With recent flurry of news regarding MS introduction of Music/Video player with WiFi and Live compatibility to take on iPod. Though this is not particularly revelant to PS3 as such but Sony failed with its connect idea.

This device is being developed by Xbox team, so there would be a definite xbox angle to it. Sony should swallow the humble pie and buddy up with Apple, to stop this gadget plus xbox becoming a threat to PS3 and also going by "Enemy of my Enemy is my friend". There should be a PS3 and iPod connectivity to fortify PS3 further as media center. Currently Sony is not in any position to compete with Apple or MS in the digital music player/distribution and its better for Sony to buddy up with Apple, so that both Sony and Apple can take on the common threat MS & Xbox.

These are just my opinion and would like to know what others feel about this. I am for PS3 & iPod integration and want it to be done right from the start. This would be a wonderful news if Sony/Apple annouce it but I am just daydream with nothing else to do. Sony might take a hit in the short run but in long run this tie would pay off for Sony definitely.

I was under the impression Sony and Apple already made a deal(like a month ago) that made the two online shop combatilble. THe headline was somethign like "Sony finally bites the bullet."

*goes off to find article*

[EDIT]
SEVERAL articles since at least January of 05 have speculated of a deal between the two to fight the giant that is MS. Only they have become more prevalent as of late.

Sony has enough irons in the fire with the launch of the PS3 and getting a solid line-up of BR titles as well as a good stand alone BR player on the market before Christmas.

Im sure Sony could attempt to thwart the item but I dont really see what there would be to gain for them. I personally dont see the item becoming very popular even if Sony did want to put a hamper on its market penetration.

Everybody would like Sony and Apple to join forces to beat off the Redmond hoards....

Sony and Apple have joined forces before, the original PowerBook was a Sony design.

The PowerBook 100 was released alongside the 140 and the 170. While these two models were based on the same motherboard, the 100 had a more simple motherboard design, and was desiged and manufactured by Sony for Apple.

Even the xbox 360

There is still a possibility that Apple are in the works with Next-Gen consoles.
