a club i'm in at school was cleaning up for the end of the year and found it. it's from roughly 2000, based on the dates of the files on it. it's mac os 8.6, it's got like a 1GB hard drive and like 50MB ram or something retarded like that. it's pretty amusing. i'm gonna see if I can load OS X on it. the wedgie mouse in the pics was taken (read: stolen shamelessly) from my school computer lab.

any suggestions as to what i should do with it? i would have posted this from it, but i don't have a spare ethernet cable lying around, so i haven't been able to hook it up.

the one thing i've noticed is that it's a little bit slower than my other old laptop, which is windows XP. that one's only 2 or 3 years old, but it's been loaded up with all sorts of crap, and it's really shitty. however, this one, which is clearly less powerful, is only a BIT slower. what i've realized is that although it's slow, becuase it's so old, it still seems like it runs exactly as it was intended to when it was made, which is something that can't be said for any windows comp i've owned. maybe next time it need to replace my computer... nah, i could never... *muses*

I have a feeling that it's a Lombard. If you really do have 1 GB of RAM on it you WIN good sir.

Show us the back of the laptop.

Yeah, Eidorian. Kant jew reed? =P

Ahh... the good ol' days when they still put "Macintosh" on their products. When did they change their name, anyway?

Similarly, I found two eMacs in a building on the site where I work. There was always a big room with about 15 Windows boxes ranging from 95 through XP Professional. But in another room across the hallway and down a bit is a small room with two Win2k's and the pretty Apple boxes. Fairly sure they were both running Panther. So next time I get a chance, they will be tinkered with.

The hard drive can't be 1 GB. It can be 2 GB at least. Does it have USB ports? 50 MB isn't enough for 8.6

i don't know how much ram it is. (i don't know how to check on a mac.) the HDD is actually 3.8 GB. i remembered seeing 1GB when i clicked on the main drive, but that was actually 1GB free.

it has no built-in USB ports, but when i found it it had a cardbus USB adapter.

edit: when I go to "About Computer" it says:

Built-in Memory: 64MB
Virtual Memory: 100MB used on Powerbook
Largest Unused Block: 84.1MB

edit2: oh, and,

I assume that means 64MB of ram?

Yeah it looks like a Wallstreet. 10.2.8 is the best you can do without XPostFacto.
