Ok I CAN NOT wait for the Wii anymore, it is driving me up the wall. November seems like so far away. I need soemthing to keep my mind off of it. A life might help, but I need something besides that. HELP ME!

Errr... well you could do something like.... pick up a random huge cookbook and learn how to cook every recipe in it with your eyes closed... and only using your ankles. I know that would surely keep me busy. But seriously, we are all getting edgy waiting for our consoles of choice. Patience man... as hard as it is, patience.

Buddhism teaches patience, but it is also against the collection of material objects. I am a terrible Buddhist.

I myself are using the time to shop, I don't need to pre-save much money as I earn enough per month (I guess not everyone can afford my shopping habits though). Lately I have started using ebay to shop, getting my hands on games I never got the chance to get my hands on before, like Duke Nukem Zero Hour for the N64 etc. I am especially looking forward to when BG: Dark Alliance and Skies of Arcadia plumbs into my mailbox.

Anyway, what I'm saying is that I ensure I got other things than just the Wii to look forward to, things that do not have such a long wait time. I think you should find something too that will help you get your mind off the Wii for a moment.

^ Well, I didn't say you should do exactly like me and shop stuff to get your mind of the Wii - be creative, I'm sure there must be some other things you can do to get your mind of it, stuff that don't cost money.

Sit on my ass and eat! No I'm over the whole childhood obesity thing and am in the best shape of my life. I guess its because school's out and baseball practice doesn't resume until August. I just need something to fill my month of July.

Yep games I missed out on are taking up my time for now. Just got metroid prime 2, its good. Then i'm probably going to get some DS games. If you don't have the money you could always borrow games from friends and beat them. That is if you have friends with games.

i've gotten a bit restless. i'm usually patient but i'm just not when it comes to the Wii.

i'm trying to save money for different things but sometimes i go over board in my spending and end up not saving for the month.

in the last 4-6 weeks i've bought

Resident Evil 0 (GC)
Resident Evil 3 Nemisis (GC)
Dr Kawashima's Brain Training
DS Lite
Nanostray
New Super Mario Bros
Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes
Resident Evil Chainsaw Controller

and i think just before all that, i got Donky Konga, DK Jungle Beat, 2x bongo controllers

so yeah i've been making myself busy with buying this stuff. but it just makes me less patient because i keep thinking "how would the Wii Remote make a game like this play better?".

even for games that i dont buy i think that.

one thing that went through my head is "would Nintendo make WiiSports: Winter?"

then i'd get crazy ideas about how each winter sport would best utilize the Wii Remote.

and it just goes on like that for me.

i really need to figure out (find) a way to get my ideas into games.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is simply one of the best role-playing games ever made....

This is a rare and remarkable achievement--a huge, open-ended, complex, detailed role-playing game that's fun to play and a pleasure to behold. Oblivion not only delivers everything that earned the Elder Scrolls series the devoted loyalty of a huge following of fans, but also significantly improves on the weaknesses of its 2002 predecessor, Morrowind. Morrowind earned recognition for being one of the best role-playing games in years, but the immersive and long-lasting experience it provided wasn't for everyone. Oblivion is hands-down better, so much so that even those who'd normally have no interest in a role-playing game should find it hard to resist getting swept up in this big, beautiful, meticulously crafted world.

Is the Elder Scrolls IV worth a purchase? Definitely. Currently, it's as good as gaming gets on the Xbox 360. If you're an RPG fan, it's an incredible experience....

The game is huge, with enough content to last an incalculable amount of time. As deep as single player gaming gets.

Tired of real life? Have one of those pesky spouses who irrationally demands attention? Regular bathing got you down? Well, thanks to Bethesda and the Elder Scrolls series, you won’t have to worry about any of those things anymore! The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is here, and in an age where massively multiplayer role-playing is all the rage, this is first official massively single-player RPG experience for the next generation of gaming systems....

For those used to linear, Japanese-style role-playing games, Oblivion will seem like a revelation. All the games in this series have been known for their sheer vastness and freedom of choice, but the Elder Scrolls IV takes that concept and runs with it. This is a huge, gorgeous, and playable adventure that is sure to cause players to happily lose track of hours, days, and possibly weeks or months.

Just saying the 360 does have at least one great game.

^ ghost recon is also awsome though not as massive as oblivion. currently working on hard mode on it. and the 360 has a lot of great games coming out. bioshock, mass effect, lost planet, gears of war....

and thanks guys i had my mind off wii until this thread showed up :( well to keep my mind off it i just hung out with my friends went to the pool. just do what ever you feel like doing and get your mind off the wii.

Do what i do and smash stuff with a hammer made from a log till your happy and drooling tired.
It does seem that while waiting for a new system many of us have opted for spending money on stuff we missed first time around like DS games we kinda wanted or finding cheap games.
Kinda ironic that while craving a new fix of one thing we fill the void with anything we can.

Just saying the 360 does have at least one great game.Well, I got that game for my PC - so no, the 360 do not have any good EXCLUSIVE games right now (IMO). This will perhaps change with time, if you consider temporary exclusive Action\FPS games to be good (temporary exclusive = released a year later on another system, like the PC).

EDIT: Woops, sorry, I got Elder Scrolls III, not IV, duh... but if it have not been released on the PC yet then it will soon so it's still just a temporary exclusive at best.

He is confident in his product. The past iteration of the playstion brand outsold both competitors five to one and even helped one of the great console makers themselves bow out of the race only to put their products on his machine.

He is still a cocky bastard though.

Ah, the perfect time to use my "Nintendo was too arragant" speech...

Yeah but Nintendo, as far as I am concerned, had no reason to be quite THAT arragant. Did they even have any major competitors that weren't knocked out of the race early back when the Nintendo was racking up sales? (It's an honest question, not a rhetorical one). When the Sega Genesis came out, Nintendo edged them out by no substantial amount of sales. (Remember that is only up against ONE competent competitor. The N64 (And Sega Saturn) were both ousted by a machine that stayed out on the market for ten years, from a newcomer to the market and even outsold the next-gen's newcomer in one of the most important regions (PSone outselling the original Xbox for quite some time in Japan). Sony's next venture, the PS2, went up against THREE competent competitors. It destroyed one completely: Sega (Or at least was the straw that broke the camel's back) and only made the other two companies look like jokes with its ridiculously superior support, prodigious sales record and amazing brand recognition. Not trying to sound like a fanboy, just always wanted to say that and play devil's advocate.

Anyway, I needed something to do so that post was a five minute time waster. I need a Wii to fill up my boring times!

Lynk Former
07-05-2006, 10:27 AM
Nope sorry, Sony doesn't have a good reason to be arrogant either. No company who wants to keep their winning streak has a good reason.

Hrama
07-05-2006, 11:34 AM
Errrr yeah, never said they did. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance and Kutaragi passed that long ago with some of those comments above. Just stating that perhaps they at least have more of a reason to be arrogant in their current position then Nintendo was in theirs back in the day, not to say that is a reason to be arrogant at all.

Lynk Former
07-05-2006, 02:00 PM
Was a smaller market back then and Nintendo also dominated the handheld market. I see no difference.

Shade Valkyrie

Well, if the PS3 is supposed to be a computer then I can already tell that it is possible to get a quite capable PC for just 800$ - and in addition to play DVD's, MP3's and CD's (and more) without extra equipment they often also come with programs, like Office and web-browsers - A PS3 will be a very poor computer for a horrible stiff price...

Well, I apologize for my rude language in advance, but... Sony piss me off the more they open their smelly mouth (only shit comes out of it obviously). Well, the lossers are those who actually invest in that pathetic excuse for a console. Even though the Xbox doesn't intrest me I must say I really respect MS as a company compared to Sony, both MS and Nintendo put their effort into perfecting the console formula, not re-inventing the comp.

Getting a job imply's you don't already have one. And therefore living expenses would be taken care of. Jobs work wonders. I'm saving up for both a wii and a PS3. Got to pay for gas and a third of my tution, but I usually can put away somthing. I've got enough for a wii and a couple games. (asuming the wii is 250)

Who's 15? I'm not sure who Crow was directing that to in the first place.

But in any case, it's sounding like it's the poeples fault for not having enough money to buy the product rather than the company's fault for not selling the product at a more accessable price... just a thought.

thing is did you take into account allowance rate also?

lets say a game here in australia is $100AUD. and a kid gets $10AUD/week allowance. thats 10 weeks to save up.

now in US same game may be $50US and same kid (if in US) would probably get $5US/week allowance. thats still 10 weeks.

pay rates (or allowance) are also different becuase of the dollar values.
i know that the maths is a little off because $1AUD=$0.75US. the thing is that kids in each country will probably take the same amount of time to save up for games.

but i dont even know why i'm going on about this. what is the thread topic? and what does money have to do with it? seriously i dont know.

Lynk Former
07-10-2006, 03:13 PM
Yeah, I did take that into account, in fact when I was a kid 10 bucks a week was all I got. It was enough, I saved up enough for games, as for the console itself, I always got one for christmas or for my birthday, and if I already had a console, I got a game instead. And then there's other kinds of money to take into account, like birthday and christmas money... if you're really into videogames, you can find ways to save enough money to buy those games if you want.

I managed to get 15 games, 3 more controllers, 2 rumble paks and a memory card back in the Nintendo 64 days.
