I like it. It does what it has to do tells you what platform it's on, and leaves lots of room for the box art-which is always good :claps:

I also like the return to the playstation brand on the spin of the cover like in the good ol psone days.

What I don't like about it is that the PS3 logo is written in a way that it's hard to read. Sure we don't even need to read it to recognise it, but I'd still prefer it to be written horizontally, or vertically but from the top to the bottom, just like this:

Excellent boxart, looks nice IMO. Reminds me of PS1 days! They had similar boxes for PS1 games in the beginning. Nostalgic :)

Well, the original playstation had it written the same way as these. I think it works. The thing about language is, you don't read each individual letter anyway, you just read the whole word. As long as the first letter and the last letter are correct (and it contains the other letters somewhere in there) you get it immediately.

Yea, it does bring back a good feeling of PS1 nostalgia.

Also, I'll bet anyone 50 rupees that for the final box they will use a clear frost plastic like PSP games instead of the normal blue Blu-Ray boxes. But other than that, everything will be pretty much like the IGN mockup (http://media.ps3.ign.com/articles/731/731787/img_3900789.html). It may or may not have a silver Blu-Ray logo though. It'll probably just be engraved into the plastic.

I don't know about that, but I do doubt them using the gaudy blu-ray plastic for the trim. I dunno though, nothing's stopping them from doin it.

Since the PS2 first came out I've never really liked that PS1 logo. I think maybe if they changed the colour of it or created a new one for the PS3 it would be better. I know why they've kept it (to keep continuity through the playstation brand and increase brand awareness) but I think a slight revamp would do no harm.

Using the BD package is a given.

It's a very wise move in terms of shelf space/image.
A store with Blu-Ray movies and PS3 games will give you the impression of a very large selection - of 'something' for your PS3.

If it's blue, put it in your PS3. Even I can remember that :-)

No. From what I know about the standard Blu-ray cases, they're extremely thin, so it'll resemble the IGN mock up, posted above.

Also, Wounding. I totally agree. There are a few exceptions though; Team ICO projects, MGS, FF & GoW.

Let's just call it the new Sony font. If they redesign the psp I'm sure they'll use it for the "PSP" logo aswell.

It really does look good and I've come to prefer it now that I've gotten past it being the font from the Spider-Man films. It goes right along with PS3's convex design.

If they want to keep the brand recognition, they're going to have to use the blue cases for the games, too.

I really hope they ditch the blu-ray header. Looks silly to me. I know they want to increase the blu-ray name recognition, but the color scheme is strange. What will they do for greatest hits, red banner on blue? Ugly.

I think it's a little cluttered when you have the blue Blu-Ray bar up top, the PS3 logo on the side, and then the product logo near it. I hope it's just the PS3 and the game logo -- we don't need to know it's on Blu-Ray if it's on PS3 -- it's a given.

This is just a matter of opinion. But what I can't understand is how can a font become so personal. I just don't see myself staring at the console that long for this to really matter.
