-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Developed by Day 1 Studios in co-operation with Monolith Productions, F.E.A.R is a thriller paranormal whose action is entirely represented with the first anybody. A discharge of adrenalin without precedent, interfering the close combat in closed environment and cold sweats an unknown paranormal to freeze blood.

hell yeah,Now all PS3 needs is Condemned at launch. Resistance, F.E.A.R, and Condemned...that's a lot of horror in the first person point of view.

launch title, which one to choose FEAR or Resistance? I can only get oneTo be honest, Resistance is a game that will be tailored for PS3 and FEAR will not be much more than a port. Besides, from what I've seen, Resistance actually looks better than FEAR, IMO. I will get Resistance myself.

I'd pick up Resistance for the 40 player online which will be carnage.
But FEAR is just so so damn good... Awesome graphics/AI/Gameplay the LOT!
Impossible to choose between the two.

Resistance for me, no doubt. The demo of FEAR I played on the PC I found boring, at least Resistance will have interesting weapons.

Thats very true. I have a hard time to belive if Fall of Man gets good reviews etc people will pick up a rather old PC-port if they have to choose. Well just my opinion..

Yes, it doesn't seem to look too much like PC's version at all. I'm afraid this could be a similar case to Quake IV for 360: a lackluster rushed PC port with some exclusive content for launch.
Resistance FTW.
Well, they have another three months to touch it up but as it stands, Resistance is my game of choice. I'm glad to see that the PS3's Launch line up should have plenty of selection though.

F.E.A.R to become a launch title for PS3 is one of the best things to happen. That's like automagically prompting other FPS' developers to take notice of PS3's existance and most probably trigger future interest from those who've kept themselves to Xbox only in the past. hehe
Ahhhsome news!

THis game doesn't look to out-do Resistance (remember that game began on PS3 and is exclusive to the system) But it will be another great choice for consumers come launch day. We'll have to go back and compare launch list again in the near future. PS3 and Wii and really battling it out with the variety of games at launch. I'm still looking forward to Resistance tho. That and Gears are at the top of my list for must-haves...

That's what most people on gamespot are saying too. There's even claims that the XBOX 360 version looked better?!
Then one guy just posted XBOX 360 specs that were overall way over those of the PS3. I don't know who to believe anymore, but i'm sure gonna buy a PS3 and a Wii.

Tell me this, if those specs were totally real, and they're theoretical specs based on a part that has no solid official information released on it (thus it's removal from the official PS3 spec page) then why are 1st gen PS3 games besting the looks of 2nd gen 360 games? That machine has been out for over a year, and I've yet to see anything of LAIR or MGS4 quality on it. On top of that, I've seen the 360 version of FEAR at E3, and those screenshots look better than what I saw.

I have to agree. It is as if the media doesn't want to admit the PS3 isn't just slightly more powerful than the 360 as well as 360 fanboys who either dodge it by saying only slightly.
I mean, I have yet to see a 360 RPG(even Mass Effect) prettier than Final Fantasy XIII
I have yet to see a 360 fighting game prettier than Virtua Fighter
I have yet to see a 360 FPS prettier than Resistance
I have yet to see a 360 stealth game prettier than MGS4
I have yet to see a 360 game prettier than Lair.:pepper:
People also seem to factor out all the devs and insiders who have stated the PS3 as the most powerful console this gen. Also, the PS3 has the edge over the 360 since it has a Blu-Ray drive, RSX+Cell(the Cell's extra transistors) as well as the HDD.

the pendulum is swinging back our way fellas. i wounder how many other multi platform games will get the extra content treatment. 60fps naaaaa 120fps... don't take me for a fool, just wait and see... ;)
is that a dev behind me?
Applefiend
08-17-2006, 08:39 PM
There's one way to see if these fan boys are correct, and that's if PS3 multiplatform games come out with half the view distance or half the frame rate of the 360 versions. I don't see that happening at all.
November 17th we can all check out Sonic the Hedgehog and see...

hmm, those shots do look like the texture and shader detail is toned down a little bit, but they will obviously get much better.
When it comes to me, I would just choose the game that I haven't played...so it's Resistance for me.

Awesome! So in the last two days, there's been two previously unannounced PS3 titles, that just out of the blue have been announced as launch titles.
Great stuff, i wonder how many more there'll be? http://forums.e-mpire.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I disagree with nearly all of those and the majority of the ones that you mentioned have shown no gameplay and arent due to launch until who knows when.
But anyways I wouldnt waste my time with FEAR for 2005 it was a pretty decent game but with what we have seen on the horizon for both launch and past I wouldnt put too much emphasis on the title. Though it is worth mentioning that I never particularly cared for FEAR to begin with.

I think i'll get it. It got great reviews, and i was looking forward to getting it for PC until the demo got released, then i realised how shit my comp is XD, so i passed it up. Now i get to play it and it won't look like shit :thumbl:

FEAR is a game that needs to be running at the highest visual quality to enjoy all it has to offer.
The action is outstanding and the AI is the best I've every went up against in a videogame.
If you haven't played it...get it. If you already have it...why in the hell would you get it again?

Overnight those shots have totally grossed me out, it's off my buy list. Resistance for teh win. Until they can show it looking pretty, sod that then.
I do have fear on pc but never got round to playing it through, and games are so much nicer on big tvs with dolby digital surround...

The game looks better on my PC then those screenshots.
But why get it on ps3 or 360 when you can get it on PC with the expansion, extraction point for 60$ maybe even less by then.

Because to get good performance out of the title would still require a highend rig to this day, regardless that the title is about a year old.

Am I the only one who thinks that a launch title for this game is a bad idea? There is so much potential for utilising the system, and to me it seems like they're trying to take advantage of the hype wave that comes with launch.
Wheras if say they delay it a few months or so, they can polish the game, fix up the kinks, adapt it to the system's unique specifications and bring in a great game. If they don't then they'll fall into oblivion (no pun intended) after the second wave of far better looking games come out.

If F.E.A.R PS3 doesn't turn out that hot, then i don't really care, as Resistance and CoD3 can easily handle peoples FPS fix on launch day. I think F.E.A.R will be fine, i see no reason to think it's going to be crap, if i'm right, then for me that means there's 3 FPS games i have to pick up on launch day. (which i never thought could happen :look:)

It just seems like they're showing us a very basic OpenGL renderer to gross us all out.
Oh why...
Yup, agreed. I'll have Gears, Resistance, maybe COD3 and Bros in Arms on November 17th. Who needs anything more?
Unless they get fear looking as good as it looks on my 3 year old PC with crappy video card... I think a lot of PC devs come to PS3 and get bewildered. But the gaming world doesn't revolve around PC thank god.

'F.E.A.R.' (PS3/X360) Exclusive Content Revealed
Posted on Monday, August 21 @ 00:39:38 PDT
At a Vivendi press event last week we learned that both F.E.A.R. next-gen titles will each have an exclusive bonus level and bonus weapon. The story of the two bonus levels ties together to help explain the backstory of F.E.A.R. In the X360 level you play as Holliday and the weapon is the dual machine guns, while the PS3 extra content is still kept secret but our guess is that you play as that other guy who is big in the FEAR backstory(Yoshaw note: Either Jankowski or Jin; see pic!), Holliday's partner. Whether there will be additional content remains to be seen, we'll have more details next month when we get to go hands on with the PS3 version.

These 3 were the main characters in F.E.A.R PC,
