I always thought that controller design looked a bit over the top. I mean i could see why they would make it such as, for the tilt for feature...but still just looked like it was a bit to much. I mean it looks cool, but im sincerely glad they reverted back to the good ole fashion Playstation controller design.

That box looks sharp. That could sell a lot of consoles. It sure looks well done.

I'm not sure why that's up on the Amazon site, but it's definitely a created image based around the old PS3 (E305). So, though new to me, the picture itself can be deemed as being 'old.'
Not that it doesn't look great though, it's just that the present situation is different.

Although it does look pretty cool. I thought this wasn't the official design and only a placeholder they put up a long while ago? I remember seeing this atleast a month or two ago.
EDIT: Crap, xbdestroya beat me. Lol

So im thinking, will the $599 version come with a memory stick ala PSP and a HDMI cable?

I would be shocked if the $599 version does not come standard with a HDMI cable... Also, Sony should take a page from the PSP launch and include a free BD movie with the premium package. :clapping:

A memory stick bundled with PS3 when it will have a standard built-in 20/60 GB? C'mon, man.

Yeah a memory stick. Hardrive != portable saves. Unless you can access your save on the drive through the PSNP..................................

the harddrive is removable.

sweet design but that model prototype ps3 is dated now.
It's unnofficial.

Yeah a memory stick. Hardrive != portable saves. Unless you can access your save on the drive through the PSNP..................................PS3's HDD is removable. You can take your HDD with you to a friend's house with another PS3 and play your saves, music, videos, demos and whatnot.

You still don't get it. If I want to play Tekken with you, wouldnt it be easier to just use a memory stick than hook up a drive, and besides you cant have two drive installed at once.

That silver color is so E3 2005. The new and only available color is the black(or black w/chrome). Besides, tiny images reek of photoshop.

Easier, yes. Convenient, yes. Impossible, no. Besides, as you said, PS3 will act as a media server over the internet and game saves may not be out of the question! And there's no need to have two HDDs at once!
Sypher
08-11-2006, 08:18 PM
Exactly! You cant have two drives in at once. Your whole arguement is that i can bring my HDD over an load my saved character/profile and so can my friend, but you can't at the same time, therefore memory sticks are needed. Why else have slots for them.

I will end this whole debate, because the PS3 will not come with a memory stick. If you have a cell phone with a SDIO card you can use it for small save files like character profiles. (I think the premium PS3 will only have the slots unless you buy a USB adapter...)

All right then, but I don't think Sony will bundle a memory stick.

SDIO cards have nothing to do with this. Watch, PS3 premium will come with a 32 or 128 memory stick.

Sure it will...
Also, it will come with a coupon for a free 50" 1080P Bravia television, I can't wait for November! :drunk:

You guys realize it would cost less than a dollar for sony to give a 32/128 stick right?

This was actually just a photoshop someone put together on one of the forums a few months ago. I forget where it first surfaced, but it was started as a subject of what the person expected to see included with the PS3.
It never was anything serious or official.
EDIT:
It was made last year by Asianboy5 on the IGN PS3GB. He just photoshopped a mockup using the PSP package as a guide. Nothing to see here folks.

Try multiplying that by millions of units...
When you are losing money on each console sold, why include additional cost if not absolutely necessary. Adding a memory stick is not going to influence gamers to pay for the premium PS3... It's that simple.:dollars:

Sony should
$600
Have cool content on the HDD or little demos
Bundle with one game
2 Controllers
60GB HDD
2 USB Cables
$50-100 Pre Paid Card
Ethernet Cable
HDMI And A/V Cables
PS3
Instruction Manual
$500
Game demos on HDD
Bundled Game
2 Controllers
20GB
2 USB Cables
$50-$100 Pre-Paid Card
Ethernet Cable
Component Cables and A/V Cables
PS3
Instruction Manual
That would be a amazing deal and Sony should make the dual SKUs have the content and items above.

Pre-Paid card???
I guess this would be like XBox live points, for downloading games/content?

I bought an HDMI cable from ebay last week. It costed me 13 € and it's new :) It's in mint condition, so it was worth the risk since I can't find HDMI cables cheaper than 50 € anywhere else. Despite the good condition I won't know whether it works until I buy my PS3 though :-p
