According to Nintendo Power in America, Super Mario Galaxy won't be a launch title for the Wii, but will be released in 2007 instead. I wanted to play Mario immidiatly!

Nintendo Power On U.S. Wii Launch Titles
The latest issue of official American Nintendo magazine Nintendo Power has revealed a number of previously unconfirmed details of the Wii launch, including some of the titles due for the proposed U.S. launch line-up.

Although an official release date and price are still yet to be revealed, the Wii is widely expected to have a near worldwide launch in October or November of this year. According to Nintendo Power, there will be at least two first party Nintendo titles available at this time, in the form of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (concurrent with the GameCube version) and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

There will be at least four third party titles available at the U.S. launch, according to the magazine: Ubisoft’s Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids, Sega’s Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz and Square Enix’s Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors. The latter two are surprising inclusions for the launch line-up, since neither were playable at E3.

Although the magazine seems adamant that Super Mario Galaxy will not be available until 2007, it is more ambiguous with regards to the release date of the Wii Sports titles – all shown prominently at E3 in what appeared to be near complete form. This suggests that the line-up of launch titles is not finalized, and could even include other traditional Nintendo launch games such as Wario Ware: Smooth Moves.

Unofficial Japanese Nintendo magazines have previously suggested twenty titles for the Japanese launch, although they named only The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports, Dragon Quest Swords, Konami’s Elebits and Tecmo’s Super Swing Golf Pangya as specifics.

Nope, I guess they wanna build some suspense. If they were smart they would release it before christmas though, or at least near it.

I already knew about this (infact i think i posted it before) but shouldnt it be ready already? Havnt they been working on it since like Spaceworld 2000?

I think this is an aweosme move for Nintendo

it does two things: Keeps my wallet a little happier or i can put that money towards castlevania/Zelda DS

and lets people pick up third party stuff - which has always been Nintendo's weak spot

This game is being designed by Nintendo EAD Tokyo. It's a brand new game.

^Yes thank you, i know that. But theyve been designing a Mario game for ages and didnt want to release any info on it because they knew their ideas would be stolen. Mario 128 was just that demo or something that was later turned into Pikmin. Or so Ive heard.

I really wish this would be available at launch, though. System launches don't feel right without a Mario title there. Sure, he wasn't there for GameCube's launch, either, though at least his brother showed up for that one, but I'd have prefered Mario back then, too. Don't get me wrong, though. We're still definitely snatching up a Wii as soon as they're out the door, and I'm preordering it as soon as GameCrazy starts taking preorders. I just wish I could have a nifty new Mario title to play on launch day.

That would be great. Mario64 at launch of the 64 was and still is one of the best games Ive ever played.

Its really too bad, too. I really wanted to play Mario as quickly as possible. Hopefully they'll get it out shortly after launch though.

^ Well, I don't care, as long as there are still stuff to discuss.

Anyway, I myself are happy they wait a little, with Zelda and Metroid on launch together with two Square Enix games I must say that my wallet won't take much more, I better start saving now in case the list increases...

Wait a minute. When Nintendo says launch do they mean the period of time considered a launch or launch as in the first day?

There's already more than one title to be considered hardcore flagshipping for a system. Zelda and Metroid IMO make me go "wtf?!" in a good way.

Also HP when was the last time you checked if GCrazy accepted pre-orders? I pre-ordered mine a month a go and put down $50 for one.

Launch typically refers to first week.
