Matt responds: The storyline for Eternal Darkness 2 is written. Silicon Knights has said that at some point they would like to make it. So if you were to ask me if I think it would be developed at some point, my answer would be yes. That noted, I have no proof yet that it's currently underway.

Awesome news...if its true. The storyline is complete so the likeliness of a sequel on the gamecube or at least the N5 looks great!

I've always felt we'll have the next ED after Too Human which is looking more and more like an N5 launch title.

i tell my friends to get it and they dont listen. I got it, but i think there was something wrong with my copy, so i unfortunately sold it. ( couldnt get past this one part near the end... tried every walkthrough and couldnt find out what i did wrong)...

I betcha anything you overlooked the most simple thing. I hate it when I do that. And then you try so many things and it takes forever and all you had to do was something so obvious that your brain bursts into flames.

^that probably is what happened lol. But i just convinced myself there was something wrong with the copy so i could sell it. I was stuck on that bald monk guy. That was the worst part of the game, not only because i got stuck.. but just because it was. The one that took place in the 1700s in the mansion was the greatest.

Hmmm. I don't understand what the excitement was about, it bored me pretty quickly. Then again I wasn't really found of the system, and the graphics were to pretty to give the game a creepy atmosphere to me.

I still think Resident Evil 1 is the best horror game so far on GC.

I bet it won't come out until its really old like 5 years old, or do another really innovative thing with the gameplay or graphics (like it was going to be for N64).

Remake is scarier overall, but ED had the only scene where I actually jumped out of my seat...literally(bathtub anyone).

unless they were working under ED2 in secret, I bet it might be a launch title for N5. That would be nice, and they would definitly get more attention since launch titles usually sell very well.

I don't really play horror games that much but Eternal Darkness just enveloped me. It had such a great story and lot's of different and interesting characters. My only gripe was that the game was a bit on the easy side (It only had two bosses!!!) I was kinda hoping for a fight with that tentacle thing but oh well. I also want a wider variety of levels, if I have to revist that damn Roman temple one more time....

"May the rats eat your eyes!!! I am now lost to your cause!!! The darkness comes...IT WILL DAMN US ALL!!!!" -Maxamillion Roivas.

Did you beat all three versions? Montarak.....well I don't want to spoil it. Just know that you may get your wish in the sequel.

The game has so many literary references in it and rhetorical devices in it, and i dont think many people realize that. Thats one of the main reasons why I think it is a good game and should be considered a classic.

Trust me, doing the last summon puzzle at the end 6 times over 3 times though the game, was not worth the " super secret" ending.

The final ending wasn't the greatest, I'll agree with that but it did give you insight to why so much hppened and was allowed to happen and what may be the basis for the sequel. Well, I go all that from it anyway.

I loved the game. I played through all the endings and wished there was more. It would've been so incredibly awesome if you could've controlled one of the giant beings in those space battles, but you had to sit back and watch :(

Same here. I rarely replay any game, anymore, even the great ones, but I couldn't help but play through with each... I want to call them "gods" but that's not what they were, but I forget what the game called them. I'd like to see the sequel, but the last I read suggests that it isn't even being started; that they have the story and all, but haven't started development. It might make for a killer N5 launch title, though.

Yah, I was going to call them gods too, but I didn't feel that was the right name for them. Ahhh...that's gonna bother me all day now.

They are called ancients

That was the word that first came to mind when I made that post, but I dismissed it because I thought it sounded wrong. Then, last night while at work, I was thinking more about the game and remembered that they were "ancients".

really hope they're making a sequel since I'm going to finish it today.. man it's agreat game!. I have been playing it for a couple of weeks together with my girlfriend... yes we were totally freaked out to by the bathtub bizniz. We couldn't play it for a few days after that :-)

Anyone tried playing it on a home cinema system? I got a projector at home and it's like ED was made for a 2 x 2 meter screen. It's wonderful, you get really sucked into the game and you see all the deatils you would struggle to find on a regular tv-screen... if you ever have 1500 bucks to spare buy a projector in case they'd release ED2!!

Anyway I'm gonna go home now and scribe that last pargon rune on the ninth tower and get it all over with... hehe (please tell me I've been guessing correctly to make a nine point summon creature spell... right?)

I loved this game and the only reason I decided to buy it (and wait for it's release) was the little screenshot on the back of the Gamecube box (with Pious). I'm glad I bought this. It's just so awesome, plus it quotes Poe, so bonus points for good taste.

Did anybody ever get that one insanity effect where the game pretends that you reached the end of the demo? That was funny, moments later, but for a brief time that was not very funny at all.

Happened after Karim almost everytime I played it.

I still loved the one where my head fell off. There I was...just walking along and PLOP! There goes my head. So what is a half-crazed man to do? I naturally picked it back up, but then it started reciting Shakespeare...

I don't want to drag this thread too far off track, though all of this is still Eternal Darkness-related, but another one I kinda liked is where bugs crawled around on my television screen. It almost has you trying to swat them off.
