See it here!

This will be Intel's venture into the 64-bit platform.

lol.....Great link from Anandtech.com

Ps.- Intel will be releasing a 64-bit chip ,we just do not know when, or what it will look like. Prescott , the new "Pentium 4" will be dumped in favor of a new core. We assume it will be "Tejas" .

hahaha, nice scheme. MS has been getting away with kind of stuff for years.

So there will leave behind the Pentium name and use Prescott for now on? Or will they have a 32-bit P5 also?

You will not see a pentium 5 used for a while.

Prescott is the core of the processor code name. The current is "northwood" for the pentium 4.

The 64-bit processors are not fully 64 bit. They are nativly 32bit processor, but have the ability to run 64bit code. This way, you can quickly run 32bit code, and also run 64bit code. If you have a pure 64-bit processor, the processor has to emulate a 32bit mode for 32 bit code. This hurt performace, and intel's diing "Itantium" or "Itanic" knows.

The Pentium 5 was actually going to be Prescott, but it is actually slower than the Northwood cored Pentium 4 . Maybe the "Tejas" core will carry the Pentium 5 stamp.

Will this be better then the AMD ones that are out at the time? Or is this going to be something that is going to take time for AMD to catch up? I like the AMD prices though.

AMD chips will most likely be better as they will have the head start on the x86-64 technique. it seems the more intel "works" on a chip the worse it gets.

Well, I suppose intel could add a purcolator into thier heatsinks to serve up a hot cup of java. I wonder in Sun tech will invest in this idea....lol.
