it happens to all of us. we sometimes miss out on great games for different reasons. it could be for lack of purchasing resources, un-supported regions, not owning the mother system, went under the radar, etc.
so what great games you missed out on during your gaming years and why was that?

as for me, one occasion would be Merio64. damn that game was captivating. I have always been a tech fan and I could immediately notice the demands of the game and how well it was executed. I couldn't get it because although N64 was purchasable, the games were crazy expensive for me at the time. I also remember Turok for the same system. I drooled so much they had to wipe the store floor.

I missed out on all the street fighter games. I started playing Mortal Kombat on the Amiga and stuck with the series until the Saturn (Virtua Fighter) and the PS1 (Tekken). I never even played street fighter.

I never got Banjo Tooie for 64, even though Banjo Kazooie was one of the best games ever. And I also didnt get that space game on 64 with that guy, girl and dog. I think it was called Jet Force Gemini. It was meant to be amazing.

I also missed alot of NES and SNES games as I was too young, and a few more 64 games. Ive got all the must-have titles for Gamecube though.

I missed out on the first two Zelda games.
I played through some of the first one, and some slight start of the second one.
But they never really appealed to me in the same way as the following games did.

I missed out on Shadow Of The Colossus and ICO, because I don't have a PS2.
Someday I'll go second hand.

Currently I'm missing out on all the good DS games.

FF7 was my first RPG game and I didn't know the genre even excisted. I became an instant FF fan, but it took me a while to be an RPG fan. by that, I missed on Chrono Cross/Trigger. also, I missed out on Vib Ribbion since it was a Japan-only game. I couldn't find it anywhere.

although I now have the chance to go back and get these games, the RPG ones at least wouldn't have aged well for me. I can't play them anymore. I can't even seriously re-play my Genesis favorites. sometimes, you just can't go back- for me anyway.

I always feel missing out on PC games. although I have a great setup that could handle the best PC games out there, I just couldn't get into PC gaming. Quake2 was the last PC game I seriously played. all the instilation, systep requirements, input controlls are a turn off for me.

I missed out on FF7 also. Not because i didn't buy it and attempt to play, but because about 10 hours into the game I got a "File Corrupted" error in my save file. Fuck that, there was no way i was replaying that 10 hours. i didn't think it would hav ebeen worth it at the time

On that note, the same thing happened to me with Deus Ex 2.
Kinda.

See, I had gotten pretty far, but then when I loaded a savegame I found I had lost ALL of my items, and been turned into a woman.
I never played since.

Perfect Dark..i've never played it.

I only read about how good Perfect Dark was.
Final Fantasy series.
all of it? lol. well, it is still going on so you can try a recent or an upcoming one. the reall sense of 'missing out' is when you know a game or a series is over and you can't experience it as it was meant to be. though it is a new and different FF each time (except for X-2).
if I went back to play Perfect Dark, it would just seem as a mere shadow of its formal self.On that note, the same thing happened to me with Deus Ex 2.
talking about confusing control, it was for a similar reason I couldn't get into Winning Eleven. playing the arcady FIFA too much made it hard to switch to a kind of simulation. when FIFA started to get closer and closer to WE game style, I left it as well.
I should really learn to play WE as it is wildly popular it's crazy. everyone I meant is a WE fanatic. O_o
Kinda.
for some reason, that games was hard to get into. the controls and options seemed confusing for me. I never got past the first 30 minutes. I always lose interest and get sleepy when I play it. goes to show that a game needs more to be popular for you to like. you need to like something about it as well. fame alone won't cut it. kind of like celebraty marriges. ;)

how about this; I re-played 2 disks and it took me nearly two years to finish the game (on and off gaming). the reason I couldn't get passed a boss in the 2nd disk (Rufus -or his bird) was for the simple and innocent fact of me never upgrading my weapon, armor or magic, lol. as I said, I never new what an RPG was and I never upgaded anything in a game before. I change weapons in the past, sure, but 'upgrades' were new to me. when I did upgrade, that boss was absolutely nothing infront of me.

I'm still missing alot of the Must Have games from the NES, SNES and N64 days. Unfortunatly I didn't start buying my own games until this gen, so I only played what my parents wanted me to. I'm looking back to find a lot of those old ones. I started out by getting Super Metroid not to long ago. Man was that a blast.

Can anyone get me a list of the you're favorit games from the afformentioned generations? I'll give rep.

I missed out on FFVII because I was ignorant about Sony. Mind you, I was ten, eleven at the time and I was still drooling over the advent of getting a 64 along with my SNES and NES games. Once I played FFVII, I was hooked. I bought a PS1 just for that system in 1999. There are others, of course, but that one comes to mind most clearly.

lol. well, at least you played 8 and 10, which in my mind are the best in the series. you haven't missed much then in the FF realm. catch up on FF13 and all would be forgiven. ;)

I tried BG and DA for the rave reviews they got. I really don't like the type of these games so I couldn't continue through a demo.

another I am missing on are all the MMOs out there. O_o

just to note; if you are like me and can't seriously play antique games anymore, don't bother. go for FF10, and the coming FF12.

I missed out on Tribes. I also wish I knew what all the fuss was about with a game called *something" Citizen Kabuto. it was about a giant you controlled- or something with a giant. I know it had a giant.

talking about MMOs, there isn't a single MMO that I wanted to play more than FF11. damn that thing is expensive to keep at, so I ignored it. but I always stop and admire any pics or info I come along about it.

I don't even consider them part of the Baldur's Gate series.

yup.

oh? so what the heck was that I played? there were two games that looked very similar. if it wasn't Baldur's, then it must have been the other one.
in general, I don't like WRPGs or hackn' slash games that claim they are an RPG- which sometimes, the two share. ;P

then knock yourself out with every FF and DQ you can get your hands on. lol

I also missed out on Soul Calibur. I love the project name of the SC series "Project Soul". also, they use the famous tagline "the Soul still Burns". damn.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto is the game, its on ps2 for cheap now.

I have missed out on a lot of games. When I was younger I had an NES and I was like to young to get money to buy games, and we didn't really have much money back then. So I didn't get to play many games except what I rented or friends had. Then my cousin moved in with me and she had alot of good games like contra, dragon warrior, blaster master, punch out. Becuase of her I think, I really got into gaming. Although I do remember my aunt got me Zelda for christmas, it was the gold version. It was an awesome christmas thats for sure.

Then my brother got a sega genises for xmas and we got a few games with it, mostly we would only get new games at xmas time.

Then I started saving birthday money and stuff and got the SNES but still didn't have many games, my brothers friend gave me 6 games, including Final Fantasy 2. Played that game more then any other. That, NBA Hangtime and Zelda.

Didn't really start being able to afford games until this generation with xbox, ps2, gc. I have around 70 xbox games, 40-something ps2 games, 20 gc games. Yeah its nice to be able to buy games whenever you want.

Now i'm trying to go back and get games I missed out on. I go to pawnshops alot so now I have like 50+ NES games, like 20 SNES games etc.

Final Fantasy, Contra, Dragon Quest, Super Mario, Zelda, Megaman, Castleviania, you name it... Missed out on it.

Those games were overrated and sucky anyway. I don't think they could have made neverwinter night more boring or complicated if they tried.

ah, yes. that sure brings back warm memories. considerate realitves and friends are the best. I have alot of fond child memories because of them. just remember to do your part. now that I have a good paying job and can affordt to spoil my self a little ( I said a little!) I can do the rest. I buy games all the time that many of which I don't even get to play. I give them to relatives. I get some consoles and handhelds for the little ones as well. nothing beats the excitement in a kids face when you give him/her what they always wanted. and to know you made them that happy adds even more. I always remember how happy and excited I was when I got things that I wanted when I was their age.

something to think about is that some of these kids are actually the children of the people who were so kind to me when I was a kid. :)

spread the love people!

I've missed out on every single fighting game except Mortal Kombat. I've been a loyal MK fan since the Gensis days and I've only tried the other fighters maybe once or twice. I have never played FFVII either because I was a bit to young at the time and didn't even know it exsisted. The first RPG I ever really ever played was FFX for PS2. After that I loved the genre and I've played tons of them since then. I have also missed out on Psychonauts, Beyond Good and Evil, pretty much every Xbox and Gamecube exclusive (except Halo 2 and Fable and Super Smash Bros. Melee) and most PC games.

x-men vs street fighters
marvel vs capcom
marvel vs capcom 2

marvel vs capcom 2 is the best fighting game up to date for me. My first copy broke, so my bro bought a used copy from gamestop for 59.99. Its so damn rare these days.
