Okay guys , you normaly get 35$ to trade in your game cube at eb/ gamestop(it may be 25$ not sure off the top of my head) but currently you get an extra 20$ on any hardware traded in.

So its almost doubling the value of the hardware.

I will be trading mine in this week and holding on to that credit for a reserve on the wii when its ready.

Bah! Anyone who trades in systems is a fool. One day in 10 years you'll be like "Oh, I used to have a GC, and there were some really great games on it... now I want one again" and then you'll go back to the store to buy an old one and get buttf*cked on the price.

I have to agree with gljvd - those who are not to attached to their system should trade it in now and put off that money towards the Wii that are able to play the old GC games.

However, I personally will keep my GC (so I completely understand you Koten).

And R2D, if you plan on getting the PS3 then don't waste money on the PS2 (the PS3 probably are backwards compatible with PS2), the PS3 is too expensive that you should invest in two hardwares when you do not need to. If you do not have such a plan then I guess you can get a PS2 relatively cheap. I don't get why you don't want a Wii though, considering the Virtual Console and promising third-party titles (in addition to the astonishing first party ones). Well, you need to priority I guess.

They only give you 25$ in trade in on a gamecube. Is it really worth trading it in for 45$? I don't think so, that 45$ is nothing if you have a job.

45 isn't nothing. 50$ is what you have to put down on a system reserve.

I have a job a good job at that and I'm doing this because for me and for others it makes sense .

I don't see the point in having a second system sitting around doing nothing . I haven't played my cube in a few months , i've beaten all the games and I'm waiting for the wii.

Aside from that , I have a sealed gamecube that has never been open. I collect systems myself. I have systems from the atari onwards that are un open(some were open sadly

Exactly what I was going to say.

I would go and trade in my cube but I don't feel like looking through all the garbage in the attic for it. I think it might be still there unless I threw it away?

Yeah, not worth it too me. Ill keep it around, and ONCE i get a Wii, i wont have any use for it...Hopefully EB will have a trade in deal much like the Xbox --> Xbox 360 one they have right now (Trade in your Xbox for a 360 and get $100 trade in credit...CDN$ mind you)

Hopefully they have something like that for gamecube...and if its more than $40 i'd be down since essentially ill still own a gamecube and save room at the same time.

Now all that would make this pwn, would be if Nintendo let us send in Carts for N64 games we own and then let us download those same games on the Wii...that would be awesome...but its not gonna happen.

The GameCube is just too cute to trade in. (Especially if you have an indigo one!)

It's $30 for the Cube around here so that's up to $50 for it now? It's tempting considering I bought it for $99 more then two years ago.

^ Oh snap. Lucky you, i bought mine for launch price - which was $299 CDN if i can remember...$199 USD.

Oh well, i've had my fun with it and considering the Wii can do everything it can, plus more...its tempting

I dunno, I'm gonna have enough money for one anyways. I only need 75 more doollars do have the suggetsed $250 price tag, but the gamecube is something I will want my children to play, and i don't just want them to play it on the wii. What can I say, Im sentimental like that. I ALSO USE RUN ON SENTENCES!

^Your 15. If you plan on having children by the time they can use the Gamecube you will probably be 25. The Wii will be old fashioned by that time anyway.

You got to start them out right. Something simple, like NES games. Then move them up to learn the basic gameplay and functions of the controlls. If you just start someone out with 2 joysticks and like 10 buttons, they are going to have a hard time figuring everything out (if never played games).

^But the Wii is going to have the basic controller and all that stuff like that.

Oh absolutely, sell your gamecube BUT NOT YOUR GAMES. But you will probably get a better deal off ebay or whatever than you will from EB.

Actually I wouldn't mind trading in my N64 if I could...

About two weeks ago we had the same promotion...but you got 50 instead of 45. I traded mine in then, and I'm very happy I did. I can just use my brother's GCN until I get my Wii.

I'm with Applefiend - if you want to get rid of your Gamecube do so, but for the love of Pete don't trade it in. Sell it yourself. That's an extra $20 you can keep in your own pocket rather than giving it to Gamestop/EB. I like to buy used things from them, but I will never trade anything in to them because they give such a pittance.

Cofey
07-04-2006, 06:46 PM
^When you can get a GCN at EB or Gamestop for only $60, who's gonna buy one from you for any more than $50 anyway? True, some of their prices are shit, but they do frequently have very good deals too.

Selling at $50 is still much better than $20 though. I would stay away from EB unless you're taking about games that are everywhere (ie. EA titles).

Wait, when did this start? Is it happening everywhere? I went to GameStop yesterday and it wasn't being advertised as far as I know.

Either that or I missed the sign or something.
