I wouldn't have believed I would ever say this game doesn't look that bad just a while ago, but it does look very good compared to similar titles. I still don't think it is totally great, but now it doesn't feel so disappointing. It won't be a too bad game in the end.

They have alot of time and work to do. Co-op is always a plus though.

its amazing how things progess(when you patiently allow them to that is....)
I have to say I am not surprised, gameplay was elluded to be amazing, so all they had to "tune" was graphics. The funny part; there is still plenty of time to do more tweaking!

Wow, this game has come real far along. Check out the comparison from a screenshot from March

I believe and I'm not sure if its correct , but they droped the res to 720p instead of the 1080p it was orginaly planned for .

Looking much better though. The characters in that first screen look kinda painted on though

Those dont look bad there but when you start to look at the rest of the screenshots available it goes back down hill.

but yeah there has been improvement since March

last i saw(the official website) they did drop it to 1080i, but I didn't hear anything regarding 1080p to 720p, but you could be right........

There's only one enemy type throughout, with no variation in their weaponry, what's all that about?

it could be 1080i .

The 1080i is slightly more detailed but produces motion artifacting . 720p is slightly less detailed and produces no artifacting.

I think the performance between the two wouldn't be much diffrent . Slight edge to 720p though.

Either way , the drop in res to a more managable target will increase the visual quality greatly

the only model iwth the animations complete ?

Or perhaps the only updated model for the new target res

i agree somewhat, but like i said given the time they have left(And the tiem they have had thus far), there is a potential for fine tuning to increase available "raw power" consumption to allow for equially impressive 1080p graphics. basically, dropping res is teh "easy" way out - IMHO

I have to disagree. 512 megs shared isn't going to be enough for the texturing. The quality lvl avalible at 720p/1080i isn't there for 1080p .

First off your rendering 3 times the pixels , which will requrie some where around 3 times the fillrate , 3 time the pixel shader power and more space for textures as lower ress textures wont look proper

going by what "we" know, you may very well be right.......although I believe it can and will be accomplished. Its not how - its when!

I'm guessing that is all they have ready, you couldn't get a way with that now, they know that.

I also think it will happen eventually, it is just to early for that now.

@anyone Which one is smaller 1080i or 720p and by how much? I can never remember the accual dimension for either of them.

I don't think we are going to see 1080p for big games. Mabye xbox live arcade type games.

1080p is just a very large barrier and I don't think sony crossed it. Its 3 times the work in almost every area over 720p.

I konw they sure wouldn't have the time to do it in less than what 5 months

Well if Wardevil can be rendered at 1080p, I see no problem rendering these graphics at 1080p.

I didnt think that Wardevil was actually on a console just a demo from everything that we have been shown.

Now that I think about it maybe it was announced for the PS3, but anyways I doubt that it was running on PS3 hardware (the demo anyways).

I'd wait till people play war devil to see if the image quality is the same and if its at 1080p.

Even HS was dropped down in res
