The difference between that new maria shot and the old one is the time of day lighting. The other one was just more dramatic. It's the same game.

Something is off with the Pics I would guess the source of the pics...
I will wait for high res pics or perhaps an HD trailer before passing final judgement. I played the game on the 360 and the gameplay got boring after a short period of time IMO...
The tennis games have never really looked brilliant, so maybe they're just continuing along the same vein?

It's the crowd as usual. Obviously they didnt pay attention to it.
I wish they would pay more attention to the crowds in games. I mean, I'm not bothered about loads of detail, they just need to stop making them look like cardboard cut-outs.

Translation summary:
- Virtua Tennis 3 will be 1080p on the PS3.
- It will remain 720p on the 360.
- The game will be in stores in March 2007 (could be a PS3 launch game in Europe)
- Playable demo at TGS.
- Virtua Tennis 3 looks better on PS3 than on 360, even at 720p.

This is very, very interesting. If this game is running at 1080P on the PS3 and looks *better* than the 360 version at 720P what does that say about the PS3's hardware? Obviously, it is a very good sign, but is there anything specific it might be telling us?
I'm really starting to think with more games potentially hitting 1080P and the many other games getting a sudden leap in graphical quality that it's not completely out of the question we there could have been a RAM upgrade in the PS3. It's not likely, but seeing a game go to 1080P and look better than the 360 at 720P is pretty darn amazing in my opinion.

Sega has served up (har, har, har) new high resolution screens along side a few new details on Power Smash 3, aka Virtua Tennis 3. In Japan, the game is set for release exclusively on the PlayStation 3, although it will also see Xbox 360 release everywhere else in the world.1080p support, Japanese exclusivity, looks better than 360's version in any case... interesting.

Wounding, your browser is minimizing the image automatically to fit your screen. Do this, once the 1080p links image is opened in your browser, click on it once to enlarge it to the original proportions.

Im using netscape.Firefox with 9 extensions: tab manager, advert blocking, mouse gestures recognition, weather forecast, quick term lookups, etc. And properly configured so that, among other things, it won't resize any pictures.

Actually the browser does mess up the properties when it automatically resizes image to fit screen. It would show you the smaller res and not the original. I checked it before telling Wounding about it :)
Firefox 1.5.0.7, it's a custom thing. Some people it never happens, to some its there(the resizing) by default.

The "holy grail of full HD" is confirmed for Sega's PS3 tennis title.
by Sam Kennedy, 09/17/2006
At its press event in Tokyo yesterday, Sega revealed, or rather boasted, that Virtua Tennis 3 runs in 1080p on the PS3. Displaying the game on slick HD sets with 1080p placards next to them, it looked absolutely glorious in high-res.
This makes Virtua Tennis 3 the second PS3 title confirmed to run in 1080p, next to Gran Turismo HD, and demonstrates that third party publishers are able to achieve what's been dubbed the holy grail of full HD on PS3. Sony has touted the PS3's ability to render 1080p images as a large benefit over the Xbox 360, which is incapable of generating them at such a resolution.
As we previously reported, Sony hopes to have Resistance: Fall of Man and NBA 07 running in 1080p as well, but isn't sure yet whether this will be possible in time for their release. For the time being, there are now two games confirmed to run in 1080p on the PS3.

Warmachine,
Can you copy/quote/paste the exact same post above in Nameless' 1080p thread (http://forums.e-mpire.com/showthread.php?t=61985)? I think we should leave this one for Virua Tennis :)
alot of people bash EA, but I love'em. they have production values few can match, their sports (along with 2K's) are the best around (not counting very few exceptions like Winning Eleven) and they introduce new exciting games like Army of Two. not to mention, look at what Criterion were able to do with Burnout and Black thanks to EA's backing. :)

Following on from the earlier news that Virtua Tennis 3 is set to hit PlayStation 3 in 'full' 1080p high definition glory, SPOnG has just posted our recent interview with Mie Kumagai the game's producer, over at AM3.
Kumagai-san was the first female president of any Japanese game development studio and has worked with Sega since 1993. She is hereafter referred to as MK.
MK told us how the development team have built upon the basic Virtua Tennis concept of "Super Play with Simple Control", whilst at the same time upgrading the topspins (offensive shots), slices (defensive shots), lobs and drop shots, as well as adding exciting new elements like running shots.
Telling us about the animations, MK noted that: "When the user plays VT3, they will feel as if they are tracing the motions of Federer or Nadal and so on - I believe we've successfully achieved a realism that is close to live television broadcasting."
MK went on to tell us more about other new features in the game, including the party games you can play together with your friends or family, and the new "World Tour" mode, as well as letting us know a little more about which licensed players will star in the game, and the many types of court environment in which we'll be able to have a knock about in full eye-blastingly beautiful high definition glory.
She was particularly proud to detail the improvements in the AI in Virtua Tennis 3, telling us: "Regarding the AI players, they move with the characteristic moves or thinking of their real-life counterparts. For example, Federer tries to perform all-around play, Nadal attempts to make use of his powerful strokes and abundant quantity of motion as his advantage, and Roddick aims to get the initiative with serves and so on.

she's so hot in real life!!! this is detailed graphics and yet they fail to portray her in every possible aspect. omg
The models do look good. I mean look at the corners of her armpits you can usually see some weird poly's there, but it looks flawless.

Except for the fact that they made Sharapova look ugly, graphics are not bad at all. I think this game is gonna get left in the dust tho graphically when more of the PS3 exclusives start to roll out.

Virtua Tennis gets tilty on PS3 (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=148602)
Friday 3-Nov-2006 10:15 AM Sega serves up details on new functionality added to the PS3 version of the tennis game
We've been sent some nice visual diagrams and a bit of blurb this morning on Virtua Tennis 3's freshly announced employment of the PS3 controller's tilt action.
You can use the tilt action to move your player (tilt the controller forward to move a sports star forward, left to move them left etc.) and also to perform a variety shots and serves - in a similar way to a tennis racquet, and without using the buttons or analogue sticks, explains Sega.
Here's further example stuff:
* Swing the controller up quickly - Player makes a lob shot
* Swing the controller down quickly - Player performs a slice shot
* Swing the controller horizontally - Top spin!
And here's a couple of diagrams for you to peruse:

Will it be as good as Wii Sports? Let the debate begin!Regarding the debate, and not trying to start a fanboy battle, Virtua Tennis 3 will have the critical advantage in the fact that Wii Tennis doesn't allow the player to move their character around, since the game moves it automatically without relying on the player's input. Both games could be played single-handedly even though Wii's would feel more natural, save for the inability to move your character.
Beyond that, VT3 is a full-blown tennis game which is just far superior in every other department than Wii Tennis, which is a small and simple game.

Last-gen, there were many titles I avoided do to the control sheme, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had to suffered for the reason. This gen seems to have rectified this little problem.
This is one I would most definitely like to try out.

Virtua Tennis 3 [360,PS3,PC,PSP] - 8
Just been playing the Xbox Live demo and it's really good, gameplay is alot smoother like World Tour compared to VT1 and VT2. The graphics are really good, a nice combination of realism and all that colourfulness you'd expect from a Sega arcade game...
not sure whether I love or hate the music though :wank:

Hmmmm.....
Maybe I'll stick with Mario Tennis/Wii Sports Tennis.
Unless I can get it cheap of course. Too many games, so little time.
I don't play tennis games. but I like the extras. amusing thoughts. has the series always had such modes?

Just played VT3 on my mate's 32" HDTV and I'm finally convinced by this HD stuff now, absolutely stunning!!!
Not one jaggy or one imperfection in place, the colour is absolutely beautiful! The clay court is a visual feast, player skin is by far the best I've ever seen in a video game.
Anyone looking for arcade thrills and is looking for something to REALLY show off their HDTV, this is the game!
