I tried to pre order at gamestop and eb games, and both said they weren't able to take orders yet until their managers discuss how many they can take, etc.
So, anyone have any better luck? I am going to try again tomorrow morning.

Galcian, fuck both companies, just walk in Best Buy at launch, and you'll have yours. I got my launch GC the same way.

Yeah nintendo isnt gonna dissapoint by not having enough for everyone at launch, I hope. Either way Im still pre-ordering one from ebgames. I have no Idea if they are accepting them yet though. All I can say is just keep trying back at different places till they do.
gljvd, youre one lucky bastard you know that? I'd hump your leg if you would gimme the hook up(Im not limiting it to that though wink wink).

I don't like preording a console anymore, not especially at GameStop, usually, they have the LOWEST number of consoles at indiviual stores. In fact, during the Xbox, and GC launches, they had the LOWEST number of consoles per store, not one walked away from any store happy.
Glad I learned from the Xbox launch, and went to Best Buy, instead.

I have a friend working at Gamestop, I'll ask him first. If not, well I'm pretty sure I will find a way.

Here in Norway Wii pre-orders have been aviable for some time now. I've never placed any pre-orders before though, but maybe I will do it this time, we'll see.

Ugh, well here in Korea you can't preorder a thing! I don't even think preorder is in the Korean language... Besides, if they did, I swear to God it would only be for PS3s....
Damn Koreans...

i've had mine for about nearly 2 months now. Australia obviously. for us its important to pre-order as we use to get screwed in unit numbers. especially in smaller towns. hopefully with the Dec 7 date there will be plenty of units available that pre-ordering was just a way to make sure you dont spend it on something else. i pre-order just to make sure.
play.com let you pre-order them

I've had several Wii games pre-ordered at Game Crazy for quite a while now, but as of today they still aren't taking orders for the console, yet. I've been checking on at least a weekly basis for what feels like forever. When I called a while ago, the woman said she doesn't imagine I'd have trouble getting one, but, as I replied, I'd just feel better knowing I had one guaranteed.

I put down $50 already for a console, but I'm not sure about the games. The pricing is hazy since AUS, USA, and JPN have hugely different prices and when they explain the prices it's like they're not being absolute enough.

A little off topic for a sec, but could you PM me what you think about Okami because I've been having up and down thoughts about this game. I'd appreciate it.
But I've been calling Gamestop for the last week to see if they are accepting pre orders yet and they aren't.........

guys , gamestop will be in a much better postion than we were last time .
I had preordered my 360 the march before it came out . Gamestop wont be taking preorders till after the managers meeting next week and we are hearing perhaps not till the first week of october .
So gamestop should actually have a really good number from nintendo this time around as they are only projecting 1 or 2 months into the future where as with ms they were projecting 8 months ahead

I don't know if anybody knew about the Gamestop/EB policy rumor that was going around about how you can only pre-order next-gen systems if you provide $50 worth of used items. It was also said that this was only being done in Hawaii and Guam in order to see how it will go.
I live in Hawaii and I can connfirm all of this. I have seen the signs at my local Gamestop and have pre-ordered a Nintendo Wii. I traded-in $88 worth of games and put it all in my reservation for a Wii. The reservation guarantees me a spot in line when the system comes out. My spot in line is #6

Dunno if its true . It could just be a store doing it with out permision .
I can tell you here in the lower 48 we aren't taking them and wont be untill at least the manager meeting next week

Well I heard this is a market test for only Guam and Hawaii and this promo lasts only for this week. So I'm guessing if it goes well then it might make its way towards the rest of the U.S.

have you check with other gamestops / ebs in the area to make sure its real and not just bullshit ?
Sorry but i do know one of thestores in my area were taking ps3 reserves and when my friend took over the store he had the task of calling those people up and having to tell them taht the preorders were not valid

Yeah that is a total fucking rip off. I will not be taking part in any pre-orders that require me to trade in 50$ worth of stuff (in gamestops shitty trade in value which equals probably over 100$ to them once they resell the items). I trade nothing in and does that make me less of a gamer or less deserving of the console? No, Gamestop just trying to find another way to butt fuck people I think.
Better off camping in line.

thats so lame... it might be worth it to reserve a ps3, but no way will i do it to reserve a wii. those will be plentiful.

I have checked two Gamestops, the one that I live closest too and the one inside the major mall near Honolulu, so I'm guessing this is real. Real or not I have my certificate saying I reserved a Wii. After the $50 trade-in though u r free to use any previous store credit or cash to add on. It seem you couldnt use any store credit u had b4 to help with the $50 limit.
I went to the store right when it opened and there was many ppl willing to trade-in games for a Wii or PS3.

you don't have to trade anything in to reserve stuff , you can do it with cash.
They just perfer trade ins as they make more money off it

I hope not. But if this thing turns out to be true for all gamestops then you will have had to trade in. I know people will say "its not that much to trade in" or whatever. But I keep all of my games, trade nothing in.

I don't think it is true , which is why i'm telling him to check around .
We've never done that berfore and I doubt we ever will .
However each store gets rrated on everyhitng inlcuding trade in amounts , reserves and other things . Thats why i think something shady may be happening .
Gamestop/eb uses reserves as a way to get people back into the store and i doubt they would limit it only to people trading in , that would be a waste . They will make alot of moeny off the wii as they will sell replacement plans , acessorys and games all at once .
I personaly don't trade in as its a waste (though i'm going to trade in cod2 + 40% more special that is runnign)

Well I have called other Gamestops and it seems they're all doing this as well. Like I said b4 this is a market test that is happening only in Hawaii and Guam in order to see how well it goes. Im not too dissappointed since I was originally gonna trade-in games to put on the Wii.

I doubt you'll even need preorders, just get in line for an hour.

GameStop is only one store. Oh yeah! I just recently put down $5 for Zelda TP. Maybe I can put some money down for their USB Ethernet Adapter, GameCard, VC Shell Controller, etc! I love you Game Crazy. I would pre-order an extra Wiimote since you can use two at a time, but I need to see the games that go with it and the amount of them. One works if it's a good.
