View Full Version : Sony's Last Pre-Launch Presser

We've heard the rumblings for quite awhile now, but it wasn't official until today. Sony is holding one last press gathering before the launch of the Playstation 3.
The Gamer's Day event, an invitation to "preview the beginning of the next generation", will take place on Thursday, Oct. 19 in San Francisco and feature a round-table discussion, executive presentations and a half-day of hands-on gaming time.
I suspect Sony will have most, if not all, of their launch titles on hand for playtime as well, perhaps, as some early builds of later games.
This has also got to be the event where Sony dishes the details on PSP connectivity and the PS3's online capabilities. I'm psyched... and going. Brian Crecente

I seem to recall Gurella saying to expect something around halloween. Maybe KZ2 will make an appearance.

I know, this has me excited now at the thought of getting to maybe see a playable build of the game. I dont know what to think though. Other than the prospect of KZ Im not sure what else they may talk about. Maybe Online or Linux distro's. Here's to hoping though :beer: .

I'm sure that if they show it, it'll look great but we're instantly going to see threads like "downgrade!!!", "it doesn't look like CG!!!!", "Killzone looks like a turd!!!" and derivatives.

Finally Sony will show all it's cards regarding the PS3!!
Obviously it's not to say that's all PS3 will offer as there will be many upgrades during the lifetime of PS3 just like with the PSP.

Killzone 2 - This one has been MIA since last years E3. It is still in development and it is, unequivocally, the PS3s big "secret weapon." Announcements are being held back until closer to the PS3 launch as it's going to generate a monumental amount of buzz. It's one of those things that I can't get into too much detail about. However, it looks exactly like the video. Yeah. That video.

I wouldnt say its a sure thing. I just remembered gurella saying there would be something around halloween.I didn't mean they could show it now either, but it would be nice... as long as it doesn't look way too off compared to the E305 teaser (so much that most people would say it's "PS2 quality").
I honestly don't expect Guerrilla to show anything until next year. Around the time of the European launch could be nice, as long as it looks decent.

No I specifically remember gurella commenting on this. I cant provide a link or anything like that, because it was some time ago (1 or 2 months), but never the less we shall see when the time comes.
I just want the launch line-up and Online info.

I hope this show will let everyone finally just be ready for launch. It will be nice to see madden and I bet they announce that resistance is 1080p at the event. Hopefully they explain the online system and the RSX so that MILR is happy and me to. After todays controller announcment I think we can lay rumble to rest. Anyway here is my list:
1. Online
a. I don't want to know sh8t besides that the dev have it and are happy
b. a little info for us would be nice to
2. Box
a. PS3+SixAxis and whatelse
b. USB charger cord, prepackaged content like Stringer said
3. Games
4. Peripherals

Yes, Guerilla said they don't want to release any more KZ info until Liberation launches on Halloween. But the dev did say to expect more info "around then". So, since Sony owns them I'm sure they will release it during this gig.

It's a launch party. The 19th is in the states also, In San Fran I believe. I think it's when all the beans will be spilled. I got the same e-mail. It's for 10 lucky winners to submit "why pick me" pix, vids, essays, etc. to them and they win a pre-launch PS3.

Well, I'd like to see some Heavenly Sword right about now... and.. uhh......................... Killzone..... oh man I want to see the next gen Killzone so badly, I don't care how it compares to the CG, I just want to see some Killzone in some hawt ass graphics on the PS3.
I also wish there will be something saved on the HDDs like game/movie trailers. 1080p pictures (they demonstrated this before), maybe some exclusive PS3 backgrounds, DTS HD/Dolby HD audio tracks (songs or whatever) and what not.

you know, a little something to mingle over.Yeah, I'd love some HD content and game demos included in every pack, and I think it's a given. I guess it would be cheaper for Sony to include that in the HDD, but they have to promote Blu-ray. In any case, I hope 90% or more of the room in the HDD is available for the users.

Looks like there will be a number of PS3 events from here to launch :) An European one on the 14th (not a public one I believe), an American one on the 19th (public one) and yet another one on November 8th, some kind of pre-launch event. I'm not sure whether these three dates are accurate, but we'll have two great months.

yeah, I really want Killzone no matter how it ends up looking- because I know it is going to rock, at the least!
Killzone is exactly the kind of setting I love my FPS to be in. I don't like the all-futuristic-flashlight ans laser work weapons. and I don't like pre-historic powder lighters either. I like contemporary good ol' boomsticks and near futuristic ones. the FPS I am hoping will turn out great are Interstellar Mariens, KZ, Haze and Front Lines (if I remember the last one currectly). I love that urban settings with hard bullets as ammo instead of 'plasma packs'.
and yes, contrary to some here, I love FPSs and I love EA! now give me some sugar!

Thanx for the link and the welcome, probably won't post that often though. But this is imo the best PS3-forum and I felt it was time I registered ;).

I already pre-ordered Resistance and MotorStorm. that is why I didn't included it. it is a sure-purchase. ;)
