The PS3 seems to be getting alot of negative press and seen as a big failure from alot fo game sites. Most of the industry also seemed to jump on the anti Sony bandwagon. Many have stated that Sony will do big things at TGS and bla, bla, bla. If Sony impressess hugely at TGS and has a extremely successful launch, what do you guys think will happen. I mean, the sites are talking badly on the PS3 now, how do you guys think they will cover up their doom and gloom? For instance, lets say a journalist or analyst says,''With a $600 price tag, I am not sure if the PS3 will succeed this generation.'' Then Sony succeeds this generation and with a good showing, it turns to this,''As always, Sony pushes through with their powerful brand and horsepower of the PS3.'':Carrot:

Are you aware that we haven't seen yet any finished PS3 game running on final hardware? And are you aware that the lack of PS3 news is allowing many sites to make up stories and create a lot of bad opinions and urging everyone to think in a negative way to create more fuss and thus obtain the hits they are not currently getting because of said drought of news? Do you remember that there's a $500 PS3 configuration that doesn't lack any important component for gaming at all? Are you aware that it will not remain expensive forever?
Even if Sony's showcase at TGS 2006 is a disaster (I don't think it will though), it'll still be too early to say PS3 is a failure. There wouldn't be half as many negative turmoil around if both PS3 configurations were $100 cheaper. We will know for sure whether PS3 has succeeded or has failed 3 years after its launch. Until then, let the sites cut it some slack or become I-will-publish-sensationalism-to-obtain-more-hits sites.

I never said the PS3 was a failure. I said journalists and analysts. I was just asking what do you guys think the media will say when the PS3 impressess after all the negative shit and anti-Sonyism that has been going on since E3. Like Joystiq and Kotaku for example. They are having a field day with the PS3, twisting stories and news, and being very negative. Now alot of people think they are fanboys, but if the PS3 impressess, what will they do to fix their image again(only a example on what I was try to do)?

Beenie, let's not go there again man. Haven't we discussed this a million times already. And IIRC very recently in the following thread.
http://forums.e-mpire.com/showthread.php?t=60205
I'd certainly hope not to repeat all that mumbo jumbo in another thread. Negative press or whatever. It's exactly how VG put it, only to generate clicks. Will go away as soon as PS3 launches. Same happened with X360, same when Wii got named. These things are norm now.

I don't see how something that hasn't even come out yet is a failure.

If there's as much or more negativity in the internet one year after PS3's launch and the sales totally suck, then Sony should worry. PS3 won't do bad.
About sites like Kotaku and Joystiq: they'll consider the situation. What will bring them more hits: negativity or positivity? They don't care whether people think they're fanboyish anymore. Actually, they're glad to get so many hits out of being fanboyish, even more than they'd wish to be. They'll just keep on being negative, because it's so much easier to complain about everything mindlessly than to make a good and constructive point.

No, no. I am not worrying, I am just asking what do you guys think sites will say.

With a thread title like "what happens" and expressing some concern in your posts, I thought you actually were somewhat worried. Anyway, I've expressed my opinion on what the sensationalists will do after PS3 launches: create more sensationalism.

Ps2 has bad press also. Its alittle worse now but not much more.
ps2 was $100 more than the dreamcast and the launch games didn't look so hot compare to the dc's graphics. people complained that they didn't need dvd's space, 2 controller ports etc....

Overall the media is a joke IMO...
I dislike most sports analyst, because they jump on every bandwagon.
I get tired of seeing players, coaches, franchises get hammered by the media, but if they are winning they receive all the praise. It's the same thing in the videogame market, everyone hated on the PS2 prior to launch, and now it's the best thing since sliced bread...
I don't hold much weight to opinions not based on fact, how can you bad mouth the PS3 it has not launched yet. Perhaps once you have played a completed title you can make statements regarding the value. It may be expensive, but that does not make it a poor piece of electronics.
At the end of the day the only opinion that really matters is mine...
The media will sing praises for the PS3 and the "innovation" of Sony if the PS3 is a success. If the PS3 is a failure the media outlets will say I told you so, Sony is arrogant and too ambitious. If you pay close attention the media is never wrong... Peace

Media/Press/etc all that shit is extremely fickle. You know that saying "its not over until the fat lady sings"? Apply that to this situation. Sony hasn't sung, the ps3 hasn't been launched, TGS hasn't happened yet. Just give it a bit of time, stop these threads negative threads. They're becoming painfully old.

The point of this thread is to post bloopers on what the media and fanbots will say after the PS3 succeeds.
Example
''ZOMG PS3 lost another exclusive huge impact.''
After PS3 succeeds
''I knew the PS3 would get all the good games.''
Maybe I should change the name of this thread and my first paragraph in the thread as people seem to think this thread is about the negativity surrounding the Ps3. This thread is just to post what you think the media and doubters will say after the PS3 succeeds or joke about it..

Sony will very likely have a big TGS and most of the negativity will go away, but Ziff Davis as a whole has been overly critical of Sony and this has caused irreparable damage to the long-term relationship between Ziff and Sony, even though Sony will likely never publicly admonish Ziff or any of its employees for bashing the PS3 week-in and week-out, it will be much more significant in terms of hurting Ziff publications' chances of getting exclusives on PS3 games ahead of everyone else, irrespective of the fact that Ziff is a dominant player in gaming media right now. The damage while not immediately apparent, has been done, Ziff has yet to realize the result of their complete lack of objectivity in their attempt to generate controversy, this bodes well for Future publishing in the long run, as well as mags like GI. When the folks at Ziff runs out of stuff to bash the PS3, they will find it much harder to cover hit games on Sony's PS3 platform, because while PR will still have to work with them, they'll be less enthusiastic and forthcoming when dealing with Ziff, simply because they took so much shit from Ziff over the past year.

We've only fairly recently seen the majority of media flip their opinion on Nintendo - after a far longer 'negative spell' (think several years, as opposed to a few months). Is anyone calling out these journalists for the negative press they've given in the past? Barely. It's just negative press, after all. I imagine the situation would be much the same for the PS3, should it manage to get in the good books again.
One throwaway line near the beginning of any article (ie. "while the PS3 seemed to be stumbling for a while prior to TGS") will be sufficient to acknowledge the past situation. Then a pro-PS3 article will continue as normal. No one's really keeping track. If you see a pro-PS3 article in the future, are you gonna go baack to the writer like 'but hey on july 18th you said such and such about the PS3 now you're saying this?'. I don't think it's worth the effort, nor do I think that writers are worried about losing face by doubling back (in a very loose sense) on themselves in a situation like this.

Beenie, not a damn thing will happen to be honest.
What most Sony fans do not realize is that for the past 8 years Nintendo has been dragged through the mud by the media far, far, far worse than anything you've read about PS3 thus far.
This same media, the supposedly anti-Sony sites that for the past 8 years were anti-Nintendo, are now all on Nintendo's Johnson.
Many of these sites claimed the DS was DOA. Said the PSP was going to stomp the the hell out of such an inferior handheld and yet today they sing its praises now that it's proven so far more successful than the PSP.

EDIT:
Locked. Try a new thread but with your intention of posting blatant BS, etc...
