I do not see how people think the PS3 is ridiculously priced. For six hundred dollars, you get a shiat load of technology.
I do not think you can judge the price of something by just looking at the numbers, you have to see how much of something you are getting with your money. Make sense? - Don't just look at the price, look what you are getting for the price.
PS3 is a great price, even though it might be a little high for some people, it is no ripoff.

I like how you start by saying you are not buying a PS3, which basically negates the ramainder of your post... We have discussed PS3 pricing over and over, nothing new to discuss regarding this topic. :closed:
PS: I'm surprised at the $250 USD Wii price tag, not so cheap after all...

Just because I am not getting a PS3 does not mean my thoughts are not valid.

Snapfan I agree, your thoughts are quite valid.
I edited your post though to remove the 'I'm buying a Wii' disclaimer, because just as your thoughts are valid, the message carries weight independent of the messenger; no need to disclaim that you're not buying a PS3, and then launch into why the price is nevertheless reasonable. I just think that this thread will go a whole lot more smoothly if it's not seen in the wrong light. :smoke:

XB you are right every members "thoughts" are valid...
Since Snapfan has posted his Wii purchasing decision in multiple PS3 threads, I was starting to question his motives... We have a few poster who try to passively troll the forums, if you know what I mean. :smirk:

I think his first thread was honest enough, and I see nothing wrong with this one either.....
We have beat this to death though....Like my horses.

The 600 bucks is worth it, you're getting what you pay for.. Most people aren't arguing that. The problem is it's just out of their budget. 600 bucks is 600 bucks. I have the luxury of being able to save money. I hit my 600 dollar mark a week ago. By november I'll have enough for games and periphs...
But not everyone is in our shoes. Once the price drops come around it'll level the playing field.

Consider that I just spent $500 on a BFG NVidia 7900 OC vid card with 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM for my PC. With that in mind I would say that the amount of tech the consumer gets for just $600, a PS3 is worth every single penny. The games look great so far and will get better. I have hopes for BD, though this is the one thing that looms over Sony and PS3. I know in the world of consoles it is a new level of money spent, but oh well! Everything changes....

God dammit. This again.
Okay, here's the deal summed up real short and simple: People aren't complaining that it isn't a good value for what you get. The complaint that most people have is that it's just more money than they're comfortable spending on it. It wouldn't matter if the PS3 could clean your house, make breakfast, do windows, fly, and travel through bloody time for $500/$600 because it's not an issue of what the thing does. The average Joe isn't comfortable just handing out that much money for something, no matter what it does.
People want a PS3. There's going to be enough people that are willing to pay that much for one in order for it to sell well. However, the typical gamer is not going to pay that much for a PS3, but it's not going to be because they don't think it's worth it, but rather that they just can't spend that kind of money that easily.
Confound it.... Is there any way we could put a stop to these threads? We're beating a dead horse, here.

The average Joe doesn't buy the console at launch then. Instead they wait 2 or 3 years and buy it when the price is more reasonable. It has been the same with previous consoles, they are expensive at launch and then slowly come down in price until eventually they are dirt cheap.
The PS2 cost £300 ($580) over here when it launched. I waited a year and bought the GT3 pack (PS2 + GT3) for £199. If I bought one today it would be the Slimmer PS2 and cost £95.
Basically if you're not happy paying that much for a console then don't buy it straight away. The price will always reflect demand, so when the hardcore gamers have finished paying full price for the console it will drop in price and attract a new market of more casual gamers.

The price is easy to justify if somebody's willing to listen, but when you got customers coming into a store who just want to spout **** and listen to the sound of their own opinion, it's not so easy to simply say, "It's actually a great value, on the contrary, and you would be getting a lot of value for this money spent."
Not to mention that everybody instantly thinks $600 when they think PS3, ignoring the fact that the $500 model (as opposed to the Core 360 model) is a perfectly viable option...

You are right it isn't a ripoff because you are getting a lot for what you are paying for, but think about it how most people can't afford to pay for a $600 system. Yeah you get a lot for what you pay for, but most people can't afford that price point.

Bsack and HolyPaladin, maybe I should edit SnapFish's post back to it's original state such that you might realize he actually agrees with both of you. You're preaching to the choir friends - the guy is getting a Wii instead of a PS3.
