View Full Version : Pokemon Colloseum (Or How Ever You Spell It.)
This is the thread to talk about PC (Pokemon Colloseum). Tell wether your getting or not getting it. And ask away questions because I'll probably know the answer since I own it now (yay!) I just got it today and it is great!

nah not getting it...it would never go over well with friends, plus the scores arent that astounding.
I might give it a rental though.
How is the RPG.
The RPG mode is the awesome part. It is great.

Most reviews are mixed but don't believe the reviews. Check this one out for yourself.

I'd get it if the RPG part was a lot bigger. I'm not too thrilled about the actual colosseum part. If I had more money coming at me, I'd probably get it anyways, but I have to be more conservative with my money as of late.

RPG mode is really pretty good... bad camera angles at times, but nothing that hurts the actual play of the game. Plus, you gotta love the fact that after the main storyline is done, any purified pokemon can be transferred to a ruby/sapphire version. It's been a long time since I've had a cyndaquil... :) ... or a Tyranitar. :D
It's possible to get everything you want out of the game with a weeks rental... given you play at least 6 hours a day with it.
Go for the females so you can breed them, cause there's still no Ditto.
I haven't even tried Colosseum mode yet... :(

My friend said that there's no announcer? What's up with that?

 The announcer in Pokemon Stadium gave the battles half of their fighting-in-an-area-in-front-of-a-huge-crowd feel. Without an announcer giving the play-by-play to the crowd, you might just as well be fighting in a backyard somewhere.

I know there's no announcer in RPG mode... I dunno if it's an option or not, or if it's only available in colosseum mode. There hasn't been an announcer for any of the RPG's to date, so that's understandable.
If I recall correctly, you could turn off the announcer in Stadium 1 and 2. So there should be a way to turn it on. But I doubt you'll hear it in the RPG.

I'm almost positive that the annoucer is in coloseum mode.

There is no announcer, I actually forgot all about it. The colossuem part of the game is it's weakest part as theres only a limited number of arenas, and not overly much freedom. Winning is lso pretty easy, I went through the hard stadium easily there wer one or wo somewhat hard trainers, bu only a few. There's no rental pokemon, which really sucks, espcially if you anda friend wnat to play but no R/S or no link or whatever. To top that off you can save parties to the game for colussuem mode either with GBA or from it's own RPG, but you can only have one party saevd at a time, which is retarded.
The RPG on the other hand is a whole other story. The RPG is very different, and in many ways not, from the GBA versions, and is pretty dam good. There are about 40 pokemon you can catch, a little over half are new, you can get yourself some legendary dogs, the game can be pretty funny, and it'll take atleast 10 hours. Sadly though the RPG starts off very slow because you can't catch pokemon for a little while, and actually purify one until over 1/2 of the adventure is actually over, which can be annoying, specially if you don't know you need go a special place to purify them.... The graphisc can be good at times, the locations don't look to bad, not too good either, the people are very, very blocky, and funny looking, but the fat little mayor is just funny to look at. Once you beat the game you can face any challenger again, so yiou can recatch a missed dark pokemon (I don't think you can fight the three underbosses again though, the ones with the dogs, not sure), and that's the game in a nutshell. The stadiums in the game itself give away cash prizes and a TM (although there's a set number, which is a little disappointing), and it's easier to get level matching foes up to about lvl 65 or so, which can only be done at the Elite Four in the GBA games. The music is odd, but i liked it actually, so although many times it doesn't actually fit, espcially the disco dancer who doesn't dance to disco music, it's not annoying, and goes with the mood, but no not the game. Purifying pokemon is NOT easy, and takes forever for the more powerful pokemon, so after you finish the game goign back to do so isn't very appealing. The biggest loss in the RPG is simply the missing side quests, there's not a single one, the game is 100% linear (although once or twice they are pretty vague and you have to go around the whole map until you discover where it was you were suppose to actually go). Overall though, the game is still worth owning if you like Pokemon games, and if you have other friends you want to battle, it's a must have (the pokemon are lifted directly from N64 it seems, but the moves themselves for the most part look great). I'd give it an 8.2 out of 10.
BTW anyone who is wondering about Ho-Ho (is that how u spell it?), the bird is in the game, all you have to do is beat all 100 trainers at Mt. battle and catch every dark pokemon and purify it (which is very tedius for pokemon that you already have in the GBA game), but if you want it, it's there.

I wouldn't be. Then again, I wasn't one for caring too much what people think about me. I have no problem with me, and if somebody else had a problem with my choices and selections, that's their problem to deal with. If I want something, I get it with no regard for the opinions of idiots.
I never buy it dosent look good. And even if i wanted it i wouldnt because if one of my friends found out that i had bought a Pokemon game...

Your friends would... what? If my friends had a problem with something like that, I'd have to tell them where to go and how to get there.
