My brother just got a new ipod video (30GB, black) and we're trying to import some videos into itunes so we can convert them to the right format, and then transfer them. but we're stuck at just that: importing them. when i try to add a video file to the library, nothing happens. any idea what's wrong?

What kind of file are you trying to import into iTunes?

I had to steer my friend in the direction of some third party programs in order to get it to work, albeit I'm not the best person to help you out here.

Try here (http://us.gizmodo.com/gadgets/portable-media/getting-videos-into-your-5g-ipod-for-free-131966.php)

I've tried adding videos to iTunes that are normally played through WMP, sometimes they'll be added, sometimes they won't.

Yeah, as far as I know iTunes won't except every format that you try to add. Some more obvious than others I guess.

Is there a program that would convert the WMV files to MPEG-4?

Check out that link that I gave there now, I'm not too sure, but if you research it a little bit I reckon you'll find out in about five minutes. ;)

the link you gave is for some sort of DVD ripper. I just want to be able to copy .avi files from my desktop to itunes.

Check my previous post Zeep, that's what you need.

i've tried that one, and it didn't work. it would say that converting finished instantly, without actually converting anything. it basically just made an empty file.

Just go to Download.com and type in "iPod video" into the search area. Then when the results appear, you'll be able to choose free licence. You should see a few programs to choose from.

Can anyone explain why my QuickTime videos are coming out in this weird invert effect?

Whoa. Ever so slightly scary that.

I'm really not sure why it's like that though.
