I enjoyed the post, definitely something refreshing after all the negative news about PS3. Kudos to the poster for taking time to put together the information in a more coherent fashion and very nice.

You can post a link in one of two ways. Both methods uses the key-word "URL".
The simplest method is: Link[/*] (where the "*" should be replaced with "URL" and "Link" with the link you are posting to).
The other method is: [*=Link]Text[/*] (Where "Text" can be an explantion of where you are linking).

Example of method 1: http://forums.e-mpire.com/index.php
Example of method 2: E-mpire Forums (http://forums.e-mpire.com/index.php)

Shade, he physically can't create links yet. We have a new filter in place that prevent users from being able to post links until after 15 posts. It's a big anti-spam/advertising deterrent.

I'll edit your post for you.

The Playstation is capable of outputting 1080p signals through all of its outputs, though it is possible that with blu-ray movie playback, a token(ICT) can be present which forces down-sampling of 1080p to 540p if the signal goes through a non-certified interface (non-HDMI).

I thought you can use high definition without ICT until 2011-2012. Is this statment true?

yes it is true that there is the possibility of ict being used but they(movie studios) have promised not to use it until 2011-2012.
you need to read it all my friend then you will understand what he is saying.

Thats why he said "can be present", because it isnt always present and it isnt going to be put into use until 2011 I believe and even then it is only an optional feature.

It isn’t quite clear at this point though whether or not Sony is using a standard 2.5” SATA drive. If they are, then you could upgrade a PS3 hard drive as soon as any consumer SATA drive is released.

Sony is using the 2.5 SATA drive. It has been confirmed a long time ago.

At last week's PlayStation Business Briefing in Japan, Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi revealed that the PlayStation 3 would have a 2.5-inch, Linux-based, 60GB hard drive. He also made it clear that the hard drive will be required, as Sony is telling developers to create PS3 games that will run on a console with an HDD. "We view the hard drive to be mandatory for the PS3," he said.

However, Kutaragi danced around the question of whether or not the PS3 will come with a hard drive. "We might end up installing it in all PS3s, though that depends on the market," he said. His comments raised the prospect that the PS3 could be sold without a piece of hardware needed to play PS3 games--in effect forcing consumers to buy a peripheral for basic functionality. It also raised the prospect that, like the Xbox 360, the PS3 would have multiple SKUs at different price points.

Now, though, reports have surfaced claiming that Sony has confirmed that the PS3 will indeed come with a hard drive. Along with a number of European sites, GamaSutra is reporting that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe PR manager Jonathan Fargher has officially said that the next-gen console will be packaged with a detachable 60GB HDD. He also said that higher-capacity HDDs will be available as premium add-ons, though he did not list any specific storage sizes.

Can someone translate this so that the Average Joe can read it? It is very confusing for a non-computer programmer to understand this.

that article from gamespot was not actual confirmation but was speculation based on a news report that had to be translated. :)

I should not have slept in Computer Science and let people do my work for me.

The picture that I looked at appears to be a 2.5 inch. I guess we have to wait.

i think he was referring to the fact that we do not know whether it was a standard 2.5 or not.

I doubt it because MILR is more concerned about the potential "upgrades" to the RSX than the already released information. MILR believes there's a large conspiracy behind the RSX info being pulled from the current specs list and is dedicated to solving this mystery...

yes but maybe reading a post as long as this one might sober him up a bit. lol :)

100+ Posts Indeed there are... The same could have been said about this board a few years ago. Alas, the same cannot be said now.
Yeah I can't understand most of the things he typed either. Now, now, I'm sure the pretty diagrams will suffice .

MILR believes there's a large conspiracy behind the RSX info being pulled from the current specs list and is dedicated to solving this mystery... Yes... Despite the fact that the "facts" are pointing towards the opposite direction. Ah well, we shall let him do as he wish.
