Kikizo: I am guessing you're thinking seriously about PS3 stuff right now, what can we expect from you on the PS3 side of things?
Itagaki: Of course I am a developer and a programmer, and I am very curious about the PS3 architecture, so I am studying all about it. Last year I did not have enough information on it! But now I know enough about it, I think it's a pretty exciting time.

well itagaki works on whatever is the most powerful console at the time. So, we'll see. Maybe an original title. I couldn't care less though.

I couldn't care less about DOA, but I'm partially curious about Ninja Gaiden. After all, I have some good memories of Master System's original title. It was really tough by the way.

hmmm....even though DOA is my favorite fighting series(no not for the females but for the gameplay and because i love seeing hardware pushed to the max graphically at that time) i could live without it. there's always something else. what's good out there?

Allow me to piss off a few of the Itagaki fans(if there are any)
I hate people like him with an attitude. Gimme the humble Fumito Ueda, Kojima and Miyamoto(just saying) and I'll be a happy PS3 owner.
Him? He's just gonna jump ship as soon as there is another next-gen console. Talk like he owns everyone else on it too and begone with another one soon after. Not really a dependable fella and I don't respect him for that alone.
PS: I don't care if anyone disagrees with me. It's my personal opinion of the guy, that's all. Don't jump on me!

Personally I don't give a smurf what Itagaki thinks of the consoles, is he making a PS3 game? Or is he not? It's a very simple question. If he's not, then he needs to get lost as far as my PS3 game purchases are concerned.

The DOA games have improved a lot since their last outting on PS2. You can't do cheap counters anymore and there's a lot more depth since the old days. An enhanced DOA4, cos most people thought DOA4 had great backgrounds but underwelming characters, would go down very well.
And remember DOA4 is online, and online fighters are very rare on Playstation.
You know, more the merrier...

doa's gameplay is just really buttonmasherrific imo. in virtua fighter, button mashing is null and void from the start (to the point where it's not even funny. I just tell my friends before turning it on, 'don't try to button mash, it's no use). In tekken, I can at least shut down anyone who is a button masher, so the skill heirarchy is there. But my roommate who has a 360 and doa4, I can beat him sometimes (after not playing a doa game since doa2hardcore) just by timing my mashing.

I'd rather play Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, or even the new 3D Mortal Kombats which are suprisingly good, certainly.

Grab Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance for PS2 out a bargain bin, you'll be amazed by how good this game is.
The recent 3D Mortal Kombats are better than DOA, absolutely. But they don't get the love, shame.

it's midway's own damned fault for running the franchise into the ground before deciding to actually make good games again. as a result they lost money on all those flops and lost the overall positive gamer image of mk series.

Yeah...the system wasn't bad at all-I would Whoop on my cousin severely with Sub-zero-but it is Midway's fault for losing that good image. Whatever tho-Soul Calibur, Tekken, VF, and DOA are the top guns now...

The new mortal kombats are horrible, I cant believe anyone can play those games.
As far as DOA being a button masher, well to a point I agree although playing skilled players a button masher will lose everytime. I like DOA for what it is and it is not a deep fighting game, although it is a gorgeous fast paced online brawler.

I dunno bout anything recent wounding, but I remember Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance was out around the time of Tekken 4 and I played it more than that game...The combat system wasn't deep-but it was easy and surprisingly fun.(even though the characters looked liked molds of clay..lol)

They aren't for everyone. I'll admit that. But they weren't to bad, IMO. The new MK series, I believe, are nothing more than an instant fix. In other words, they are designed for the general audience to quickly jump into and start playing. So I would probably classify it as a more family friendly game with a gory touch. :)

Well, I also find that's exactly what makes DOA a good game from a sales standpoint -- it's approachable to both casual and experienced gamers alike (boob physics has something to do with it, but that wears off quickly). A casual gamer can pick it up and play reasonably well, while an experienced player can get into it to an extent and play exceptionally well. And even without button mashing, a novice can pick it up and be able to get by without doing insane combinations and counters and just timing the simple stuff intelligently. In practice, that's actually probably the most difficult thing to do in all of game development.
My problem with the MK series is that for so long, it's been built around the opposite premise. You're completely dependent on combos, juggling, fancy moves, and just memorization of esoteric button combinations or the game is basically out of reach. Granted, if you can memorize them, you can get through the game rather easily, but you can't get by without them.
I used to hang around people who were sorta like Tekken champions during the days of tekken 3 and TTT. No amount of cazy button mashing could get through these guys, Fingers with infrared laserbeams to pon point exact time to press a button. These guys used to go to comeptitions and stuff ( I was well schocked then to find out there was a Tekken championships.)

Now, will this materialize into some fancy games on the system? I wouldn't count on a NG2 since fans of the first ones are Xbox adepts and I highly doubt Microsoft would sacrifice one of the rare successful Japanese franchises they've got. DOA could probably go multiplatform but, again, Microsoft would presumably not like to see system killer apps that conjure up the platform identity migrate toward other horizons...Maybe another original IP? Who knows?

I'm not fully buying the rumors on Ninja Gaiden 2 as a multi platform title. Team Ninja isn't really a large developement studio at all. So I'm thinking a multi-platform title like this would be a too much of a burden on the team. If anything were to go multi-plat, I'd wager it being something like Beach Volleyball or the DOA series since they are rather short.

Fo' real?! In that case, they can keep their Beach Volleyball! I was quietly hoping for either NG2, or a new IP...but not DOA! Aw pleezzz...
For all the fans of DOA, you can always turn to the 'net for real titties! If it's the interaction you want, then a girlfriend should suffice. Hell, even a ho would be good enough for a quick 'tittie' fix. Just don't pollute my PS3 with that nipple fest of a fighter.

Well, there is also an up side to this as a small possibility. Since Ninja Gaiden is a more complex game than others, Itagaki may want to get the most out of it, which is probably why he searches for the most advance hardware. So I'm thinking there is a chance of the title ending up on the PlayStation platform.
