Gannon sword to sword. And the brilliant ending! Stab Gannon in the head, and without shedding a drop of blood he turns to stone, simply brilliant.

Edit- I don't know why those question marks came up, I got rid of them.

I can actually agree with most of the things Note said. I really liked Wind Waker, but not as much as I did with Ocarina of Time. There were just a few elements that didnt feel right to me. But it was a good, solid adventure.

I thought WW was over rated, not the most over rated though. I wouldnt give it game of the year. I thought it was a short and easy but fun game.

KOTOR is not amazing. It lasts like forever, but i couldnt find it entertaining. Zelda WW was excellent. Yes the sailing sucked, but once u get the transport song, its not bad at all. Plus it was very unique from the other zeldas. Great storyline too. But WW doesnt really deserve GOTY. I would probably put Viewtiful Joe for GOTY. PoP would get it, but it is not very long.

BTW, GOTY for IGN is dumb. last year they gave it to Battlefield 1942. That game is not that great, but it is good. The single player blows, and online is fun, but Metroid Prime was WAY better. So anyways, i dont know if i can trust them this year too.

PoP was a great game, but I beat it in under 9 hours. Every room was extremely straight forward, and while you have to perform a number of moves to get to the next one, its very easy to tell where to go with a quick glance. Fighting enemies was hard though.

Gunpei I don't know why your trying to fight me, this is a simple argument, on why I don't like this game. It would be a bit nicer, that instead of insulting me, you could actually tell me why you liked this game. If you feel it had enough redeemable features that it deserved GOTY or around there, then tell me what they were, maybe you can change my opinion on this game.

Well I will have to agree with Notedog on some aspects on his post, but I still loved the game. Its probably the worst Zelda game excluding CD-i and GB, but its still a great game and I love the graphics.

My point is Notedog, is that you say the game SUCKS. Well even if you dont like it because its different than OOT, you cant say that the game blows. Hell, i dont like many FPS but i dont say they suck because i know that they are good games for what they are.

Notedog
01-18-2004, 03:18 AM
I said the same thing about Metroid Prime though, I hated it, but I could tell that it was a game that other people could enjoy. I'd hate WW even if I didn't play OOT, a lot of the problems I mentioned are actually in OOT. But the truth is I really think it did suck, I'm sorry I can't agree with you.

Ok, what you said in the metroid thread, that kind of made sense, but now it really doesn't. I am just about the ONLY person on this planet that actually thought that Zelda SUCKED. I have plenty of reasons, now why don't you give me yours? Notice how I didn't say anything about the graphics, that differentiates me from the magority of the few people that DID hate Zelda. I am not mainstream, I am individual if anything.

Why the fuck do people care if they're mainstream gamers? That just means you don't read up on games 10 hours a day.

I really hope that you were talking to Gunpei and not me, because he accused me of being a mainstream gamer, when I clearly showed him that I am not. I can care less if someone is mainstream or not, after all he's the one who accused me.

Making fun of me isn't going to do anything, this is about a game, not me. I suplied what I feel are good reasons why this was not a good game, are any of you going to defend your game? Aerofan113, did you miss the above post? I clearly gave a good reason why I was not a mainstream gamer, and my former post about Zelda, is proof towards it.
