The Globe and Mail is already a better place to go for gaming reviews than everything on the web. I think that says enough. And they only review mostly those big titles like every other entertainment section of a newspaper website.

Are journalists in gaming just all failures at getting into somewhere else or are they simply just absorbed into a one-side-versus-the-other mindset? Maybe it's just because anyone involved in videogames has to be so 'me' all the time. I mean... ***k it's very sad.

Well, attacking the people behind the reviews like they couldn't even at least get a bachelor's degree is a little childish curryking, and more of a pathetic argument (pathetic=emotional) than pursuasive or informed one. With that in mind, they're people like you and I with a degree in journalism (probably) and an opinion. They're average dudes. Not like you have to have an IQ over 150 to determine how fun a game is, its strengths and weaknesses. That doesn't make them any more qualified than you or I about anything, because we all play games and have different sensibilities and tastes... When someone writes a review that is mostly pathetic (in both senses this time ;) ), you gotta just keep that in mind and move on. But curry saying they're losers with a C- average in school that had no where else to go but gaming journalism (sad state it is in) makes it seem like you think they just hand out game journalist positions to bums on the street.

Curry, there are two problems with our industry reviews.

1. All are hardcore elitist gamers. They can't review a casual properly game for nothing.

2. In the 1990's publishers began to offer incentives to their developers for high rated games. This lead to developers granting media sites easy access to exclusives and game media in exchange for good reviews. At the same time publishers were getting real heavy into media advertising which also demands for good scores. Soon every media site began adjusting their review score system so that a 50% no longer meant average like it should.

Now we're stuck with this system because any media outlet that uses the 50%=middle gets seen as overly negative or biased resulting in their ad funding gets pulled and exclusive info gets cut off.

The Europe PSN posted a 1080P direct feed version of the E3 trailer and this game looks amazing... I know some of the textures are not on the same level with Uncharted, but overall this could take the crown as the best looking PS3 title currently released. I'm doing my best not to view too much media, because I know it will spoil some of the story and surprises.

It's good Ninja Gaiden 2 drops next week so that should keep me busy until the 12th.

Yeah, the sales of the sequel tend to reflect the reception of the previous iteration in the series. MGS2 sold phenomenally because of 1 being so goddamned popular, and 3 sold less so (though some games wish they could sell 4 million copies) because a lot of people got rubbed the wrong way by 2.

I said hello to shinkawa and shook his hand. And then he passed your sleeve to kojima. I said hajimaemashite to him and he just nodded and shook my hand. He seemed he didn't want to say anything.
He then passed it onto Yumi. I said arigatou gozaimas and she replied with hai.
I was waiting there for 4 hours before we got our sleeves and then we had to wait some more so 8 hours altogether.
Olz was there for 12 hours altogether. The guys at the front of the queue had been there nearly 24 hours already when I got there.

I said hello to shinkawa and shook his hand. And then he passed your sleeve to kojima. I said hajimaemashite to him and he just nodded and shook my hand. He seemed he didn't want to say anything.
He then passed it onto Yumi. I said arigatou gozaimas and she replied with hai.
I was waiting there for 4 hours before we got our sleeves and then we had to wait some more so 8 hours altogether.
Olz was there for 12 hours altogether. The guys at the front of the queue had been there nearly 24 hours already when I got there.

So as Gegenki has pointed out, he and I were at the first signing in Oxford Street, London. I turned up at 00:00 and waited until 9:00am to get the sleeve, slowly watching the queue get bigger and bigger (it got huge). The 9 hours were pretty long but with so many MGS fans to talk to they went pretty soon. One guy at the front turned up at 8:00am the previous day to the event...pretty dedicated. Another guy had literally everything to do with MGS; art books, every MGS multiple times over including all the limited editions, soundtracks etc.

I shall post the pictures, and possibly the video, I took soon including one of the signed sleeve but for now I recommend you check out this (http://uk.games.konami-europe.com/blog.do) page. For a much better picture of Gegenki check out picture number 8, the guy in the blue hoodie (sorry if you didn't want that pointed out). I can just be seen in picture 3 but only very small. They made so many pictures and videos on the day and have barely put up any of it on their website. Punks!

After I shook Hideo's hand I was so tempted to do the Simpsons thing and never wash my hand again...what a legend. Once in a lifetime opportunity.

Thing is, the 40s Famitsu gave (except MGS4, which none of us can confirm yet) were ALL well deserved, as all games were, in fact, great games.

But I think, I know where you come from. I guess, if Konami was European or American and Kojima was Cliffy B, the game would not have gotten a perfect score! (albeit it being exactly the same game, line by line of code and art!)

FF12 is a total departure from all those other FF.
Vagrant's battle system was pretty unique.

Other games, not so sure.The only one I don't really get is Smash brothers...IMO, it improved upon the its previous games, with some cool new things--I don't see how it did anything particularly new besides add new characters...still one of the funnest games I've ever played though.

Soul Calibur was pretty official when it first came out. In fact, I think it brought a few people back to the good ol' street fighter in the arcade days. The ping-pong fast back and forth matches was just something different, fresh, and fun. Many other sites have given the first Soul Calibur outstanding reviews, for this one I can agree...

Nintendogs, for what's it's worth, was something completely different and new. Like a new generation of digpet or whatever--meh..I wouldn't have given it that high a score, but I still see what it's praised so heavily.

Wind Walker I think just did Cell shading right. IMO, it craps all over Twilight princess, and yeah--it was just a really well thought out--great adventure all the way through. I think it's graphics are still some of the most artsy of games...

MGS4 I'm sure has all types of easter eggs, deep storyline, and gameplay mechanics that make you just say ":huh:" just like the others.

Letting the End die because you take too long to actually win the fight...
THe whole psycho mantis fight--Dual Shock FUN!
Seeing cameos from other titles and famous models in magazines...

We've already seen some cool tidbits like controlling the baby metal gear with a PS3 controller and I'm sure there's a lot more of that in the game. Can't wait for this one...

Have the volume up high from start, the sound is the best for any game ever. Ever...
