Thread idea stolen from another site. :)
Games you've finished, and what you thought of them. Because boasting rights... Matters... Finishing is whatever you consider an ending, for me, it's when the credits roll. List your current best and worst games of the year so far. One message allowed, re edit it when you finish a new one.
1 - Dragon Quest 8 - PS2
God like. Really got into this, took about 85 hours to finish
2 - Black - PS2
Short, lots of things exploded. Came and went very quickly. Pretty forgetable.
3 - Condemned - 360
Short but hella cool. Definately my favorite 360 game so far.
4 - Quake 4 - 360
Longer but dissapointing ending. Good pot boiler shooter, very conservative but enjoyable.
5 - Call of Duty 2 - 360
Better shooter than Quake 4 but rather conservative again.
6 - Tomb Raider - 360
Bit short really, ending a bit crap. Good while it lasted but more of a rental.
7 - Super Mario Sunshine - GC
Not as good as Mario 64, but good. Does make you want to pee though while you play it with all that water flowing.
8 - Kameo - 360
Short again, but really liked that, rather excellent. I could really go for a Kameo 2.
9 - Ape Escape 2 - PS2
It's quite like Kameo oddly enough. Again, short, think it was pretty much done after 8 hours.
10 - Halo 2 - Xbox
It's an online thing isn't it and I played the single player through. Didn't enjoy it that much, I think I've just over played Halo 1. Couldn't wait for it to end. Think it's a dislike of sci fi shooters too.
11 - Ratchet and Clank 2 - PS2
Teh best game evah! Really liked this. It reminds me of a game I used to play on PS1, Armageddon with Bruce Willis. :) Really very decent shooter pretending to be a platfofmer.
12 - Ace Combat 2 - PS2
On the japanese Namco 50th Anniversary, swift 90 minutes. :)
13 - Project Gotham 3 - 360
Just in Bronze, nuthin' to boast abawt. Got bored and fed up. Very samey with just sports cars. Would have liked more variety.
14 - Lego Star Wars - XBox
Best freakin' kids game evah. Very very easy but fun as hell.
15 - Spyro Enter the Dragonfly - PS2
Bad collision detection, frame rates, loading times. In a way it's kinda sad that we expect so much from games these days, but we do.
16 - New Super Mario Bros - DS
Really terriffic. Great level design they should study in schools, lots of fun, mini games, multiplayer, complete package.
17 - Transformers - PS2
Great fun, bought Transformers the movie before I played it to get into it. Entertains you for 20 hours than sods off with zero replay value, kind of what I want out of games.
18 - Prey - 360
Had it's moments, but too much repetition. Gotta become my spirit guy to walk through the force field and turn it off... again... Incredibly easy. Designed so you never really die and have to repeat a section, ever. Would have been my shooter of the year if it had an ounce of challenge. Didn't beat it, I just got to the end.
19 - Perfect Dark Zero - 360
Finished single player. F*cking diabolical. Worst storyline since Goldeneye Rogue Agent on PS2, stupid AI, team mates who run in front of your line of fire, unsatisfying weapons, dire level design but... Actually fun online. Bitta capture the flag in high def. Overwise I'd have given it worst game of the year.
20 - Devil May Cry 2 - PS2
Pretty bad. It's kinda like Sega made Sonic 2 first, then for the sequel made Sonic 1. But it has it's moments. Even had bugs, managed to fall through the floor a couple of times into freefall.
21 - Sly 2 Band of thieves - PS2
Really sucky year for games, all the best ones I've finished have been from 2003/2004. Here's another one, really great game, every game type you can think of thrown at you. Terrific, wonder what sucker punch are doing on PS3.
22 - Ico - PS2
Finally got round to finishing this. Bit superb. Probably a bit dated now, people would like more boss battles, elaborate cutscenes and the rest, and also... not PS1 resolution, but well good. And if you are playing it... Pay attention to the start.
23 - Lego Star Wars 2 - 360
It's OK, it's kinda a mission pack for 1, very little new here. Banged through it very quickly. Lots of block puzzles. Hmmm... :(
24 - Yakuza - PS2
All done. Very good fun that, nearest I've seen to a game reproducing a real living city, even if it's a pretty small one. And a real melodrama too. Recommended.
25 - Resistance Fall of Man - PS3
Best console fps I've played this year, it's nearly but not quite as good as Half Life 2 I think. Terrific shooter. Superb.
26 - Gears of War - 360
Short yet perfectly formed....
27 - Mario 64 - Wii VC
Really is one of the best games ever made, and to think they made it all with real basic libraries and tools. Just did the 70 star finish, I'll keep picking up stars for months.
Best game of the year finished so far
Dragon Quest 8, total wub...
Worst game of the year so far
On reflection, Devil May Cry 2.
I thought you were only talking about games that released 'in 2006'. hmm, I can't really remember correctly if these were within the last 6 months. this last period has to be my slowest in game completions due to moving out multiple times. here are the ones I think I played within the last 6 months:
a bunch of Neo Geo and Genesis classics (played on PS2 and Box)
KH2:
great boss fights.
GRAW:
urban SOCOM, more arcady.
RR:
drift classic done right. best in the series.
Driver 4:
brought the series back.
Black:
eye candy. lacking everywhere else. challenge anyone to beat my score posted in the game's thread in the PS2 setion!
RE4:
a refresh in the series, though the controlls are still limiting.
-----
games started but didn't finish them:
Tales of Eternia:
like a 3D fighter my eye.
King Fish River:
a fishing RPG. go figure. need alot of time invested.
Tomb Rider: Legend:
someone took my copy.
FF10:
don't understand Japanese.
DQ8:
the FF10 demo missing was too much of a disappointment that it prevented me from wanting to play DQ.
Tourist Trophy:
like GT, it takes super human power to finish it.
Death Jr.:
lacking, unappealing, repetitive, mediocre.
Untold Legends:
sam as above.
Coded Arms:
same as above.
SC3:
couldn't get the controls.
Naruto 3:
can't understand Japanese.
Bleach:
above reason, plus it is the stupidest game ever made.
-
the rest goes beyond six months, so no need to bother.
-
Added:
Just finished Hitman: Blood Money. good game. you have multiple ways of executing your plan. ;P. I am impressed. this is my very first Hitman game. and I really liked the ending. so satisfying.

KH2:
I LOVED the story it made me cry at the end there
The Godfather:
Best GTA knockoff ever and one of the best movie to game translations ever.
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Damn is this game addictive! I even wrote a FAQ for it (and it's the most popular one for the game) I just love it.
Me & My Katamari:
It was pretty good but got boring after awhile
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One:
One of the best WWII shooters I've ever played, very cinematic
Tomb Raider: Legend:
My first TR game and I loved it!
Indigo Prophecy:
I loved the mini game gameplay and unique story
Black:
EXTREMELY hard yet very fun and cinematic
Shadow of the Colossus:
MAN!! This game was just amazing I loved the story and the gameplay (even if the controls and framerate and camera were wonky)
That's about it for me. Most games I get I never finish because I get distracted or they get to boring. Hopefully I will beat more as the second half of the year unfolds.

Ughh... See if I even Remember everything I've played this year...
1. Billy Hatcher: More frustrating than it should be considering it's target audience
2. Cubivore: Fun but really weird
3. Eternal Darkness: Really really... dark. And good.
4. Feel the Magic: Not all that Magical, but not bad
5. God of War: It's violent, and awsome, but mostly violent. YAY Violence!
6. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction: Best free roaming, EVER!
7. Mario & Luigi 2: Not quite as good as 1, but close.
8. Metroid Prime2: I <3 Samus
9. Metroid Prime Hunters: No really... I do.
10. New Super Mario: FLOWER POWER MARIO! 'Nuff said.
11. Rayman 3: He is deffinatly the most heroic limbless guy I've ever seen.
12. Second Sight: Great story, and the gameplay wasn't bad either.
13. Spider Man: Eh... Was alright.
14. Spider Man2: Wed-slinging... yeah.
15. Super Metroid: Seriously... I really really do.
16. Tekken 5: Devil Within was pretty sweet, and those added games usually suck.
17. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Stealthy 'n' whatnot.
18. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell2: Even Stealthier (and more fun)
19. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell3: Well I played the first two and was kinda hooked.
20. Ultimate Spider Man: Missions were good, but Wed Slingin sucked nuts.
21. Viewtiful Joe2: Henshin-a-go-go-baby! Aka Awsome.
22. XIII: I loved it, highly underrated.
I'll update this later, unless I can't find it or I forget.

From what i can remember
1. F.E.A.R. (PC) - excellent game, really good storylline.
2. Far Cry (PC) - excellent game again, not so much on the storyline but everything else.
3. Dead Rising (360) - Probably my favorite 360 game right now. Loved it, still love it.
4. GRAW (360) - is a good game, but could have been so much better.
5. PGR3 (360) - the races seemed kinda boring and really repetitive, just finished it for the achievments.
6. Kameo (360) - Great game, though kinda short.
7. ES4: Oblivion (360) - Excellent, did all the guilds and everything.
8. Chromehounds (360) - Kind of mediocore single player, but good multiplayer.
9. God of War (ps2) - excellente
10. Super Metroid (SNES) - best metroid ever.
11. Chrono Trigger (SNES) - bad ass rpg.
12. Half Life 2 (xbox) - great game, just that without multiplayer on the xbox it kind lacks replay.
13. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (GC) - great, but frustrating at times.
14. Matrix Pah of Neo (xbx) - I liked it. Short though.
15. Morrowind (xbox) - had to beat it before oblivion came out, I think it has more depth then oblivion and like it for that.
Thats all I can think of right now, and i'm really kind of dissapointed with myself.

KH2:
great boss fights.
I second this.
1) Titan Quest (PC) - Awsome game. Best hack n slash since d2 imho
2) Call of Duty 2 (PC) - Another great game. Quite possibly my favorite game ever
3) Burnout 3 (PS2) - Best racing game i've ever played, but it kept freezing on my ps2 for some reason
4) Morrowind (PC) - Finally after 3 years of playing i made a character and brought him through to the end
5) Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Anotehr game i've had for about 2 yaers that i never got around to finishing until recently
6) Splinter Cell: Pandora Tommorow (Xbox) - I hated splinter cell until i played this. This game is incredibly hard and trial and error get annoying but overall it was good.
7) World of Warcraft - Can't really beat it, but i hit 60 and i am now bored out of my mind with it.
8) Time Clancy:s Rainbow Six (N64) haha. i used to play it all the time and i finally beat it this year.
9) Guild Wars Prophecies: Had it for a long time but only beat just a few months ago. The game sucks ass and it was a dissapointment to find out that they completely lied about it being an MMORPG
10) Shadow of the Colossus: Awsome fucking game. Not the best ps2 game i've ever played, but certainly the most amazing and different one, but unfortunately lacks replayability
11) Resident Evil 4 (Ps2) I'm like 30 minutes from beating the game, so im just gonna add it to the list
12) Star Wars Battlefront 2 (PS2) - Fun while it lasted, but the maps are sucky compared to the original
13) Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal (PS2) - Awsome game but only worth playing once or twice.
14) Unreal Tournament (PS2) - Fun to play the original game. Sucky by todays standards.
15&16) WC3 RoC and tFT (PC) been playing them for years, but just finally beat the single player campaigns.
17) Fable (Xbox) - Fun but short and not worth playing twice
18) Godzilla: Destroy all monsters (Xbox) - boring
19) Halo 2 (Xbox): Finally after playing it online at friends houses all the time i beat the singleplayer campaign. People who say its overrated need to stfu. Thats what i would do if i didnt have an army, I'd stfu.. Shut.. The.. Fuck.. Up...
20) The Knights Apprentice (Xbox) - Gay...Gay....Boring....Gay..
21) Men of Valor (Xbox) - Uhg...
22) Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (PS2)- The game froze every 20 minutes, but i finally managed to beat it anyway. I'm not going to comment on whether it was good as i really couldnt enjoy it with frequent crashes
23) Lord of the Rings: The Third Age (PS2) - I hate turn based games, but i played this one anyway just because im lotr's biggest fan. Bad Game, Bad story, Bad use of a license... What more is there to say.
There are a few more but now that im ahead im not going to bother to write them down.
Best Game finished this year:
Call of Duty 2 (PC)
Worst Game finished this year:
Knights Apprentice / Godzilla: Destroy all monsters. They both suck equally.
And on a final note:
Its.. Carlos..... RUN!
I Think You Should have Saved This For New Years Eve Or Sometime In December :) i don't really game, but i think starting in 2007 Ill start gaming, when i have the money.

Call of Duty 2 (PC) -- Really enjoyed this one. In my opinion it had the best d-day in a WW2 game. Kinda short though.
Kameo(360)-- One of my favorites for 360, although short. I think this game shows Rare still has it in em.
Perfect Dark 0(360)-- It was okay online, but the single player was pretty lame, unless played through in co-op. Voice acting sucked hard.
Burnout Revenge(360)-- My favorite 360 game. Online is terrific... i was ranked like 96 in the world at one point. It just never gets old.
Super Mario(DS)-- Short, but loved it. Just like any other classic mario game. It will never get old.
I think thats it. I started a lot of games that i never beat, just because i never had time to focus on them.

24. Beyond Good & Evil: Slow to start and had a little trouble holding my interest, but ended quite satisfyingly.

Ok
DOA4
GRAW
Oblivion
Prey (pc)
Table Tennis
Chrome Hounds
Enchant Arms
Titans Quest
Never Winter Nights
Dead Rising
Half Life ep1
GRAW (pc)
Quake 4 (pc)
CoD2 (pc)
Condemned
Devil May Cry 3 (PS2): Great game and Dante is such a badass. Honestly, i would recomend it for just the aweasome cinimatics, but the rest of the game rocks too.
New Super Mario Brothers(DS): I can't really say anything that hasn't been said about this game, it deserves all of the praise.
Resident Evil 4(GCN): Great game and a blast to play and just kill Zombies/villigers when your pissed off.
Starcraft(PC): Yea, i beat it for like the 485th time, its aweasome.
Devil May Cry(PS2): Everything that was good about 3 cept minus cool cinematics and the 20 useless weapons that were thrown on you.
Onimusha 3 Demon Siege(PS2): The intro is honestly one of the coolest ever (Yea, I'm a cinematics whore) and the gameplay is solid and the characters are cool. only disappointment is that they didn't have other cool cinematics like the intro, but there were cool moments using the in game engine, so i guess i'll let it slide this time.
Fire Emblem Path of Radiance(GCN): I love turn based strat games and this one is a prime example of a great one. Sure, there was too much reading and not enough of the excellent cinematics but the game was challenging and fun, well, except for the last battle which, imo, was a breeze.
Dot Hack 1&2(PS2): Great stroy, good gameplay, ugly game. At least it has the important parts down.
And thats all that i can think of at the moment. I was set to beat Zelda: The Wind Waker, but i got sidetracked and now i have a bunch of half finished games. Gunstar Super heros will prolly be my next completion.

31. Gun: Great game but a little on the short side. Why or so many fun games so short!?

^^ I found that exact answer out awhile ago. It's because "good games" are usually new franchises and they spend so much time making the core engine whether it's graphics, gameplay, or whatever. Then after that they have like 6 months to make the actuall game and all they can do is maybe 6-10 hours of gameplay. God of War was actually surprinsingly long because it took Jaffe and his team 3 years to make. GoW2 is only taking a year and a half because they have the core engines built you see?

Xmen Legends 1 and 2 and Call of Duty 2 (played BF2 a lot). Damn...i need to start gaming. Since college started again all i've been doing is just buying games and let them sit on the shelf waiting on the next time a break comes =(

Well to bump this up I finished Bust-a-Move (SNES emulator) last night! Man that 100th level boss can only be beaten on pure luck!!! It seriously is just luck. I counted and I replayed that level 76 times before I beat it. I don't know how I beat it so fast when I was 7.

I thought this thread was dead. Whatever, here's my final list (unless I finish something up later)
23. We <3 Katamari: More of the same crazy random shit from the first game, with some new fun missions.
24. Beyond Good & Evil: Slow to start and had a little trouble holding my interest, but ended quite satisfyingly.
25. Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance: Fun Hack n' Slash, but starts getting easy later on.
26. Peter Jackson's King Kong: Pretty fun, but kinda short.
27. Lego Star Wars: A blast to play, and ridiculously adorable, but pretty short.
28. Lego Star Wars II: A little bit more fun than the original, but still too short.
29. Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks: Damn... was really short, but a hellova lota fun while it lasted.
30. Kirby Canvis Curse: Been an off and on-er. Pretty fun for being so weird.
31. Gun: Great game but a little on the short side. Why or so many fun games so short!?
32. Mario vs. DK 2: Very entertaining puzzle game.
33. Zelda Twilight Princess: Best. Zelda. Ever.
34. Kirby Squeak Squad: Solid platformer, but I wish combining powers was more like Kirby 64.
35. Elebits: Great fun and tough at the same time. Very enjoyable.
36. Elite Beat Agents: ADDICTING! And zany.
One last one.
37. Chibi Robo: Crazy as all hell and pretty damn fun.
