B,
You may want to link directly to the article.

It's just more Nintendo love from the media...
The media is very fickle and currently Nintendo is "chic", it's hip to say the Wii is cool...
All of the consoles are next-gen since they are the next iteration of the hardware. Enough said...

That is probably a pro nintendo article, but I still wish Wii got more of an upgrade from gamecube. I don't mean HDTVLOLZ, just more than a current gen xbox.

I want to say that the PS3 and 360 are indeed huge upgrades from the XBox and PS2. They are of course upgrades, because any increase in performance is an upgrade.

However, the Wii is such a small upgrade in my opinion that it's not worth much more than a gamecube. If the Wii turns out to cost more than $199 then I think it is a rip off. If people want to buy it and play it then I think that's fine, but when you compare the hardware power to the PS3 and 360 a price tag of anything more than $199 for the Wii is a rip off.

I'll take PS3 over the wii any day, wii=gamecube with the remote.
I need mature games/blockbusters/hit ect.I dont wanna play 20 year old games with spruced up graphics or even pay for that crap.I'd rather spend extra 5-10 bucks and play mgs4 than Mario collecting stars.I cant see where is innovation from Nintendo.I had a ds and I sold it,and I dont regret at all.I mean come on $35 for Super Mario Bros, are you kidding me? no way.N always overprice their games,I will be laughing at people who wanna buy the wii, if games for the wii cost $55.From what I have seen on the wii, games shouldnt cost more than $20

No one is going to compare the Hardware power of the Wii to the 360 or PS3, that's the whole point after all.

Wii is a true next gen console? PS3 and 360 merely upgrades? Lol. This guy's too funny. It's a good thing that American McGee hired this comedian to lighten up their programmers.

They slapped a fancy remote on a improved gamecube... is that not a mere "Upgrade"

Well obviously this guy is a industry vet that doesn't want to spend millions on game dev, he just wants profits. Hence his outlook towards the Wii, which is supposedly less of and update than the 360 and PS3.

I see him breaking it down like this:

Wii = Low dev cost, possible huge return due to system being the new #1 home console.

X360 = High dev cost, possible medium returns due to 1 year head start

PS3 = High dev cost, returns are questionable may not be #1 home console this time.
Still anyone in the industy, hell even us the hardcore gamers know the specs and realize the PS3 is much more than a CPU/GPU upgrade, there is some major tech within.

Hey TGS is coming, send in the strippers.......:farley:

Well in essence the 360 and the PS3 are only upgrades they are the next installment of the consoles much as the Wii is. I personally dont find much interest in the Wii and cannot fathom this whole new gameplay scenario that Nin is trying to feed me, but to each their own. I cant believe that people find the need to uplift their consumer choice by belittling that of others.

The Wii is between Xbox and Xbox360 in terms of power. It's not a GC with a new controller. Anyone claiming so is as bad as this guy in the article. Stop listenting to hardcore Sony fanboys for a few minutes and this might become more apparent. If you can't see the value in enhancing gameplay to the next level then I guess you miss much of the whole point to playing a game (this does mean there is no value in enhancing the visuals though).

McGee needs to get in his office and make somethign fun or else his comments have no merit.

From what I saw at E3, Wii has little to offer graphically and depends on it's controller a lot. However, it isn't released yet so I will reserve my judgements until then. That controller still throws me off though, like in a FPS when someone is shooting from beside or behind you, you can't quickly turn your character to return fire. You move your pointer to the side of the screen and wait... and wait, while you are getting pummeled the whole time with gunfire. This may get fixed before launch, but we'll see.

I'm in agreeance with Viper on this one, McGee's credibility is questionable at best as an industry veteran, but that gives none of you in this thread to make statements as 'the Wii is a Gamecube with a remote'. It calls into question your own credibililty considering that none of us have had extended use of either of the upcoming systems.

Well, at least McGee is trashing talking both the 360 and PS3 instead of just the PS3 like they usually do, that's a step up.
