what games do any of you plan on downloading/buying or whatever for the Virtual Console?
since I was too young to really play the NES I'll probably start there, so far I plan on getting:
Metroid
Zelda
Zelda II
Kid Icarus
...I really don't know what great NES games there are. Help!
I haven't played Majora's Mask in forever and now I feel completely retarded playing w/the N64 controller so I will probably get that
and Mario RPG, I played it but never beat it
there's probably a lot more I just can't think of now

I probably invest in some of those games I'm only able to emulate on my comp now, it's such a pain to use the keyboard for some of those games. I may also get some games from the non-Nintendo systems that have been announced to support the Virtual Console.
I'm to lazy to make a list of all the games I want, but I probably get Mario RPG, any new 2D titles and so on. I'll probably download a lot of games I don't know about now as well as I do hope (and kind of expect) it will be a better selection on the VC than what the ROM sites have...

It's been so long I don't even remember what I liked or not, I will probably know when I see the lists though, But all the early FF's, all the NES/SNES Marios, Contras, and Excite Bike (man I completely forgot about that game, used to love it).

DO NOT get zelda II. I thought it would be pretty cool even though critics knocked it but I was sadly mistaken. It's get so hard to the point that it's boring and frustrating. I know games are supposed to be challenging, but this game is ridiculous. I have beaten two palaces, and I plan on beating the game just because I am in love with the zelda franchise. I guess what I am saying is, don't takee the game lightly and don't get unless you plan on spending hours just to find one temple.

if it only costs me like $5, I'll take my chances on it

Oh, I forgot to say that I mostly hope that third parties may consider making RPG\Adventure games previously not released outside Japan aviable on the VC, translated of course! - It's talk about a considerably huge list, even just to the SNES - Albert Odyssey, Angelique, Bounty Sword, Dark Kingdom, Elfaria, Emerald Dragon etc. etc. I would easily pay 4$-6$ for a SNES RPG\Adventure game that have been updated with an English translation. :)

Chrono Trigger is a must... (my mate stole my old copy ) and probably Final Fantasy II and III (the ENGLISH II and III that is) for the SNES. Majora's Mask (which I never played... because I didn't have that crappy "memory expansion" ding-dong), SF64 and... that's probably it for the N64. As for the NES... I can't imagine buying anything but Kid Icarus... the rest are too easy to have fun emulating, unlike SNES games.
As for all of you Mario RPG perspective buyers, good choice. That game is one of the best RPGs out there IMO. The final boss is a bitch though.

Its the hard that makes it worth doing... the easy makes it not worth doing

Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan) was my favorite in the entire series to date. Chrono Trigger was also terribly popular as well, so these two shouldn't be a "probably" but a "definitely" for anyone that enjoys RPGs.

Final Fantasy III was amazing... ahh, I remember going to my friends house and playing the *crappy, thrown-in* multi-player. Good times. Goooood times. I tried to emulate it several times, but I just can't get into emulated RPGs. Something about using the keyboard.

Final Fantasy III has been reworked for the DS, I think you guys should consider picking it up for the DS instead rather than downloading the retro version. Here are some sweet pics from the game, I recommend checking them out, as you guys will definitively understand why the game is so nice on the DS:

I wouldn't know what RPGs to "definitely" get besides Mario RPG, like I said before I have played very few RPGs
If Sega is doing this virtual console thing then they better have Shining Force 1 and 2. Best RPGs ever.

Best RPGs ever.Nintendo have confirmed that both Sega and Hudson combined have more than 1000 games planned for the Virtual Console, I would be surprised if the Shining Force series would not be one of those titles. :)

I own almost all of the NES and SNES games that I deem worth buying already. I'd like to see Joe & Mac and Clayfighter 2 for the SNES though.
Also, for Genesis, Decap Attack and Toejam & Earl would be great.

Theres a backlog alot of Genesis games that i hope will make a showing if nothing more then to show the gaming populace that didnt start during that era that you didnt need fancy 3d what-cha-mado to be a good game, same goes for the SNES though.
Kinda odd question though but wouldnt old school PC games like DOOM, or DUKE NUKEM 3D also fit the bill?
Seems like if they snag some PC game companys they could expand alot.
Theres a really a old SEGA PC game id give my left nut to see on the VC- Rocket Jockeys.

What I hope is that third-party companies decide to put PS1 (and maybe even PS2) games on the VC - that would be such an amazing kick in the butt for Sony (drools at the idea of Sony being pwnd). *laughs*

The thing is, Sony licesenses the games to put on their consoles... So I doubt they would get away with it legally if third parties decided to do that.... Of course if it was a multiplatform game then I doubt they could do anything about it. But PS1 and 2 exclusive games are going to have to be counted out (as much as it would kick ass to do that...)
Anyways, I'm not planning on getting the Wii, but if I do, the genisis collection better include Sonic CD... I never got to play that and I seriously want to.

Of course if it was a multiplatform game then I doubt they could do anything about it. But PS1 and 2 exclusive games are going to have to be counted out (as much as it would kick ass to do that...).That's not how it works, a license means that the third-party are allowed to publish games for their console - not that they are restricted to put those games on other consoles. It is the third-parties that have copyrighted these games, not Sony, so Sony can't do a thing about it if a third-party decides to port a PS1 or PS2 game that they have copyrighted over to the Virtual Console. :p
Exclusive games are games that are not released on another console. For example RE4 on the GC was an exclusive, but Capcom, because its shareholders requested it, ported the game to the PS2 a year later. - So exclusives can be ported just as much as multi-platform games, that's the third-parties decision, not the console developers.

^^ Along with Shining Force Scenario 2 and 3. :)
What I'm looking forward to are games that I don't have, ie. Japanese-only classics which are only available through emulation. I am not really looking forward to Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy III since I have several copies, on SNES, PSX, and eventually DS. I don't require another version on the Wii unless we could download games for free if we already own a copy. =p
