Here are some quotes about BUSH SR's Gulf War. It talks about the undeserved hype that Bush sr. gave the whole conflict.
Hyping the Iraqi Bomb by Atomic Scientists David Albright and Mark Hibbs
"Two days after a November poll concluded that Americans would support a war
in the Persian Gulf if it would keep Iraq from getting the bomb, President
Bush suggested that Iraq's bomb was only months away."
"Credible estimates of the amount of time Iraq needs to produce weapon grade
uranium range between five and ten years--just about where they were when
Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait on August 2. But that message was distorted
for a few weeks in late 1990, while the United States prepared for war."
"The administration was not the only source of the exaggerated claims,
however. As the United States prepared to go to war with Iraq, the
interests of the administration, some nonproliferation experts, and media
feature editors coalesced. Together they escalated Iraq's nuclear threat on
the basis of sketchy and sometimes bad or incomplete information."
"The complex process chain from uranium ore to weapon-grade uranium metal was
ignored. Richard Macklin, a senior researcher at the Uranium Institute, a
London-based industry organization, who was interviewed by the 60 Minutes
team, said afterward that CBS "simply assumed that Iraq had a complete fuel
cycle." The report also ignored the fact that Iraq has possessed for several
years hundreds of tons of natural uranium concentrate (yellowcake)."
"In its assessment of Iraq's nuclear threat, the Boston Globe,
for example, attributed a serious mistake-the assertion that Iraq could
already enrich uranium to weapons grade-to experts from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and the Washington-based Near East Policy Research"
"The zenith of hype was reached on December 16, when the London Sunday Times
asserted that Iraq had mounted a mammoth nuclear manufacturing effort which
put Saddam Hussein only months away from a steady stream of bomb-grade
uranium. The article claimed that the Iraqis had not only completed
development of single centrifuges, but were also mass-producing them and had
built an enrichment cascade light under the noses of IAEA inspectors, at the
Tuwaitha Nuclear Research Center near Baghdad."
"This time, however, the allegation was so massive it had to be checked
out-and it could not be substantiated. In re-reporting the story on
December 22, the New York Times concluded, as most experts had earlier, that
Iraq is a decade away from the ability to make nuclear weapons."
History could simply be repeating itself. Bush has no solid evidence of nuclear weapons in Iraq - he's simply hyping it like his father did. The article says the Iraqis were a decade away. But after the Gulf War, that time was obviously extended since so many facilities were destroyed. Call me a pussy, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to some moron's sentimentalities and whining just so he can start a war as a father's day present.

I support the war. The French just want to make their country seem important when it really isn't. I think most of the people who are against the war, arent really against it they are just agianst Bush. If Clinton or Gore would say we need to go to war, 90% of these anti war people would be for the war. Its all just poplitical bull shit. Bomb Saddam to Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would you trust Sadam as much as Bush. Last time I checked Bush never gassed his own people, or invaded a peacefull law abiding country(Kuwait). And for saying HE is a stupid bastard is just inflaming emotions that have nothing to do with the war. I bet he is smarter than most of us. I also take issue with most people hating him anyway. I dont know what opinion poll you are thinking of but last i checked you are so far off on that issue it is funny. In the last poll I saw on Bush he had like a 65% approval rating.

Little focus group? Wake up, kid. Russia, France, Germany, China are fucking countries! Just China's population is at least 5 times bigger than the US population. That means something. Americans thinks they are the center of the universe because they invented MacDonald's, Britney Spears, Coca Cola and Star Wars but all those shit are wack. Do you really think that you can attack a country for no reason but the money even if like the half of the world's population is against it? naah, it's fucked up. This war is about Oil, it's not even well hidden by Bush.
For real man, Bush is ignoring the U.N. and that's just wrong. If he attacks without everyone's agreement, something big could happen and you don't want it.

No he is frusterated with the un he got a resolution stating that if Suddam didn't disarm the countries of the world would disarm him. Plus the U.N. is not a democracy not every country will have a say in the discion if they support bush or not. Plus permanent members cans veto even with a majority giving one country way to much power i disprove of the stucture of the un they have only approved 2 wars one war because the Russians forgot to come, the other was the gulf war that was impossible to vote no to because of the mass murders in Kuwait. You are not American are you, Americans aren't the center of the universe they dont want to be, nor do we whant to rule the world, we just whant to feal safe and we would feel alot more safe with Suddam out of power.

I personally support this administration, and gladly cast my vote for Bush in the 2000 election. (I'm a Floridian, so me and 300 of my friends decided the election.) While I am personally against war in any form, I truly pray that good comes from this situation. I believe that the world will indeed be safer with Saddam no longer in power.

This war is utterly crap. It's not even all about the weapons or disarming Saddam. It's also for generating public support for Bush, getting the oil, finishing what Bush Sr. started, and the beginning of the US's takeover of the Middle East.

I disagree. Considering all of the negative feelings that this war has already generated toward the Bush administration from the U.S. and the rest of the world, I doubt it's Bush's attempt to win a second term. Also, since only 4 cents on the dollar of our gas prices goes to Iraq, I doubt this is to seize their oil. Plus, the UN has said that it wants to be in charge of the post-war reconstruction, so America may not have the biggest influence on what happens to the oil.
