In the latest OPM (Official PS mag) podcast they say that the cover story for the November issue will be for a launch title nobody knows about yet:
"The title of the game is five words long"
"A launch game that you've not heard of, and will not hear of until the November issue"
I personally think we will know about it before the November issue hits the shops.
So its 5 words long... and we don't know about it yet. Anyone got any ideas as to what it could be????
here are some maybes:
Jak and Daxter: Lost Frontier
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs
Final Fantasy VII: Final Revival
KillZone 2: (The)Fall Of Helghan

If you listen to the pod cast you will hear one of the guys grunt, "Auto" and then another one will say, "Don't tell them, they have to work at it!" then another one blurts in saying, "That's not the game.. keep guessing!" like they are quickly going to do damage control. Then another guys quietly says, "maybe" and I can hear in my mind someone punching the guy.
I think Auto *might* be one of the words.
If so, Grand Theft Auto: Blank, Blank could be a game or a whole new game with "Auto" in the title.

Someone needs to write a list of all the PS3 games shown at E3 that have 5 words in their title. There can't be that many and it should be easy to figure which ones could be ready for launch.

GTA4 is scheduled for 16th October 2007. (http://rockstargames.com/grandtheftauto4/)
Rockstar won't reveal a game like this anyway (what-ever it might be...it wont be a R* game). They like to (when close to launch) give some screenshots to their fansite and then just about a month before release, sell "exclusives" to some mags.
VG: "Full Auto 2: Battle Lines." - Probably....But is it good enough to be kept a "secret"?
Which begs the question- Is this game kept a secret on purpose by Sony or is it some mag begging for attention when Sony couldn't care less if the title was given away or not.
frosty
09-16-2006, 01:29 AM
not full auto, it's already been announced as a possible launch title.
May 10, 2006 - The first Full Auto was released to decent fanfare on the X360 this winter. It was fast, furious and more than a little repetitive. Pseudo Interactive is hard at work and hoping to deliver the game in time for the launch of the PS3 in November.

Blade Storm: Hundred Years War?
Heh, thats a pretty good pick I think.
A) Its a new game coming from a very established franchise (cover worthy)
B) It was only shown as a rough early build at E3
C) And subsequently hasn't been talked about much since
D) Was slated as a launch title from the very beginning.
Oh yeah, and five words. I think ya just may have nailed it. ;)

Blank Blank Blank Blank Blank
Mine and that other dudes Twisted Metal guesses still fit, I really want Twisted Metal, lol.
well, they said it is something we never heard about. by that, I presume it is a totally new IP. if so, my best guess would be Naughty-Dog's new project. problem is; we already know 'something' about that too. I could get cocky and say it is Iron and the Maiden (a new project from Naught-Dog's co-founder). but he never really say it was even a game.
the optimist in me wishes it to be indeed as it sounds: a totally and promising new IP. the realist in me says mags disappoint more than they surprise.
having said that, Sony did say there will be some totally new announcement in TGS with videos and some with gameplay. so it will most likely be one of those. after all, PS3 will launch around 50 days post-TGS. what ever the game may be, it has to have a playble at TGS.
oh, and hi fellas! :)

IGN had everyone thinking the same thing.
Then Rockstar Table Tennis was revealed...
Well, at least we know OPM thinks it's worthy enough to be their cover.
Wasn't GTA4 announced for both the 360 and PS3 for 2007 release.
If it's a game that was never announced before but was shown at E3? Then I would have to guess that Naughty Dog project as well. I mean it was clearly shown at E3 but as of now it's called "Naughty Dog PS3 Project" and have not been given a name yet. So in a way, we haven't really heard (of the official name) of it. But if it's as "big" as they try to make us believe, you can't get any bigger than a Ninja Gaiden for the PS3. It could also be a new Twisted Metal game. I mean Dave Jaffe isn't working on God of War 2 and a few months back he said he's no longer interested in designing action-adventure games.
Let's just hope it's as big as they say.

That would be seriously awesome, and not really that suprising. Bethesda basically said they cancelled the PS3 version because Sony wasn't serious about supporting HDD's, obviously that is no longer the case.... The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.....I see five words.

Well Bethesda is kind of in bed with MS (and Bioware for that matter), its similar to the relationship Insomniac and Sony have. There statement regarding the PS3 hdd was ridiculous especially when the opposite became true.

But then again, it'd be suicide for a completely new game to not have generated any buzz by now unless they are so completely confident that it will make an earth shattering impact greater than anything we've seen so far. So I guess it will be a highly recognizable game that just hasn't been officially announced.

Well looks like someone knows something. ;-)
http://www.amazon.de/The-Elder-Scrolls-IV-Oblivion/dp/B000HXDX0O/sr=8-5/qid=1158413119/ref=sr_1_5/028-6192397-6826108?ie=UTF8&s=gateway
yes but it`s amazon and they are well known for jumping the gun with game/console releases.

I wasnt trying to draw a complete similarity here.
There is no such similarity. BOTH the PC version AND the xbox360 version of Oblivion were published by 2K and released on the same date, the game was developed by a third party developer, and published by a third party publisher, the xbox360 version was basically a port of the PC version. Earlier Elder Scrolls titles were published by Bethesda themselves and NOT by Microsoft.
Since the beginning of the PS2 generation, Insomniac games were developed, from the ground-up, exclusively for Sony platforms only, and published exclusively by SCEA, there were no other versions, and there was no other publisher, such is the case for Resistance: Fall of Man, a game developed from the ground up exclusively for the PS3, published by SCEA.
Please do not try to draw similarity where there is none.

Still, I don't see the big deal of Oblivion landing on the PS3, it's been out for awhile now on the PC, unless it's massively upgraded, which I kind of doubt, it's basically just a port of something very PC-styled I can get for my PC if I wanted to, which I haven't since I'm not exactly dying to buy a console or upgrade my PC just to play this game.
It would be nice to have another good game in the line-up but for what it's worth, I didn't exactly find the game visually stunning nor do I dig the rather shabby animations which are more noticible when played in third person, no cool main character, no epic boss fights that people can't help but rave about. If ZELDA is to land on the PS3, THEN there's probably something for me to get excited about but that's not really possible.
I would hope the secret game is an original IP exclusively for the PS3 instead or even something from a well-recognized Sony franchise built tailored to the PS3 hardware.

While Oblivion wouldn't necessarily be that big a deal to some of us here, it is a HUGE deal to a lot of people. I hear a lot of people who would buy a 360 just for that game alone. People upgrade their PCs to play it. If it were to come to the PS3, that would just be one more reason for people to buy into it.
Let me put it another way: If some gamer were going to decide between the 360 and the PS3, they couldn't use oblivion as a reason anymore. They could no longer say, "well... PS3 has this this this, but the 360 has this this and Oblivion."
Seeing how huge it is in america, it would be a big deal. I still think it's twisted metal though. There has always been a Twisted Metal game for playstation, and it has pretty much always sold very well. (PSP version is already greatest hits). If it isn't twisted metal, than I do expect a twisted metal game to be announced sometime. It would be like Nintendo not having a mario or zelda.

I guess you're right in the sense that if someone wants Oblivion, they can now get it on the PS3 if that is available for the system, that's one less differentiator for the competition, and another strong title for the PS3 line-up.
I hope it's something first-party as well.:cloud9:

Perhaps if you post something worthwhile I would have a reason to + rep you instead, like I + rep the other people here.
So you're the ultimate decider of what's worthwhile or not?
It seems pretty obvious that you like enforcing your ideas no matter how stupid they are. And when people don't agree with you, you give them negative rep. Good thinking. [ Or lack of? :) ]

OK, Evil Taru, it's time to chill, so what if Wounding used a slightly bad analogy, he said it wasn't exactly the same, which is what you are trying to say.....so what the heck is the deal?!?

If I were to choose between either, I'd want Twisted Metal.
I have a lot of memories playing it on the Playstation, and I heard that Twisted Metal:Black had a pretty good online following. So, who knows..

It's getting a lot of hype. I don't think it would garner this much attention if it was some mediocre game.
If it does turn out to be a mediocre game, I guess we can all go out and buy an Xbox 360. :)

.......
............
I'm going to make this brief.
EvilTaru, get off the 'Sony Soldier' mentality. You can't go around neg repping anyone and everyone that has an opinion that falls out of line with the Sony dogma. I *definitely* did not see Wounding's opinion as something that would deserve a neg rep... but the rep system is broken and horrible and I'm against it anyway, so what can I do about that. Just stop thinking that you have to fight battles here; you don't.
As for Wounding...
Wounding, what the hell are you thinking??? People have written me saying you should be banned. That's obviously not going to happen, but I mean - did you read what you were writing?
I understand where your frustration was coming from, I really do. EvilTaru is an endemic neg repper, and it stokes peoples anger (understandably). But this is a public forum, and your language was way out of line.
People, please do *not* use language that is demeaning or insulting or offensive to people of a particular race, sexual orientation, nationality, or religion. I will put the smack down.
And -Gin-, that goes for your 'BET' post I deleted as well.
