In a lively interview with the Wall Street Journal, Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer compliments Bill Gates' salesmanship and unintentionally reveals his preoccupation (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3172&Itemid=2) with the Xbox 360.

You know what? I prefer this to the arrogance of Mr. Reeves and It seems some people at Sony CE would be inspired to follow the example of their boss...

Look, the skill of Bill Gates is he's so brilliant at his detail that when he slips in the salesmanship, most of us think: oh my God, he must be right. ... He talked on the one hand, and I loved it, he talked about [Windows] Vista [being] delayed as if the delay was normal, and then he started mocking me for delaying PS3 [PlayStation 3]."

The fanboys who would actually use this as debating fuel won't ever grasp the ironic statements either. That's sad.

The obsession is with the competiton with MS and the Xbox 360 not that he plays the Xbox 360 or even owns one.

Salesmanship? God Gates is so boring at that E3 pre show I nearly passed out.

Steve Balmer can sell sand to arabs though.

Lets not even go there, because only 640KB is ever needed to start with...
And there is that Monkey Boy...
If Sony is the disease and MS is the cure, then cure is worse than disease
So its better to resist than to start

Yes especially when the PS3 has launched and MS hasn't sold 10mil. x360
(note "PS3" is in caps, and "x360" is lower case, this is to show PS3's superior.)

I didnt even take my time to read the whole article cuz I guess I already know whats on it.. MS slaming to Sony, Sony slaming to MS; and that goes on and on and on.. I kind of tired u know, u cant expect that ur mom talks crap about u (and claim that their sons are good at doing this or doing that), can u see the analogy..

ACtually Stringer was talking about Xmen-3 and instead of saying X3 he said xbox3, then they started talking about how well Bill pimps his products(genius was the term). Howard surprisingly dished out SEVERAL compliments. The only slanderous thing that caught my eye was Stringer stating what Bill said: Vista being delayed was a good thing, but bashed Sony for delaying PS3. Which is a rather justified point if you ask me....(but I know your not so it doesn't really matter)

what do you mean, the interview is fake? or what?

No, the headlines are just a joke - it's just the online press having some fun. No one is actually trying to convey that Stringer is obsessed with 360 (although I think that's the idea a lot of forums have gotten).

I mean, the interview is real though, yeah.

When talking up the box office sales of Sony's Da Vinci Code movie, Stringer said, "It also beat Xbox 3 in Europe in its second weekend," at which point WSJ tech columnist Walt Mossberg corrected, "You mean X-Men 3." Laughing, Stringer retorted, "There's an obsession!" ... "God I walked into that, didn't I ..."

Stringer was joking when he said it becasue he didn't mean to say Xbox3, but yes the media/fanboys are misconstruing his words
(but like thats news to anybody)

On a serious note I do think Stringer must think fairly often about Microsoft's position in the console race relative to his own company's, so I can see where something like 'XBox' would slip off of his tongue.

ACtually Stringer was talking about Xmen-3 and instead of saying X3 he said xbox3, then they started talking about how well Bill pimps his products(genius was the term). If thats the case someone should change the title, and that another thing that im concern about, the ppl from MS always do think they are always right..
