I'll just post random football related stories or something in here from time to time...even if nobody responds

I think rookies are definitely overpaid

agreed?

They're all overpaid.

yeah but rookies should have to prove themselves in the NFL before getting those ridiculous contracts

I bet Reggie Bush gets more money than Vince Young

I'm one fo those that believes the proof of ones talent on the field is directly related to the talent of his teammates. Put LT behind a poor set of lineman and he'd be a nobody running back (well, almost).

I think they should be paid as a goup based on overall performance. It would also hold the coaches more accountable. Bonuses would be paid for beyond the NFL average performance.

Yeah, the fact that those stars in the sports world get paid so much money kind of ruins watching the games and following sports

Here's a random football story

One of the Browns big signings has his season end before it begins. Talk about bad luck!

The Browns definitely improved last year under Romeo Crennel and I believe that the will keep improving this year, but Bentley's injury is going to have a huge impact on the team

I think they should really do one year contracts rookie year with clauses that prevent the player from just leaving for another team the next year. That way he makes a much lower salary his first year and then after the season is over a team can decide how much his performance was really worth and give him a multi-year deal based on that.

I agree that teamwork is the most important thing behind a winning team, and that every great NFL player owes his success to his teammates. There are always great players on not so great teams that shine on their own though. And for the second part of your post, you're saying that every player in the NFL should be paid the same amount of money and then be paid bonuses for their performance, right?

Sort of. A base position pay with incentives based on above average performance. Bonuses paid for winning teams.

This will increase individual effort as well as increased team effort. It also protects teams from injuries.

Shouldnt the players be protected from injuries as well? I may be a little bias because im gonna be the number one pick in the 2011 draft but..yeah

Players play for the team so I think they are covered either way :)

That would definitely help out with the salary cap, but I don't think it will ever happen. There are too many greedy overpaid players who would never allow this to happen.

Strike.

this is really gonna hurt Kansas City

Ha thats probably true, I think Smith had one TD pass the whole season. If I were a 49ers fan I'd be wishing Leinart had gone pro a year earlier...he probably does too

any Tampa fans hear that the A-Train is coming back for his final season?

fuckin awesome!!!

Yeah I'm glad he's back but it sucks how he has not had much to do the past few years besides block for fucking Micheal Pittman...Cadillac Williams kicks ass though

That's just sick. I don't wish him ill will personally but I hope he flops just to teach teams a lesson.

It's complete bullshit. Making more money than the best in the game your rookie year, what the hell is that?

double post oh no!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2531789

I can't stand guys who do this, have so much God-given ability and they just throw it away.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2533758

I hate Steve Smith and the Panthers. And Keyshawn.

Edited by Matt. Add to your first post rather than double-posting please.

Did not hear that, I just know he has been playing in the CFL

His numbers in that league have been much worse than the NFL

I'll try and find his stats there sometime

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2534056

I'll update it once I get the numbers...he probably got some crazy ass contract
