This is so huge. They're the like the non-japanese equivalent to Square-Enix. I read some past interviews and they also sound like Nintendo.

This is great news, some of Biowares RPGs are one of my favorite game experiences on the PC!

Bioware owns...I'm still hoping for Jade Empire to get a sequel and a new KOTOR.
That's great news for the DS.

Oh they are the ones that created KOTOR? The first game was great and I still haven't completed it. Never played the 2nd game, but I need a strategy guide for the first game. I think I'm gonna buy one off of Ebay or something.

They made the first KOTOR, but I think someone else made the second, Obsidian maybe?
I thought the sequel improved the gameplay but the story wasn't as good.

^ Well, KOTOR 2 was developed by Obsidian in co-operation with Bioware.

I didn't know Bioware was involved that much in making the game.
Do you know if they helped with creating the story?

^Go play KOTOR or Jade Empire
But that would require somehow attaining an Xbox (as far as I know) along with those games.

Please explain why Bioware kicks so much ass.
For starters, as mentioned before, they created KOTOR (Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic), which received much critical acclaim including:
GameSpy
• Xbox Game of the Year 2003
• Overall Game of the Year 2003, across all platforms
2004 Game Developers Choice Awards
• Game of the Year
• Original Game Character (HK-47)
• Excellence in Writing
IGN
• Best Sound (Xbox category)
• Best Story (PC category)
• Xbox RPG Game of the Year 2003
• PC RPG Game of the Year 2003
• Xbox Game of the Year 2003
• PC Game of the Year 2003
• Overall Game of the Year 2003, across all platforms
Gamespot
• Best Game Based on a TV or Film Property
• Xbox Game of the Year 2003
• RPG Game of the Year 2003, across all platforms
• Computer Gaming World - Game of the year
• PC Gamer - Game of the year
• Interactive Achievement Awards - Best story/character development
• Official Xbox Magazine Game Of The Year 2003
• In March 2004, GMR Magazine rated Knights of the Old Republic, the best Star Wars game of all time.
• G4's show X-Play named the original KOTOR their Game of the Year in 2003.
• The game is part of The Xbox Platinum Series, for sales in excess of 1 million units.
So, KOTOR wasn't too shabby. Besides KOTOR, here's a list of other games they've made, most of which are pretty well known for good reason (namely that they're great games):
Dreamcast
Baldur's Gate
MDK2
Macintosh
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
Neverwinter Nights
Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark
Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
PC
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn -- Collector's Edition
Baldur's Gate II: The Collection
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
Baldur's Gate: Gold Edition
Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
BioWare MMO project
Dragon Age
Jade Empire
Jade Empire: Special Edition
MDK2
Neverwinter Nights
Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition
Neverwinter Nights Gold Edition
Neverwinter Nights Platinum Edition
Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark
Neverwinter Nights: Kingmaker
Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide
Shattered Steel
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
PlayStation
Baldur's Gate
PlayStation 2
MDK2 Armageddon
Xbox
Jade Empire
Jade Empire: Limited Edition
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
So, they've made the popular Baldur's Gate games, the popular Neverwinter Nights games, the popular KOTOR games, and Jade Empire (not personally so familiar with this one but I know it scored well in reviews).

Lets see if they make a Baulder's gate game for the DS. I played Dark Alliance and liked it alot. Shame the sequal never hit the GC.

Man, I would kill for something like Jade Empire on DS. That game is amazing.
I'll be waiting impatiently to see what Bioware pulls out.
A new franchise wouldn't hurt, too. :P

Bioware doesn't do D&D licensed games anymore and they didn't make the console ones, but another company is still continuing Baldur's Gate. A seperate company does the console versions I think.
If only Bioware and Obsidian combined then that would truly be Square-Enix only Bioware-Obsidian.

Do you know if they helped with creating the story?I dunno what they exactly did on the game, perhaps just overlooking the development like they are doing with the new Neverwinter Nights sequel. I just know that a lot of sites set "Oblivion Entertainment / Bioware" as the developer which means they must have done something with it, lol.

I hate to be simply an echo, but this is AWESOME. KOTOR is a great game, and the only RPG I've ever played through twice (so the Dark Side could win the second time.) I'm looking forward to DS games immensly.

Hmm...maybe they just helped Obsidian with a little bit of everything. :)

Yeah Bioware's games are probably my favorite to play through again. With all the branching storylines and different choices you can make it's cool how the game changes each time you play.

This is some huge news. I loved KOTOR, though never got to the 2nd one cause i heard it was a lot like the first, and I thought it was kinda long. An awesome game with a storyline better then that of the first 3 episodes of star wars.

The Dark Alliance games were shit compared to what Bioware could do. Whether you playing a D&D license game or not you could choose race, class, alignment, make choices that heavily affected the game, multiclass, did not pull hack n slash, had so much RPG complexity, etc Other RPGs say they do this, but they don't. With Bioware I really don't give a crap if Blizzard started working on the DS or Wii with Diablo 3 unless it's strategy.

I don't need complexity, I perfer simplicity. Complexity is just a roadblock in the way of entertainment. Easy leveling up, choosing a few stats, and killing the shit out of anything I see. That's fun to me. Not decided if I need one more point in this or that to defeat this particular enemy or this to seduce some female chracter or something else entirely. It's more effort than what's necessary.

Just because I'm a Nintendo gamer doesn't mean I have to praise any company that develops for Nintendo, and just because I'm a Star Wars fan doesn't mean I have to care about a company that makes star wars games.

If it's work then it's not a game. So the problem is look of it. Whatever you choose doesn't matter. You choose what you want and then play from there. It's like choosing your favorite color. No demon is going to rape if you choose pink. Plus they have "recommend" buttons that you can just pick and play from there. If it's still to complex for you then choose the first choice or the first thing you see.
