Wow, I actually watched another movie already.
Tokyo Godfathers is pretty interesting. It's very dark style and very dark humour and definitely not for the lighthearted.
If you can't stomach things like very extreme, yet honestly not unrealistic, relationships like very extreme ones with a daughter and father, a few scenes my disturb you pretty badly.
The resolution of the story is the typical everything gets better at the end, but the whole style of events is very out there. Extremely dark humour again.
Great movie. 3 stars. Characters were funny and interesting, and the encounters and major events were indeed major and totally wild and peculiar. And honestly a few were quite emotional.
A few scenes at the end were kind of a bit too typical (maybe like 1 or 2 that make up like 2 minutes of the movie), but that's me just being a bit picky.
Highly recommended to people who won't be afraid of the dark and perverted/impoverished style.
Oh ya, Tokyo Godfathers is not a typical gangster mafia and in fact is not a gangster movie in essentially any way. The reference by the title Tokyo Godfathers in the mafia sense is very, very light and brief. The title Tokyo Godfathers is more in reference to the theme of bond between an actual godfather and in this case a baby.
Again, highly recommended to anyone except young or faint hearted/sensitive people. It's a great dark humour comedy and shows a lot of personality and great variance in intensity and solid pacing.
And I watched the beginning of Ghost in the Shell yesterday too. Just the part before the credits. That was... violent. Lol. I'll try to watch that the soonest probably.

August Rush
feelgood movie of the year
^*gasp*
The Departed is fucking fantastic. I've probably watched that movie 20 times if I've watched it once. Marty is just the fucking man. I could watch Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, all of em for the rest of my life and I would be content (not happy, I love movies) but surely content.
It's crazy. As I said, I've wanted to see the movie since it came out but every chance I had to seen it has ended up in failure. I'd rent it, but I'm far too lazy for that.

Just went to a test screening of Forgetting Sarah Marshall (it comes out on April 18th).
Great movie. There's a lot of nudity that I'd expect they'll take out of the film since there's a lot of male genitals.

District B13 - Crazy wierd french movie! The story was pretty stupid but the action was awesome so, 5/10.
From Dusk Till Dawn
why oh why! the vampires come from nowhere, the film was leading up to be great, i was hoping Richie was going to go insane and murder everyone but no they had to do a plot twist from hell, i have to applaude them in one respect that i did not see the twist coming but to be fair it was bad, they could have gone so many better ways
Duck Soup
i forget how funny Groucho, Harpo and Chico are at times, they just remind me of real life cartoons, they must have been the basis of most of the Warner Bros characters, great film too
Halloween
The best of the whole series, probabily my favourite horror film...maybe after Psycho....and The Shining
The Third Man
one of my all time favourites, a true classic that you can watch whenever
Strangers On A Train
great film, would love to get round to reading the book, is on my to do list
Enter The Dragon
best martial arts film ever made by far, all these new "crouching tiger" and "house of the flying" are all a step backwards, these are the sorts of films the asian brought out before Enter The Dragon
Deer Hunter
De Niro's best five films are for me are on par with any other actors
Deer Hunter
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Casino
Goodfellas
Once Upon A Time in America
Godfather pt II
Brazil
i can't narrow it down to 5, they are all great

Just this second finished watching American gangster
Fucking awesome film, definetly one of the best iv seen in a long time, im a massive fan of denzel and im never disappointed by one of his films he's easily my favorite actor, film is really long but kept me watching throughout, only thing i didn't like was the ending i feel it was kinda sudden and could of been a better ending to a great film, apart from that it's amazing im sure most have seen it but those who haven't...you should, best gangsta film in a long time personally i feel its on par with scarface others may disagree but definetly a 5/5 from me!

Just watched 21 tonight, it was surprisingly good. The dialogue was probably the weakest point, yet it was still definitely good, so this movie was all-around well-done IMO. Good characters, good story, good music, good directing/cinematography, and good acting as well. I definitely recommend a watch if you're looking for something very entertaining :)

Van helsing was Ist movie see last month.
30 Days of Night
No...just, no.
I watched this on a whim. I didn't really know much about it other than there were a bunch of vampires and there were, presumably, 30 days of no sun. The movie itself didn't start off too badly, but after a while everything gets tossed out the window. I'm stuck questioning just how and why certain things are happening.
An example: the vampires make a big deal about preventing other people from turning into vampires. They want to stay hidden since, "it took centuries to convince the humans they were bad dreams." Okay...so for a little bit, they start decapitating they're victims. Then, after a while, they stop doing that altogether, so there are more vampires to worry about. Also, people start turning into vampires without being bitten by them. One guy gets cut by a vampire nail and he's suddenly a vampire. Some guy wrestles with a vampire girl and suffers no wounds from it. Suddenly, he's a vampire too.
The movie begins to make less and less sense as it goes on. I never felt time pass by while watching these people survive for 30 days. Supposedly, they manage to stay alive for quite some time. And with how super strong the vampires are, they didn't even need 30 days to kill everyone. Shit, they narrowed down the population to just a dozen people in one night. You're telling me it takes another 29 to try getting the rest? And they don't even get them all!
I could go on about this movie, but I'll stop myself. All in all, the movie makes no sense. A number of things aren't explained enough to be entirely interesting, and it ends up feeling like a waste of time by the end of it. Avoid this movie.

I watched Tae Guk Gi - Brotherhood of War over the weekend.
I cried at the end. Maybe I could even say bawled my eyes out a bit. No joke.
That was a finely crafted piece of film. That ending was one of the most emotional inducing events in film I've ever seen. Because of the ending and all the events that lead up to it of course...
Wow, great, great film. A lot of violence and gore that not everyone might like (Saving Private Ryan is in the same zone of violence I think?) but this is a film to be watched and remembered.
Speeds to 3.5 stars easily. Wondering about giving it the 4 star reward, I think it may deserve it. Damn good.

Lol man hahaha.
You know what I don't get though? I don't understand why it only has 8.1 on IMDB. I think those are registered user averages or something, but that's ***king ridiculously low for an IMDB score. This movie deserves 8.5 easily going by the IMDB scale.
I mean come on... directed absurdly well and has about the most profound and well executed and insanely emotional relationship for pretty much any movie I've seen. That's better than 8.1 IMDB material for sure. IMDB is bull***t. Just a stupid popularity contest.

The Casino Royale OST came on my music list, so I thought I'd rate that.
Solid action scenes, strong directing and fight choreography, convincing sets, and a relatively emotionally charged ending. And Daniel Craig has a nice butt. 'Nuff said.
Right on the button for a 3 stars, leaning neither above or below it.

Just recently I watched this: Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (http://imdb.com/title/tt0422295/)
At first, I wasn't sure what to think about this movie, but after watching it a second time... I really enjoyed it.
It would seem that I forgot to mention some of the other movies I've watched. 30 Days of Night was that upsetting for me.
The Crow
I have to say this is one of my favorite movies of all time. I love the story to the movie (it's pretty simple, but it works incredibly well). Although most of the computer effects look bad by today's standards, the movie is still awesome. Everything about the movie strikes me as being good. Plus, whenever I watch it, I get a series of childhood memories going through my head. Good times, good times.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
I actually only caught the movie after it was an hour in already. My girlfriend was watching it prior to us hanging out, so we kept watching it. I don't really follow a lot of the Harry Potter stuff. I pretty much just know enough to amuse my girlfriend and to crack a few jokes. The movie didn't seem too great, in my opinion. However, it's only because of the subject matter. I'm not interested in little kids trying to become "wizards."
Dogma
This movie is still pretty damn funny. Nothing really more to say about it.

Harry Potter movies suck, that's all you need to know.
The books are great. Even though they as they go on they start to lack some substance, the premise is great and well conveyed.
The first three books are absolute gold in my opinion btw. You can just tell when something has done exactly what it has wanted to do and then you also understand it in the same way it wants to be so.
^Basketball? Alien? Lol. Never watched any of the Alien films but I'm a little familiar. That does sound awkward lol.

Lions For Lambs
Good.
I like the message behind it.
At first I thought it was going to be a "we'll inspire you, yay! be yourself!" kind of cheesy shit-fest but it ended up telling us that our cynical generation sucks ass which is always a reminder we need.
It strongly states you Americans should stand more behind your country when it comes to war on terror instead of being all generation X and talking about how much your government sucks and doing nothing about anything.
Some bits were very close on the borderline of being stupidly unrealistic but most of the film I thought could be real if people had the 'right' mindset so I chose to believe it.
It gets a 7/10.
Oh and I love the title, it's one of my favourite sayings.

WOW!
I watched three movies in one day. That was the most random ***t ever. First time I've done it :D
I would've only watched 1 but things happen that just can't be avoided. For example, very annoying people.
No Country for Old Men - Great movie... I really enjoyed it. Very intense. There's nothing much I would really like to say about the overall film as I'm not sure I have a total grasp on the whole concept of the film yet. The themes that hang over the film are very strong and I really liked it for that. I'll try to understand it better another time.
I really, really liked the main characters too. And the antagonist was insanely well portrayed. I hated him to death the entire film.
Also many of the intense scenes (which there are many) are very well done. You could very often feel a very great level of tension that the characters in the scenes were feeling, or as best as any film I've seen has been able to convey and that's what wins it the biggest points from me.
I was very happy I went into the film without knowing what it was about. I give it a 3.5 stars.
Old Boy - Who the hell made me watch this!? Thanks for the ridiculous themes Liquid, you bastard! Lol! The themes were ridiculously dark and I'm not sure what to make of the ending.
Liquid, question, so at the end does Dae Su still know that the girl is his daughter or is he made to forget that for his pain to go away?
What an awkward film. It's very well done and pretty intense. Despite my extreme aversion for some of the situations in the film, I still give it a 3 stars (I didn't dock it because I am sensitive to some of the film's ideas lol).
It gets such a score because of the directing and the very dark art style. The fight scenes were pretty nice too, very well choreographed (although there were only a few).
Ghost in the Shell - Glad again I didn't know anything about the film before I went into it.
The ending is very short and almost abrupt, but that seems appropriate for the film's nature oddly enough.
I did like the major philosophical theme it explored, even though pretty basically. The last scene the garbage man is in was a good strong scene to highlight the issue at hand.
Great film. Also gets a nice 3 stars.
P.S.
I'm very glad I haven't had to watch any bad films lately. I'm enjoying giving good scores to the things I'm watching :D
Thanks for the recommendations. Although... tell me if there are any insane themes and situations in the films before I watch them (e.g. Oldboy)!!

How the hell is 3 stars good scores man? lol
Just out of curiosity, did you rate anything 4 or dare I ask, any 5s?
And I'm shocked to learn you don't like intense films.
If you didn't appreciate the dark revenge tone of Oldboy, there isn't much you'll appreciate on that side of the fence.
On the ending of it: You've analysed two possible meanings of the ending, take which one you want.
The director said I believe that no-one is meant to be 100% sure, it's one of those "new wave" endings that I personally dislike so for me the film ended when the guy shot himself in the elevator. That way, it's a much stronger film for me. The idea of only living for revenge etc
curryking1
04-05-2008, 07:15 PM
I didn't say I didn't appreciate the dark tone. :(
I loved the dark tone. And I love intense films.
I just didn't like the he had sex with his daughter!
I would like a warning of 'disturbing situation' before I get into that. Not say specifically what it is (would've destroyed the movie) but at least get the generalized warning :)
And I didn't dock it points for anything because it disturbed me a bit. I can easily watch dark film noire stuff (watch Tokyo Godfathers, it's another example of dark film, there are situations, mainly one between a daughter and father, that disturbed me a bit in the film and I feel aversive to).
I mean I'm admitting I'm aversive to it, but I don't feel I can't watch it or can't appreciate it's place in a story. I understood entirely and appreciated the impact the dark situations had on the characters.
It just disturbs me a bit, that's all.
I wasn't averse to the 'new school ending' at all though. I thought it made perfect sense. I was solely averse to the situation between the main character and the girl, not greatly, but again that kind of stuff kind of disturbs me a bit.
On the ending of it: You've analysed two possible meanings of the ending, take which one you want.
The director said I believe that no-one is meant to be 100% sure,
Ok cool. I thought because he was laughing at the end he still knew that it was his daughter and the hypnosis didn't work.
Also the part where the antagonist shot himself was really appropriate, I thought he was going to do that before he did it.
And also I totally predicted right away that the girl was his daughter, The second they showed her I was like 'Why do I have a strong feeling that is his daughter...' lol.

Far from the best Guy Ritchie film, it was still pretty entertaining. I really hate Ray Liotta, so that takes some points off, but the ending was pretty cool (although somewhat predictable) and the general theme of the film was quite interesting.
I watched this today and felt pretty much the same way, just without the Ray Liotta hate.

A Tale Of Two Sisters
Japanese horror again, this time I wasn't really sure what was going on.
Korean I think.
I was strongly recommended to watch it.
It came up during Oldboy discussion (which occurs every two weeks...¬_¬) and someone mentioned another Korean cinema classic is a Tale Of Two Sisters, saying it nears OldBoy quality so in what way did you not know what was going on?
I must know before I commit and try to find this film.
Oh I lost watched Paprika (15 minns of it before i got distracted)
It was very good thus far, lots of visually interesting stuff which unfortunately doesn't come across and amazing since it's a cartoon but still nice to look at.
I don't know when I'll feel like watching the rest but so far it gets a nice 6/10.

Layer Cake
I'd seen Daniel Craig in a few other films, but this is what really made me notice him and sold me on him playing Bond.
Donnie Darko
Even though I doubt I'll ever completely understand the plot, I still love it.
Collateral
Just the basic idea behind the film is really interesting. When you consider that a fair amount of the scenes take place in a taxi cab, it's pretty impressive how intense it is. Tom Crooz and Jamie Foxx give excellent performances.
Heat
I felt like I had to watch this after watching Collateral. One of those films where you could go on and on praising everything about it, but I'll just say it's one of my favorite films of all time.

Oh, Korean.
I assumed it was Japanese because the TV channel seemed to be playing Japanese horror weekly, but I guess I'm just racist.
I didn't know what was going on, partly because I was partly asleep, partly because I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention as my mind tended to wander, as it does and partly because the film is one of those films where you're not supposed to know what's going on all the time until the end, and even then some things are a little unclear.
(I don't want to spoil it, but you could probably figure it out.)
I wouldn't say it's anywhere near as good as Oldboy.
While some of the scenes were intriguing, it wasn't as exciting as that of Oldboy.
The plots are incomparable.
Oldboy is an excellent and memorable film that I am glad to have watched.
A Tale Of Two Sisters, I will continue to forget over time.
You might enjoy A Tale Of Two Sisters if you want to.

Oh I agree, Walk hard was a cool move, nothing special or original but a solid run of gags kept it interesting to me.
I also saw james bond - tomorrow never dies a few days ago when it was on tv. It was kinda lame, nowhere near as good as some other bond films. Bond came off seeming a bit weak and girly by the end. But I can relate to that programmer guy.

Nah man, she's still so hot :P
Ouromov is such a friggin elite classic 1990s Russian general bad guy. He was PERFECT.
I love his raised eyebrow look when Bond jumps off the cliff in the opening sequence. Sooooo classic.
Also I think the tank scene is my favourite James Bond moment ever. I love that scene to death. For some reason I don't think you can pull off a scene like that and have it be classic. I think you gotta look like Pierce Brosnan.
I love Craig and not that he needs to do this with the Bond style he can achieve so well, but I don't think he has the essentially perfect image to pull off all the ridiculous stuff that Bond does in Goldeneye (the tank thing or the skydive into the falling airplane!! lol XD).

I'm about to watch the Cowboy Bebop movie.
I did some wiki-ing and googling on it and it seems like it could be one of the rare times I'd thoroughly enjoy something out of anime.
The series sounds kind of interesting too and something I'd like. Other than the general high acclaim it seems like it has worldwide, the concept reminds me of a RPG and also focused me in on this particular movie and series.
I read a lot about jazz music influences so that also made me more interested.
I'm also liking how it seems like a pretty short series so I won't have to stay on top of it for very long. I'll get the episodes probably after.
The movie doesn't do the Cowboy Bebop series any justice..

Takes place in Mexico; the plot involves a string of events that are all tied to each other (and other people). This movie was pretty graphic; there were a few scenes with bloodied dog bodies, dog fights, etc. If you can stand subtitles to an entirely Spanish movie, and aren't offended by animal violence - you should definitely give this movie a watch.

I am Legend
Pretty lame if you asked me. So some virus that cures cancer goes airborne and they try to block off New York City....wait...it's airborne, right? How would blowing up bridges help out? Also, for being this super scientist soldier guy, Will Smith was pretty lame. So he stabs himself with a knife on accident. Instead of running away to his car on one leg, he starts being a bitch and crawls. Up until the zombie dogs attack. Then he's sobbing because he got his dog killed.
Okay, honestly, I hated that part. I liked the dog.
But yeah, there was very little explanation about how the virus went airborne and why it turned everyone into bald zombies with a weakness to sunlight. For half the movie, Will Smith is living a pretty easy life despite the lack of human contact. Then after they killed off the dog, he goes crazy and out of no where, some chick and kid come out. No seriously...how did they fight off those things at night?
And then towards the end of the movie, Will Smith decides to sacrifice himself in a cliché manner. While this is going on, I'm forced to watch the same zombie animations over and over. The movie ends with the chick and kid going up north because apparently, the cold helps out.
After looking at a synoposis of the book, the book sounded a bit better.

HPK, if you didn't really like that ending, I believe the DVD/Blu Ray release has an alternate ending (probably the original one they went with). I haven't seen the other ending yet but I'm eager to.
I just saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall today and I loved it. Jason Segel was very likeable, and I think he wrote a really good script here too. The songs he wrote were good too, and both chicks in it are very hot so that worked out. Russell Brand was also hilarious. :)
I watched To Sir, With Love.
A classic movie starring Sidney Poitier, it was a very simple and charming movie where Sidney Poitier's character begins teaching at a school in a British slum.

Thanks for the link, that was very cool to watch. I like that ending a lot because all the hints throughout the story that they are conscious beings went unanswered, and this really brought the story together more. Not sure why the studio wanted them to reshoot over that ending either since it wasn't a "bad" one at all.
See, that's a better ending to I Am Legend. It gives us a sense that they aren't just a bunch of balding vampire zombies, but I have to admit: I was very surprised they didn't just kill Will Smith and the other two. I kind of like how it just ended with them leaving the city (though I do question why that bridge was still in tact).
Also, it gives that one infected guy a role (the one who ran out into the sun and smashed up his head against the glass). I was wondering why he was considered the main antagonist. This ending gave him more of a purpose.
I think they just went with the martydom ending because people seem to love it when main characters sacrifice their lives for the greater good. I like them too, but I prefer those kinds of endings to make sense. Actually, the martydom didn't upset me as much as the ending lines. "We are his legend." What? Isn't that the wrong word to use? "legacy" would've made more sense.

Yeah, I think the sacrifice itself wasn't bad, but it's just that this alternate ending really gave meaning to a lot of earlier events.

One of those movies that you know is a bit stupid, but you still like it anyway. Christian Bale has been good in every movie I've seen him in and Matthew McConaughey's crazy axe-wielding dragonslayer character is a trip.

Watched Juno last night with a chick from work. It was actually better then I thought. For some reason I figured it was going to be more of a chick flick then anything. But some of my other friends from work said they enjoyed the movie as well.
Cloverfield
The movie was pretty interesting, but I thought it was kind of weird how that camera just kept lasting throughout the entire movie (and how, even in life-or-death situations, that camera couldn't be abandoned). I liked the direction the film was going in, but the whole, "I gotta save this girl I've been crushing on for years!" thing was pretty stupid. He got everyone he was travelling with killed all over this bitch that somehow manages to survive a pole through her chest and a helicopter crash.
The ending was kind of....meh. The audio clip at the end didn't do much (I wonder how they survived all those bombs anyway). The alternate endings didn't change things either. I guess I am never satisfied with endings.
But I enjoyed the movie, despite how unrealistic the "realism" was, I found it to be a fun movie. I'll probably pick it up at some point.

Lost Highway (the first 5 freakin' minutes)
I don't know why but I feel bad for not posting in this thread for so long (because it means I haven't watched a movie in so long) but recently got Lost Highway from the library after a friend 'ordered' me basically to watch a bit more David Lynch.
Why did I only watch the first 5 mins?
My PC DVD driver fucked up again (does that now and then) so it froze/ made weird noises etc and I ended up not being able to watch more (now the DVD is returned).
The first 5 mins were great, I liked the style and the tension of the characters (though I thought they were bad actors but it somehow added to it) and I can't wait to go home, legally purchase this and watch the rest.

Aliens vs Predator 2
First of all; most of the movie I didn't know what the hell was going on because everything was so freakin' dark.
I'm pretty sure my eyesight got raped whilst watching this movie.
Second of all, it doesn't help predator and aliens look a like, the only way I found to tell them a part is the predator has dreadlocks whilst the aliens don't but since this movie is so dark, you can't see the dreadlocks most of the time so most of the movie me and my brother were going:
"oh, the alien just got owned...I think?"
"No, that was the predator..."
"how do you know?"
"I don't. im guessing..."
They don't even do anything anyway for the first 40mins.
Urgh, the first 40mins.........I seriously don't want to talk about it but the film basically tries to set up the characters and you end up hating every one of them because the script is 100 times worse than any teen romcom shit FOX puts out there combined.
It's funny though because of it's one liners:
"They'll be here soon."
"NOT SOON ENOUGH!"
The action was also extremely dull and were edited way too frantically.
Mix that with the fact that it's too dark and it was basically- LOUD NOISES! SOMETHING SPLATTERS! END OF FIGHT!
Also I had no idea what the fuck happened at the very end but that was basically because I got up to eject the disc and was just waiting for the credits to roll so I didn't really pay attention.
Horrible fucking movies, only way to enjoy this is to get drunk with your friends so you can make fun of it and also, turn up your brightness to 5million percent before watching this.

Curse my lies!
But I just couldn't be fucked to torrent stuff.
So I watched Cloverfield instead (rent DVD lying around).
I found this pretty boring and annoying.
I still don't get why the director wanted us to hate these people, it made the film pretty pointless.
If we liked them we would be 'in the moment' but since I wanted all of them to die or didn't care enough to react to them dying or living, I just didn't give a shit.
So what ended up happening was I basically watched them walk while they spew annoying as fuck dialogue at each other for 1 and a half hours all the whilst the cameraman couldn't hold the fucking camera straight for once.
I know it's meant to be hand-held and etc but I'm pretty sure normal un-trained camera operators can hold the fucking thing straight!
It pushed the "OMG LOOK IT IZ HANDHELDZ CAMERAZ LULZ!!" agenda way too hard and it frustrated me.
*zoomz in*
"OMG AM I ZOOMING IN LOL I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO OPERATE THIZ LULZ"
That actually happens. (minus the internet talk)
I just wanted to eloborate on the annoying dialogue comment.
It was full of "like", "totally", "dude" and "Rob".
Here is an example:
DUDE! ROB! ROB! ROB!!! WE SHOULD TOTALLY LIKE DUDE ROB!!"
And at core this was really a love movie.
If at the end it showed the 'lovers' being ripped apart by the monster, I would have given it 10/10 but it doesn't and as it stands it's a horrible movie, there is nothing in it except when the monster made it's first attack, that bit was fun but overall:

It was better than what I expected but must all these recent Hollywood films be evolved around girlfriend/boyfriend relationships, jeez.
It's like no matter what genre I watch all of the movies are aimed at 16 year old girls.
The beginning was my favourite part, the pace and the style of the introduction of his powers was done very well and then after that it went to a "eh ok" kind of film.
The action scenes weren't that awesome and most of them lacked creativity but they weren't boring at least, nice sit down and watch style as you would expect.

I really wanted to see Wall-E since that's been on my mind for a while after the trailers and the awesome praise it's been getting from every reliable source BUT, instead, I've watched 'Be Kind Rewind' which was surprisingly inspiring.
I thought it would be a comedy and it kind of was, the way they re-shoot the films are humorous but for me I was more amazed with how they improvised the props and the sets that they didn't have.
It was pretty intriguing.
I kind of have a dislike for Jack Black but this role fit him very well and he pulled it off nicely so kudos to him.
I also liked how the resolution of the film didn't feel like "we have a problem?! WELL LET'S COME TOGETHER AND SOLVE IT! YAYYYYYYYY!" although it kinda was but since the ending isn't wrapped up TOO clearly, it doesn't feel like it.
So an inspiring comedy about film making with an ending that doesn't feel cheesy?
Damn right it's going to get 8/10 (this feels generous for some reason but 7/10 feels not enough and I don't give 7.2.32.2.42 scores)

Wanted
What a kick ass, no holds barred, action ride. The special effects were awesome, the story line was great, Angelina looked smokin, the main character was great, and it definitely earned its rated R rating. Just a non-stop joyride. I literally found myself laughing out loud in action scenes in pure glee.

Hancock
ending was a bit too dramatic and lost me, but overall very good movie. Not typical. It felt fresh, Will Smith was funny, and the humor was spot-on besides the action. Definitely worth a watch, just be prepared for a slow ending, but it picks back up before the movie actually ends;)
8/10

Stupid predictable plot, which was saved by the action, which was awesome.

7.5/10
Awesome movie. Story was really good, gotta think though cuz my lil brother didn't even get it untill I explained it to him. All good except the crappy ending leaving you with a garunteed, "WTF" or "ooook". All good actors for the most part....except The Game....and Cedric
The Hulk
7/10
First of all that Brazilian chick around 00:17:00 was hoooooot....yeah, I DO time my movies at the theater with a stopwatch and just happened to know what time that girl apppeared :shifty:
Anyway, I thought this movie was...ok...but kinda meh. Iron Man sweeps the floor with this movie. It wasn't stupid...but also wasn't mindblowing.

At first it felt like it would be just random pointless blabbing (as the film best put it, "all theory, no action") and some bits were indeed just that but by 'some' I only mean around 5% of the film.
The rest of it was fascinating and I really like the way it's animated so even if the topic is boring you can look at the imagery and appreciate that instead.
Watching this reminded me of my experience of reading The Alchemist.
Some bits were new and exciting to the point of inspiration, some bits I felt I already knew and it wasn't presented in any new way and some bits were over-done and I felt like they were over doing the evaluating outlook.
Overall though I think almost anyone would find this interesting if you are in the right mood as it is about human nature and things we all wonder now and then.
A very solid 8/10.
Zwartboek (Black Book)
[ This is probably the only Nazi-related film that I'd care to watch again. ]
The movie takes place in the Netherlands during the end of WWII following the journey of a young Jewish woman ( Ellis de Vries / Rachel Stein ) who joins the Dutch resistance to infiltrate a Gestapo Headquarters and gets tangled within the own lies she spins as a spy for the resistance.

^ That's the only reason I want to see the movie; I loved Del Toro's creatures in Pan's Labyrinth.
Steel Magnolias
You should have seen this coming, guys...
Surprisingly, however, this was a great movie! Had some of the best acting I'd seen in a long time, and it's probably the best movies for quotes. I think Sally Field could have done the emotional breakdown a bit better; I almost started laughing at one point, but the rest of the movie was spot-on.

Great movie to watch when you're high, if that's your thing.
Worth a watch either way though. I've seen it a few times and really liked it. It gets you to think.

Were they ever. I went Friday night which I think was the opening night. And damn, that was such a wicked movie. I figured it would be good but it surpassed my expectations.

I heard Hellboy II was great. Read a bunch of reviews that the style was simply sweet. IIRC I also heard that there were scenes well done with limited talking and more gestures or something? I thought that was cool.
Apparently Sony Pictures dropped the franchise along with the studio in Revolution. Universal snatches them up and pumps out a sweet movie.
Sony Pictures definitely dropped the ball with the 'This isn't a profitable franchise for us.'

^Yes Hellboy II was a wicked ass movie. Its one you really can't pass up on if you want something totally different.
Just finished watching Rambo. That new one obviously. Anyways, fuck this movie was way better then i thought. I loved all the gore and action. Even watched it in HD which made it that much better ;). Anyways, the movie kinda had a strange ending, well I thought it was weird.....
