Welcome to the Premiership Betting Challenge!

The idea of this challenge is to predict the scores of Premiership matches. We will be predicting the scores of 5 Saturday matches. If there are not 5 matches taking place on a Saturday, then we will simply bet on the ones that are being played.

I have placed pieces of paper with the team names into a hat. If it turns out that two of the teams drawn out of the hat are selected, then the first selection will be kept, and then I will select another one.

I've also devised a little scoring system. Simple really, if you correctly predict the team that won the match, then you will receive 2 points. If you predict the score correctly as well, then you will get 3 points.

In the event of a draw, you get 1 point. Though if of course you predicted the game would be a draw, you get 2 points, and a correct score will be worth 3.

I'm also going to have to ask you guys to submit your scores on the Friday at the latest. I don't want people coming on half way through a match (like I did in the World Cup thread :-D). This will also cover for if there are early kick-offs.

Okay, let's get this baby started! The first five teams out of the hat are:

Middlesbrough
Newcastle
Watford
Portsmouth
Bolton

So the fixtures for this week are:

Reading vs Middlesbrough
Newcastle vs Wigan
Everton vs Watford
Portsmouth vs Blackburn
Bolton vs Spurs

Here are my predictions:

Reading 1 Middlesbrough 2
Newcastle 1 Wigan 1
Everton 2 Watford 0
Portsmouth 2 Blackburn 2
Bolton 0 Spurs 3

Sorry guys, I've been a bit busy the last couple of days, so this thread competely slipped my mind. I think we'll leave it for this week, I don't want to draw the teams and then only a few people are around to bet on it.

Kiwi
08-27-2006, 06:52 PM
OK, to make things easier (and by that I mean easier on me :-D) I'm gonna just draw the teams for the next week straight after I've counted the scores.

Arsenal v Middlesbrough

looks like watford's 11 man defence will get them a draw

If it wasnt for the fact that in 3 of there 5 games so far they'd been the most attacking team out of the two playing id agree with the 11 man defence thing.

Watford have never been a defensive team when i saw them many times in the championship last season they attacked no stop, the reason that need to change now is that every point counts they can't attack non-stop and risk losing because that'll see them relegated (which they wont be).

Only team to of attacked more than them that iv seen was man utd which is understandable....I havent seen highlights of the villa game so can't comment on it, but any point is a point gained rather than 2 dropped for a team fighting relegation

Just watchin higlights great save by foster (thanks utd) from petrovs shot.

Im going to see watford vs Acrington stanley on tuesday n than watford vs fulham the following monday....GET IN THERE!

Watford shoulda won imo, great saves from kings vollley and mackays header

edit: I was the ONLY person to get an exact result this week...god im good :)
