2006 TGS to be "largest ever"
Web site touts this year's Tokyo Game Show as biggest to date; 134 companies will be stationed in 1,072 booths.

A new update on the Tokyo Game Show Web site bills this year's event as the "largest ever." With 2006 marking the event's 10th year, the show will feature the biggest number of exhibits yet, with 134 companies signed up to for a total of 1,702 booths. In comparison, last year's TGS featured 131 companies with 1,433 booths. The event is organized by the Computer Entertainment Suppliers' Association (CESA) and Nikkei BP and partly sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

Needless to say, the presence of next-generation hardware will loom large at the show this year. However, the TGS Web site also touts the current shift towards fiber-optic network connections, and the new expansion of online gaming this is bringing in Japan, as another trend to watch for at the show. In addition, workshops for game industry professionals will be held during the TGS Forum 2006. The sessions will cover five areas: online gaming, mobile-phone gaming, characters, developers, and the newly added finance & market category.

The Tokyo Game Show will be held September 22-24, at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. Advance ticket sales will begin July 19 at select convenience stores, game shops, and Internet cafes around Japan.

Sony confirmed that PlayStation 3 and its software titles will be playable at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show on September 22 - 24, in Tokyo, Japan. PS3 will launch in Japan on November 11, 2006.

It's obvious, but confirmation anyway.
The question is tough, which new games that we have not play or seen at E3?

I doubt we will see any gameplay footage of MGS4, the best we may see is a new trailer and perhaps an interactive demo (i.e. interactive camera)

PS3 hardware units spread across the floor with playable games would really be positive for Sony.

- I wish they show the extended trailer of FFXIII from the E3 Squeenix conference(it had a lot more realtime gameplay[Dragon Boss fight] than the Sony E3 Conf trailer). Or better, show a brand spanking new trailer + FF Versus XIII ;)

- I wouldn't mind the release date of Crisis Core for PSP as well.

- Resident Evil 5 , Devil May Cry 4 ingame videos. Would be awesome to hear Onimusha5 is coming to PS3.

- Pro Evo Soccer, Silent Hill 5

- Sony's Eyedentify playable gameplay. Plus , if it exists, a live demonstration of the rumored minority report interface. hehe

- A new PS3 RPG announcement from Level5. Wohooo that'd be fantastic!

- Lair gameplay footage

- Soul Caliber IV for PS3 ;)

- Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier for PS3

- Ratchet & Clank PS3

I'm tired. Expecting too much but not on MILR level so no worries ;)

That feeling is called 'hope'.

Don't put your hopes up so high only to have them dashed, like everyone was (except some sony loyalists and the realists), coming off the high of e3 2005 into e3 2006 and then reality set in and everyone set the sony bashing to Maximum. IMO you can look forward to something without getting your pie in the sky hopes up so high. That said, I look forward to TGS. Chances are it's gonna just be telling the japanese market about stuff that we saw at E3, with some new information from a few of the japanese companies, but don't get it in your head that another E3 is coming for sony to 'makeup'* for the May conference.

*I don't really think they need to make up for it, but that's what the popular thinking is at the moment.

I definately want to see PS3 RPGs. Right now the competition is looking stronger on RPGs... That's not right...

hehe, lets hope so! I tried to focus mostly on stuff that has already been shown in one form or another. Only a few oddball entries in there, you can see ;)

IMO, The only person that qualifies for that is MILR. As I can easily picture him post tgs putting out threads of 'Why Sony didn't disclose RSX details at TGS' (hehe, he's a good guy nonetheless).

The rest are mostly realists and have their ground realities checked just fine. :thumbr:

hehe :stirpot:

I definately want to see PS3 RPGs. Right now the competition is looking stronger on RPGs... That's not right... Very true. Just look at the Wii - DQ, LoZ, Fire Emblem, and Camelot's RPG (think Golden Sun next-gen). That system definitely has grabbed me.

Sony has more than a dozen RPGs for the PS2 and eventually many more coming to the PSP, so the PS3 is definitely going to follow. :)
