Ps3 Preorder Lies

Today i went into a local gamecrazy to put more money into my ps3 account . so then i noticed a new manager there, and i noticed they had a WII and PS3 call list and my name was listed #5. So then i ask wait a minute why am i on a PS3 call list i preordered in may put a 50 deposit, and showed the guy my name. then he tells me that the last manager that was there was takin ps3 preorders and was fired because of it. He also said anybody that is telling u , they r taking preorders is lieing. Sony has told retailers too not take any preorders until they r told too, they r only allowed to take a call list. He said anybody caught taking preorders will have there allocation cut in half or none at all. He also said allocation will be based on whoever has sold the most sony product, meaning gamestores are i the lower bracket below, best buy walmart circuit city.
And i think this is very true cause liksang has been taking preorders since last nov/dec and i preordered there too in dec, went into my account today and they deleted all ps3 orders they took and the preorder button has dissappeared which is very weird for liksang cause they take preorders up until the day of launch on all systems and the wii preorder is still up. Also guy also informed me of the bs i didnt want to here. he said that people wit most games preordered and accessories will go up higher on list cause they make money off those then the system( so i think he was jus sayin that so i would buy games)so i preorder 2 games. Also said store will now about preorders by mid of sept. he siad his sony rep is suppose to let him know by end of 1st week in sept. all i know is im #5 so i got my ps3

You basically pre-ordered a PS3 and you are number 5 on the list...Congrats!(?)...

in Uk, they are only pre-ordering 60GB ones...the guy said "sony isnt shipping the 20gb here" just incase this wasnt confirmed news, it is now.
the other reason might be that the guy wants me to buy the 60GB one (for obvious reasons)

So, what ended up happening with this...?

I ask only because I myself have a GameCrazy 'preorder' at present. Would I be able to get my money back from these guys? Will the $50 even be applied towards the PS3 when it shows up? The whole thing seems suspect - looks like I'll be making some calls tomorrow.

Not to be an Asshole, but I had my doubts about the Game Crazy preorder from day one... Game Crazy is one of the smaller retailers with no real leverage or influence from a sales perspective, but they are the only retailer offering a preorder... Also, the Game Crazy rep told me I would have to purchase 2 games and 2 peripherals which was BS in my opinion so I decided not to preorder with Game Crazy. Based on this thread it sounds like I made the right decision and considering that there’s no sku good luck getting your preorder money back...

I travel often for work and hope I'm not traveling when retailers finally start taking preorders, because you need to be in the top 10 to be guaranteed a unit at launch. That's my 2 cents... Peace

Well I pre-ordered from Gamestation here in the UK some months ago. I am still registered with them and I can't see them "calling me up" as I registered over the internet.
Gamestation closed down their pre-order scheme a couple of months ago saying that there was too much demand, however I am still on their list and they have stated that all those who have registered there already will be getting a machine in the "launch window" i.e. before Christmas, I registered very early and am hoping for one at launch.
You have made me a little nervous now, I'll phone them next week and see what the score is.

To be honest, you guys should feel lucky to even have the dough for PS3. As much as I want to shout for pre-order excitement, bleh, the more I'm kidding myself here. Waiting line, calling line, pre-order line or whatever its called. Be happy that you can atleast get in some kind of line for a friggin P.S.3. Not everyone stoked for PS3 can say the same you know.

PS3 is the start of the next generation of entertainment. 360 is the start of the next gen of video games only. Blu Ray, high def, motion sensing, complete package all starts with PS3 baby.

Here in Kiwi land it's started too. Our local EB has cleared all their shelves off a bunch of their GC, PS2,and Xbox(mostly XBox as it's the first of the last gen consoles to bite the dust), and there's a huge blank bunch of shelf space with two posters, one for Wii, one for PS3.

It's all very groovy. PS3 is nearly apon us.

God knows how Kiwis will be able to afford the 1,200 NZD the Premium PS3 is costing over here. Bless their little hairy hobbit feet but they're none too good with money, Kiwis. :)
