I picked this game up yesterday..... and I'm glad I did!

Having recently played "Legend of Heros"... and giving up on it.
(Yawn).

This game is very nice. Being I'm a FFXI junkie, it's amazing the similarities it shares. The first town looks like a FFXI town. Town is broken into "zones". Market, residential, port, square.

There are residential houses, and npc's all over to explore. Npc's give you missions, which will then appear in your mission log (Example, deliver map to so and so. Find me a so and so item).

There is crafting...
Not so complex (skill up, levels) as in FFXI, but neat anyway. You get an item "appraised" to break down its raw materials and then you have the recipie (which it keeps track of in your menus-- THANK YOU).

Each recipie has an elemental attribute (which different characters have affinity to) and depending on who attempts the "synth" of the item will play a part in determining both the success and may make a better item (HQ) as far as stats go.

The world is in full 3d, with rotatable camera, even the field maps. You get maps for everywhere. There is a first person view also, although it can only be used while standing still.

They are visible on the field map!!!!!!

They are represented by skull icons. The color of the skull tells you approximate strength. You can target these skulls and click em (just as you do with npc's, treasures, and doors). When you do this it will tell you what type of mob, and if there is a single, or grouping.

Battle is what I call real-time/turn based.
After you make a move a mini-timer rotates (wait timer). When it get's around to the start you can make a move again (attack, items, etc.). This goes on while the enimies are also attacking.

I am only about 1.5hrs into the game and this is only a really early impression, but so far it is the best game (keep in mind Im a ffxi junkie) I've played on the psp by far.
