Its becoming such a comon thing latley you see it all in the magazines, and I was chatting to a few of my work mates about it, and you compare yourself to them, and you feel, well slightly large, can you imagine what this is doing to impressionable teens, but seriously you guys cant find this attractive..?

Yeah I couldnt get it any bigger, if you look closer she's really skinny. The Kate Bosworth one, they did a whole "Sepparated at birth" with ET, was kinda funny. One of the guys at work said he found it attractive, and he was being serious, thats what pushed me to ask.

Portman is a Vegan(sp), so it's understandable why she's so damned raily (she was also skinny as a kid). The others... well, not eating will do that to a girl. Dammit, eat something, a sandwich, a steak, a dorrito!!!

No, it's absolutely unattractive. This one girl I used to like was bulemic and anorexic and I kept telling her to get help and she wouldn't so I stopped talking to her. Then she saw a doctor and fixed her problem and she's cool again.

I like girls with a healthy body. I don't like big girls, but girls with a little meat are just fine.

It's all about the curves, really. If you're that skinny, they won't be there and you're going to look somewhat freakish. On the flip side, though, if you have rolls anywhere on your body... thats just a little too much.

Personally I couldnt stave myselef to look like that, and my boyfriend would go berko and make me eat. But Nicole's boyfriend is being really good apparently, trying to get her to eat more which is a very very good thing.

Agreed, I've always thought she was hideous, she is just plain unattractive. I don't know how she got into the public eye as this beautiful person, she is just plain fugly. But look at her father. I was watching VH1 the other day and they were doing that Best Week Ever show, which is pretty funny, and she was on some talk show saying how she doesn't think that people should make fun of her for being to skinny because people don't make fun of those who are overweight.....what a fucking idiot.

And no, that's definately not attractive, with the exception of Kiera POSSIBLY, tough to tell just how skinny she is with that dress.

Well every one i know thinks im really skinny, but most of my friends are actuall thinner than me! I admit i dont have much of a stomach, but my arms & legs are chunky as!

I think its good to be alittle bulky as long as its tone muscle and not flab! but being stick thin is a media-made health hazard!

My point was not that one should make fun of people who are overweight, it was that if she really believes that nobody does make fun of those who are unfortunately, due to either genetics or their own fault, overweight, then she is oblivious to the world around her. I'm not very quick to blame geneology. You don't see massively obese apes that die of heart failure far earlier than their natural lifespan, and they're almost exactly like humans genetically. It's the way our society works, in that so long as someone have a job there is no need for them to do the physical activity needed to burn off what they eat. Of course, to lose weight one has to work off more than they eat which is very hard, but not impossible.

Conversely, though, people can respond to the pressures of society by becoming EXTREMELY unmotivated and may very well begin to look at that pint of ice cream as their only respite from said pressures. A lot of the time, merely being fat and getting teased about it will make individuals eat even more...

or, to quote Fat Bastard:

Either way, my opinion is that people need to just NOT care so much about what other people think about them. Sure, you're going to care a little bit but don't let it affect you to the point of developing an eating disorder. I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for the people who end up in those kinds of situations.

Exactly my point, I don't agree with either of the two extremes, but while heavier people generally become social pariahs due to their disease, people who are extremely thin are embraced by society. That's why I would feel sympathize with those who are overweight before those who are bordering on skeletons.

On a side note, I believe anybody that starves themselves for public and media approval is an absolute moron anyway.

Briteny Spears had just over $100,000 worth of Plastic Surgery dont to get her back to an attractive state... the shupid thing, shes had two babies in the space of a year, thats bad for your body, you have to give things time, but they dont seem to care, which I personaly think is very stupid.

Yep, I agree, I remember seeing something in TV Guide I think it was, can't remember, but when Britney Spears was still touring, she spent $150,000 a month on plastic surgery to keep up her appearance, what a load. From dermabrasions to chemical peels, to everything else.

No of course its not attractive, infact he vast majority of people will agree that its downright unhealthy. The only reason models tend to be so thin is because as most designers will say "the clothes fit better" - of course this shrewd piece of fiction feeds directly into hollywood and eventually the rest of society(on some level) through the media.

The simple truth is that no one is particularly interested in either the anorexic of the morbidly obese. Everyone's expectations fall somewhere in the middle, though lets not kid ourselves that "middle" slants to the thin side.

On a side note, I believe anybody that starves themselves for public and media approval is an absolute moron anyway.

I wouldnt jump to that conclusion now, afterall I may not have cared and maybe you were the same as well but most kids in highschool are constantly under peer pressure to fit in. The difference is in HS you might be ostricized for a bit but in Hollywood it means not getting as many acting roles. Considering what the average payoff from a movie or commercial or whathaveyou happens to be I cant sympathise that much, but still.
