Reports are beginning to appear on a variety of gaming sites concerning activities at Legend Entertainment, the US-based developer behind Unreal 2, and the recent downloadable multiplayer extension, which is proving rather popular. Anyway, rumour has it that publisher Atari have pulled the plugged on Legend, and that the studio has closed.
No one from Atari has commented on the situation at the moment, but reports suggest that the Unreal 2 servers have been transferred to the publisher, and the Legend website has closed. The Virginia-based developer was originally owned by GT Interactive, themselves subsequently bought-out by Infogrames (Atari). The suspicion is that all employees of Legend have now been laid off, a great shame, especially given the success of the Unreal 2 XMP mode. More as we get it.

Not too sure of the validity of this claim but to lay off the employees at that studio like that is retarded.
