I was thinking 2 Disc spec edition, 1st disc is MGS4 (i mean, we dont quite know how much of the disc it'll use) and the 2nd, Metal Gear games and MEtal Gear Solid games... aswell as some videos and stuff.

Call this a rumor, call it BS, but it might be true. It is Kotaku so take it with a ten ton grain of salt. I just hope it is true. Let the pre-orders begin!:pinky:
http://kotaku.com/339282/gamestop-puts-a-release-date-on-metal-gear-solid-4
Kotaku reader/Gamestop employee Sean let us know today that his employer has begun the pre-ordering process for Konami's PlayStation 3 system seller Metal Gear Solid 4, starting today. The retailer has targeted June 17 of 2008 as the game's ship date, near the end of the second quarter release Konami and Kojima Productions promised us on Halloween. While Gamestop has been known to apply impossible release dates to products without a definitive date and Konami itself hasn't officially announced such a specific timeframe, this one is looking largely legit.

Hey man I can wait 5 years.
But June 17th sounds good too :p
I've already pre-ordered it anyway and I'm thinking of buying 2 or 3 copies to show my appreciation for Hideo's loyalty (he stuck with PS3 despite pressure from Konami to go multi-platform).

Really, ho many times do they have to repeat themselves? It's not coming, and that's the end of it.
PS3 and 360 are too different to allow for a game like MGS4 to be ported. It relies very heavily on the unique parts of the PS3 architecture.

so MGS is coming to the 360 then after all...
edit: just kidding. this is a deliberate attempt to spoil the sales of this game on the PS3, but i don't think it will work with PS3 owners... it might however stop 360 owners buying a PS3 for this game because they may believe that a wait is preferable to paying out money for the PS3. IT STINKS!

This debate reminds me that I'd like to see these special things MGS4 is doing because the things I thought it would do like dynamic battles, ridable vehicles and dynamic animations were absent in the game-play demonstration plus the 4D OctoCam proved to be simple pre-baked texture switching.
From what we have been shown this title would suffer at all from being ported to the 360 (even divided in segments for easy disc swapping).
It just makes me wanna puke when 3'rd party developers try to sell a game as something special which takes advantage of the PS3 and then throw us a pile of 360 with a port to come.
I'm so hoping it isn't empty words and that MGS4 actually will be the epic ending I've... we have been waiting for this long.
Sephiroth_VII

We know of at least one ridable vehicle, Metal Gear Rex, but I don't see other vehicles being ridable. In my humble opinion, it wouldn't fit with the spirit of MGS. You know, it doesn't really fit with a stealth game.
BTW: All we've seen of MGS so gfar is ONE LEVEL, for cris' sake, and it wasn't even finished.

If any team can take full advantage of the PS3 it is Kojima's team because you look at the past MGSs and you'll see how much power they got out of the PS1 and PS2. Kojima is a very one platform minded developer. Look at MGS2 when it was port over to Xbox they never really got to work as smoothly on xbox as they did on ps2.

Very true but I'm only listing things that Kojima has mentioned.
The section divided game area with heavily scripted AI events are just too far from what he initially presented as an open free battle where one's actions invoke the outcome.
Plus the animations are way too static, I'd say last gen static which is far from Kojima's talk about wanting Solid to act realistic and dodge his head when bullets fly by.
Not forgetting the OctoCam(the first true next gen thing the Konami executives had seen) which they had this whole PR stunt about copy righting.
What we have been shown is far from the initially hyped aspects and quite realistic on the 360 without any mentionable drawbacks (it could in fact be improved a bit).
Now I'm not saying MGS4 will be a bad game or that I'm not getting it, in fact as a MGS fan I love the things we have seen like the ability to play with the AI and the new nifty control-scheme.
But as a PS3 tech freak who wants MGS4 to be a "invite your friends over and wow them" show piece it's an insult and already released titles like Uncharted EDIT: and Asassin's Creed aren't alone more ahead, they are also closer to the promises Kojima gave.
Let's just hope Konami will be open about a 360 version so people who can't decide between the two consoles won't wake up to the announcement of a 360 port just after they purchased a PS3 for MGS4.

Kojima also said that quite a few of these things (in what he called the movement from realism to naturalism) may be dropped if they can't pull it off and keep the game looking respectable graphically. Not that they're graphics whores, but the amount of assets & art involved with an MGS game (especially MGS4) can be much more taxing than the average game. If these things end up not being in there, there's a very good reason for it. Snake Eater was also supposed to be one big jungle through which you make your way through, but due to the PS2's obvious hardware limitations with an undertaking like that, it's not really possible.
Kojima is the best of the best, though. He knows how to make a game next-gen like nobody else's business, and the demo you've seen that you don't like the animations of (among other things) hasn't been released to the public for that very reason -- KojiPro isn't 100% satisfied with it (even as a demo). Rest easy, my good sir. MGS4 will top it all :-D

I do not doubt the greatness of the game (my entrance point to the PS3 since TGS '05), only the status as a technical showpiece.
There's just nothing which really screams next gen apart from the flickering shadows. And it was quite a shock to me as it's the first time I've seen a MG(S) title actually lacking behind other games of its time in visuals and feel.
Now that wouldn't mean so much if Kojima's words about focusing on things that can't be seen and the garden comments plus the talk about destructive environment but even that has (in the demo at least) transformed into last gen MGS' section based game-play with scripted events (even more scripted now with the battles).
It would be neat if they came out and said the scripting was only for demo purposes (which I really hoped for) but instead Ryan P. came out and said that it was how the game is; no scripting was added.
Now I'm not crying, I'd just like to see some of the early promises to turn out to be true instead of empty PR words before claiming MGS4 to be a PS3 tech showpiece which can't be done on any other console.

Development heavyweights go head to head; Metal Gear creator talks desire to create violent games
It seems the editors of Famitsu may have hired a new staff writer: in the latest issue, the magazine has enlisted the help of Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond in interviewing famed Japanese developer Hideo Kojima.
In the piece, translated by Develop, Raymond spoke of the differences in culture and play style between different game markets, and asked Kojima how he creates games that are anticipated in both his native Japan and the West.
“The fundamentals of game design, and how the game controls, come from listening to my instinct, so those aspects get made first,” replied Kojima.
“The rest we adjust depending on the region. For example, the new system where you can read books to restore your spirit is in all versions of the game, but things like the speed of the recovery are changed depending on region.”
Raymond then asked how he feels about violence in games, given the current issues surrounding games and the Japanese market.
“I don’t think there are many games that tackle violence head on,” he said.
“When you hit someone or inflict pain, faces get disfigured for example, and I want to make games that show that sort of thing.”
“If you don’t see the pain, you can’t understand what you’ve done, and you’ll pass through battles without taking responsibility for your actions. I don’t want to ignore that. I want players to think, even if it’s just a little, about what violence and war are.”
Finally, talk turned to the recently released Assassin’s Creed, which Raymond admits takes much inspiration from Metal Gear Solid.
Kojima heaped the Ubisoft Montreal development team with similar praise, saying: “I’ve got to choose my words carefully so that I’m not misunderstood, but I think there are fewer developers around today who think about making a good game. As a creator, I find that sad, but when I see teams like the Assassin’s Creed team it gives me confidence. I want Assassin’s Creed to sell well.”Develop (http://www.developmag.com/news/29006/Jade-Raymond-interviews-Hideo-Kojima)

CES 2008 MGS4 Impressions
What can I say? This game in INCREDIBLE. The first two things that really caught my attention was the lighting (sunlight looked like sunlight, shade looked like shade) and the sound. The demo had about 5 guns you could use and each one had a distinct sound to it that sounded truly authentic and visceral. After a quick tutorial from the Konami rep (who interestingly told me that the game was due Q2 2008 and that they were targeting 1080p), I got to finally play. It was the same level from the TGS. I was able to switch from auto-aim to manual-aim modes easily. Killed a few guys and picked them up to try an shake some ammo out of them. Noticed that the bodies reacted realistically to the objects around them when they died (falling body hitting a car hood with ragdoll physics) . Otocamo was cool, works automatically just by coming into contact with a surface. Noticed it was a little difficult for me to take cover against a wall. I was used to playing Drake and just running up to a wall, pressing a button, and watching him stick to the wall. Snake was giving me some attitude in this department. Threw a couple grenades and watched enemies roll around on the ground on fire. This game is going to sell millions. From what I saw it pretty well polished (especially in the visual department). I couldn't help but imaging what kind of epic boss battles this game has in store with this graphics/physics engine.
Lol, those are my impressions.

For certain games like MGS4 and Assassins Creed it makes perfect sense and sounds great to me. I look forward to seeing how Kojima implements this idea in MGS4. I would not want this to be implemented in every game though. Some games are meant to be cartoonish in their violence and would ruin the atmosphere of games like GTA or Ratchet and Clank. Games like Crysis could benefit from this idea though for sure.

http://anonyme.archive-host.com/664vgcp_kv777ih9im.gif
so powerful... :-p
And I don't know if you have noticed also on this gif, the way the shadow is rendered. notice the multiple shadow when the helghast is falling down, there's one on the wall behind and one lighter on the ground. Maybe it 'll be the first game to implement that sort of lighting. Having multiple sources of lighting and shadows at the same time.
I remember ages ago, the first teaser of RE4 showing that kind of thing, but it was never implemented before.

Are you trying to say that realistic violence in video game should make us feel sorry for killing a virtual person? Nope, sorry, not going to happen. Not for me at least. I all ready know real life violence is wrong unless its in self defense or is justified(like if someone rapes my daughter for example). But video game violence? It is just a game. If we go down that route then we might as well agree with the Jack Thompson crowd. Do YOU agree with the JT crowd?

That's true, video games are made to be entertainments. games like GTA where you kill those cops and poeple on the street don't really put the player and let them think " oh damn, sorry for you .
But I think Kojima as usual wants to make and to let the psychological part of you and of a game thinking about your emotionsand maybe simulate what we can't feel in the real world....Not everyone has taken a bullet in the leg.

Over 70 Weapons in MGS4: New English Demo Footage

mg3-copy.jpg Kojima revealed at TGS that there would be over 70 weapons in Metal Gear Solid 4, and what’s more they would be customisable. With CES going on right now, we are getting new footage of some of these weapons. Watching these five new videos from the MGS4 English demo, it’s almost safe to say that Kojima has done it again.
Kojima continues to announce new features, such as being able to play the game in First Person Mode, suggesting that there isn’t anything Snake can’t do. Furthermore, with over 70, MGS4 is going to be one of the most feature full games to come out in 2008.

Yah, Kojima as usual is try to make a political point. I respect that. He makes his games a platform for his view on pacifism. They are decidedly anti-war. Heck, I am anti-war. War only belongs in games, that way no one really dies. By making his game a political platform he is making his games something more than just games. And if only say a few people in 10 get what he is saying, then maybe he made a difference about their views on the real world.
Kojima and people like him is one reason why I want to move to Japan.
I've seen that phrase "set to reveal new features" tossed around a few times. I want to say it is just smoke, like what else is there to reveal? I would assume everything else would be left for the retail disc to be inserted into our console.

how is MGS going to play? if you pick one faction over the other, will you be able to desert (so to speak) and what will be the repercussions of that?

This is the reason why I'm a sony fan. Not because of Sony, but because of the types of games the big up.
MGS is really one of the few games that should be in the movies...
I thought Kojima achieved getting emotion out of players pretty well in snake eater when snake walks through the river of dead soldiers he killed on his journey toward the sorrow so i for one think it works if done correctly.

No, Hideo Kojima is.
That's true. I still don't agree with it though. He also said games are not art, but I think hs is wack for saying that. What I do believe is that his idea will add to the impact his games have while playing them. That rocks something major. MGS is one of those games that will benefit from any added realism. I almost feel like a PS3 remake of every MGS game is in order just to make use of all this new tech.

Yeah , and the score by harry Gregson Willams or Hanz Zimmer.
Hope we ' ll hear some infos upon the upcoming movie. Or maybe could be great to have a tv series animated coz sometimes live sucks...lol
I don't like live tv series taken from movies or video games. I recently heard about a blade tv series which looked awful....I watched few vids on youtube , it's so gross...
But I agree MGS series is awesome. And when I played COD4 and seing how the game was done with the music tone, the story etc I felt sympathy for all the characters especually at the end. And all those conflicts in the game in the middle east the scene where you are in the car and you see all those things happening on the street , the exectuions etc...It was so well rendered that you could question yourself and say " what the hell am i doing here ".
Maybe the next step is to make feel the player unconfortable abour his actions and his surrounding environment. So that's why I think It could be great to have games with the option to do ( kill ) or not to do some actions.
And that's where the A.I or a simulated A. I should respond. like a soldier being alone and running for safety like we' ve seen in the MGS4 trailers but not too scripted.

I will hold a funeral for each character I kill.
Seriously though; remember the 'death river' (or whatever) in MGS3 where all the enemies you've killed appeared around you as ghosts as you were walking along the river.
And if you killed a lot (like me), you had to wait for ages.
That I think was a good lesson.
Something like that should be implemented in MGS4 but next tiem let us know that something like that is in the game.
I thought my game broke or something when I walked for about 11 minutes.

I know the youtube vids make the FPS mode guns look terrible but I even noticed them in the 720pHD vid from the PSN.
Now you all listen to me; I do not play in FPS mode, I play in good ole mGS fashion BUT I can only imagine that since it is trying to appeal to western gamers, I'm sure that if this doesn't get improved, it'll be getting docked points for it in the review. RUNON SENTENCE.
So that is to say that personally I do not care about FPS mode but think that when those douchebag reviewers get a hold of it, they will want to test that out and if it isn't up to snuff then they'll, well you know.

don't know if this has been posted:
MGS4 Contains Metal Gear Online Starter Pack: DLC to Follow
by Patrick Steen on January 9, 2008
metal-gear-solid-4-ps3-05-copy.jpg From an interview at CES 2008, where Kojima’s Playstation 3 offering is being demoed to a lucky few, comes the confirmed news that Metal Gear Online will be included with the purchase of the single player game, MGS4. It is, however, an online starter pack.
News has been flip flopping over whether Metal Gear Online will be included with MGS4, or whether it will be purchased separately. In an interview with Gamespot, Konami’s director of Konami, puts the rumours to rest. A Metal Gear Online starter pack will be included in the shipped MGS4 game.
They haven’t yet disclosed how many maps there will be in the pack, but “there will be an element of the online component within Metal Gear 4, to capture that online experience.”
What does this imply? Does this mean the fully featured Metal Gear Online will be available separately, where MGS4 owners will own a fraction of this? It’s my belief that MGS4 will be the sole way to purchase Metal Gear Online, where the starter pack will then be fleshed out throughout 2008, adding new maps through downloadable content. If this is the case, then it’s a pretty sweet deal.
Getting a Metal Gears Solid game and an online component that will be further supported, is a dream come true. If the fully featured Metal Gear Online was available separately from the get go, it would make Metal Gear fans buy two games instead of one.
Konami’s director supports my suspicions that Metal Gear Online will only be purchasable through MGS4 in her following statement: “Within the rest of the year we will be stragically providing content.”
Kojima’s MGS4 is set for release in Q2 of this year.

Heres some good news
On the latest episode of the Kojima Productions Report podcast, Associate Producer Ryan Payton announced some news that'll warm the hearts of every eager Metal Gear fan the world over: Metal Gear Solid 4 is almost done, and won't slip past the second quarter.
"We are on the eve of entering the bug-checking phase, which means that we're pretty far along," Payton said. Bugs not withstanding (and with a few pieces, such as the opening cinematic, still missing), the game can already be played "from start to finish." While Payton said it's standard practice at Kojima Productions to continue to add and refine features even as close to weeks from finalizing the code, they are now mostly in the bug-squashing phase.
Payton, who was joined on this episode by recently departed 1UP alumnae Mark MacDonald, also assured that MGS4 -- which last year slipped past it's end of 2007 release date into 08 -- would not be slipping again. "We're committed to this quarter-two release date, this release time-frame," Payton said. "Mr. Kojima, of all people, is committed to it, because he really hates to disappoint people. And I know that he is embarrassed by what happened with the 2007 slip into 2008."
That's not to say that a specific release date is set, though, despite those listed by retailers and banding about in Internet rumors. "We're still going back and forth with marketing about when we're going to do the release -- it's going to be a simultaneous worldwide release," Payton said. "It's not going to be the same day, but more like what Halo's done, where it's the same week. We're still trying to strategize it, and make sure it works for all territories. Any date you're seeing is just speculation."
Payton also expressed his hopes that MGS4's second-quarter release will help break the stranglehold the fall quarter has on video game releases. "This could be a big opportunity, you know, second quarter, to prove to retailers and other publishers that you can have a huge hit in those months, that people are willing to play games just as they're willing to go to movies."
And lastly, while it has nothing to do with release time-frames, there was one last bit of great MGS4 news: you'll be able to pause cut-scenes. Rejoice, young, stalwart gamer, for no more will you have to sit uncomfortably through a lengthy, unexpected cut-scene while nature calls.

Mr. Kojima, I and many other will wait for a LONG time for MGS4. We know you have to make it perfect, otherwise it would not be MGS. We know you are like Valve, the game is done when it is done.
And I would pay cash money for any downloaded MGS materials. I am a MGS whore and will pay. Sony knows this os us MGS whores. They will make LOOT off of us and we will love it. Why will we love it? Because it will mean more MGS for us.

Yeah I can't wait for that. I'm pulling out my voodoo doll as we speak.
And what he said was interesting, that they had announcements coming in like a few weeks. I wonder if they were dealing with like the toys and stuff. Well they have to have announcements about the release date and pre-order stuff.
Not necessarily. They talked about figurines (of all sizes) and said they also have some other stuff planned.
But I will not deny that I HOPE it is release date and pre-order stuff but I think at this point it is a little far for that.

Though Kojima Productions and Konami aren't ready to announce a final release date, they did mention to us that we should hear that announcement in late February. As soon as Konami formally announces a date for MGS 4, we'll be sure to let you know, but until then, expect Solid Snake's latest adventure to arrive sometime during Q2, 2008.

I pretty much don't care what Kojima does... all his games are great... He is like Miyamoto in a non-kiddy-nintendo world (yes, nearly all of Miyamotos and Nintendos first party games ARE kiddy games, not that it is bad, but... I prefer "mature" themed games, and this is where Kojima comes in)
I thought the 3 products are all MGS related? And he said that they are not all digital media.
I was disappointed that I have to wait at least a week for more news. All of a sudden if seems that the MGS podcast has turned into 'talk about what is on Ryan's mind' podcast. Metal Gear Solid 4 First Look Preview
[ PS3 ]

Snake’s last hurrah creeps ever closer
As futile as most internet petitions may be, the power of an army of united voices is clearly very much still as real as it ever was. Following the announcement that he was abdicating the MGS throne after Snake Eater, Hideo Kojima started to feel the force of a legion of outraged fans. Demanding the return of Kojima to MGS4, the hate mail and even death threats started to pour in and it wasn’t too long before the gaming legend was back on board, now co-directing Guns Of The Patriots with his would-be successor Shuyo Murata. So whether it was Kojima’s intention to work on the project all along or whether the bullying zealots dragged him back against his wishes, the gang’s all here now and they’ll be looking to send Snake off with one hell of a bang.
Whereas MGS3 turned the clock back to set the scene for the entire franchise, Guns Of The Patriots fits in at the opposite end of the timeline. The year is 2014 and Kojima Productions has projected a grim future indeed. A relaxing of the laws that govern military activity in foreign countries quickly leads to business-based wars, for which rival firms take to hiring armies of mercenaries to do their immoral bidding. And with the largest of these mercenary firms making up Liquid Ocelot’s Outer Haven organisation and soon growing to rival even the US army in size, the powers that be decide something needs to be done.
Enter Snake, looking rather worse for wear and now going by the codename Old Snake to reflect his worryingly speedy loss of youth.
Acting on a personal hit put out by series stalwart Roy Campbell rather than his usual line in secretive government affairs, players will step into the shoes of the ageing Snake on a mission that looks as though it will incorporate familiar faces from every step of the Metal Gear saga so far. Effeminate limelight thief Raiden seems to have had a rough few years of it since the Manhattan Incident of MGS2, now almost entirely comprised of cybernetic enhancements and replacement body parts even down to the white synthetic blood coursing through his veins. Meryl’s back too, although she seems to have fought the seven signs of ageing far better than Snake. She leads the new FOXHOUND unit, investigating Liquid’s private military companies (or PMCs) on behalf of the US army, looking to do through official channels what Snake has been asked as a personal favour.
But as well as reacquainting us with some familiar felons like Ocelot and good ol’ Vamp, Guns Of The Patriots also has a whole new set of adversaries up its proverbial sleeve. The Beauty and the Beast unit is comprised of four women suffering from post-traumatic stress and dealing with it in the only way they know how – by dressing up in amazingly literal mechanical armour suits based on the animal names of the original FOXHOUND unit. Obviously. Laughing Octopus, Screaming Mantis, Crying Wolf and Raging Raven are all set to appear as boss characters over the course of the game and should prove for a suitably varied quartet of showdowns.
The action takes its cues very much from the excellent Snake Eater in terms of approach, albeit with plenty of next-gen enhancements to ensure that Snake’s PS3 debut – and possibly only – outing is everything it can be. A selection of camera angles now cater for all kinds of players, offering a ‘classic’ third-person viewpoint, a Resi 4 style over-the-shoulder affair (which can be switched to either side on the fly) and even the opportunity to play through Snake’s eyes in first-person mode. Based around the motto ‘no place to hide’, you might think the emphasis has switched more towards action than tactical espionage. But from what we’ve seen so far, Guns Of The Patriots looks to have the same ‘How Not To Be Seen’ factor as its forerunners, even if you’ll be making your own hiding places in the ravaged landscapes much of the time.
To help with this, Snake has been given an Octocamo suit, a blend of the camouflage system introduced in MGS3 and the optical camo from the first two Metal Gear Solids. A dark grey in its neutral state, the chameleon-like outfit can match its surroundings provided Snake remains motionless for a few seconds while he blends in. This means you only need a few seconds to sneak past a guard and assume a decent position in order to become almost invisible – when it’s one man against an army as it is here, this kind of technology is going to be pretty much essential.
Technology helps out again in the form a little robotic sidekick for Snake, the Metal Gear Mk II. The wee dude can be sent off to recon an area before you risk putting your slightly more flimsy body in harm’s way and if anyone should get too close, he can even zap them with an electrical charge to incapacitate them. Elsewhere in Gadgetville, all of Snake’s old goggles, binoculars and such have been rolled into one to create the Solid Eye, an all-purpose mini telescope. But at the height of technology is Old Snake’s answer to the fact that hiding in a cardboard box was never particularly practical beyond fooling idiotic guards that you were cargo. Introducing the oil drum, whose list of hi-tech features includes being made of metal and offering a slightly more convincing hiding place in an war-torn urban environment than a random soggy cardboard box. Upgrading from box to barrel gives Snake a portable bulletproof hiding place, also capable of a nauseating rolling attack that sends foes flying and puts the Jackass boys to shame.
But if bowling soldiers over isn’t your thing, you’ll be glad to hear that there are plenty of other ways to do away with those pesky bad guys. Dropping pivotal foes from range is usually going to be the best way to free up their less canny brethren, leaving the stragglers to be dealt with as you see fit. A new and improved close quarters combat (CQC for those that abused the hell out of it in Snake Eater) should make it less ridiculously cheap and more rewarding but before you smack the poor guy about, it’s always good to scare the hell out of him first. Hold-ups are still in, now providing more than just a comic wiggle and maybe a ration if you’re lucky – Snake is able to strip ambushed enemies of both supplies and now information too. He’s been practising his banter, obviously.
Also interesting is that MGS4 will come packaged with the initial Starter version of Metal Gear Online, a 16-player team-based hybrid of MGS4’s single player concepts and control and the ingenious yet flawed online modes of the Splinter Cell series.
Teamwork and stealth are naturally both critical here but its through the upgrade system that MGO is really looking to distance itself from the myriad other team-based shooters out there already. Players can invest in upgraded CQC, distraction techniques and most interestingly hacking, which can be used to obtain information from the nanomachines within members of the opposite team. This can effectively reveal the location of the entire enemy force and it seems as though the concept is for teams to work together in establishing roles, with scouting players marking enemies for their allies so the brawlers can seek them out with ease and duff them up good. It’s conceptually excellent but whether it will be able to go head to head with the big boys of the online world won’t become apparent until release.
And to cap things all off nicely, Guns Of The Patriots is absolutely stunning. Both still and in motion, the game is crisp, clear and gloriously detailed but as usual, it’s not all in the visuals. Voice talent is largely drawn from the same pool that fuelled the previous games and will therefore meet the same high standards. And with Harry Gregson-Williams reprising his role in scoring (alongside fellow composer Nobuko Toda, who worked on MGS3 and several of the PSP spin-offs), you can expect the music to be as soaring, uplifting, cinematic and borderline pompous as ever. If this truly is to be the swansong for our old friend Snake then we can’t imagine a more fitting way for him to leave us – MGS4 could very well be the game that turns the tide for the PlayStation 3. And what a legacy that would be for Snake to take to his virtual grave. Fingers crossed, then, that the somewhat broad Q2 date isn’t too far off the mark…
