I Registered my interest, its looking like the PSP craze, where prices will go sky high (cant be higher than Ebay lol) but you wont pay a dime until it has been secured for you and you confirm your order.
thanks Goki. but I am trying to find me an NTSC model from a site that shipps internationally. :)
^^ I do believe they will have both US and Jap (arent both NTSC anyway only EU and Aus NZ are Pal to my knowledge)

japan are SEACAM.
eu AUS and nz use phase alternating line (PAL)
Ah yes, now I remember. Im guessing this only applies to BR movies though, as the games have been confirmed as region free right?
Im sure most TV's today can take all the different signals nowadays. I have a 10yo Panasonic TV with Wooden frame that still plays my chipped PSX with both PAL, SECAM and NTSC.

Extra note: Be prepared that day-1 prices will unfortunately be much higher than the manufacturers suggested retail price, simply for the fact that our purchase cost itself will be much higher than the SRP too.
Count me ... OUT!
pssh like I could afford a PS3 anytime soon lol

France is SECAM which is similar to PAL in some respects. Japan like the US uses NTSC.

Quote from Lik-sang:
Long story short, we can only extend to you the offers that we get, while waiting for the market to stabilize. But that's the beauty of the No Money Down Special Pre-Order system, you can always ignore day-1 prices and wait for a few more days, a few more weeks, or even several months, until the price goes down to an acceptable level. Without ever losing your pre-order position!

sorry I didn't make that clear:
NTSC/US is for North America.
NTSC/J is for Japan.
and yes, I meant waiting for a NA model.

Lik-sang sells both NA and Asian versions of everything.
ah, that's great then. I'll check with them and a couple of others like Amazon and see what is a better deal. although I won't get it before at least a month after launch, I may still be able to catch one before March- hopefully ;p.

I'm just lucky that I forgot to delete my Lik-sang pre-order!

Ill wait for March. Someone reserve the Raitei tag for me please :P
Id rather the console were fully compatible with stuff i buy in my region (i dont think anyone is completely sure on all the region locks)
great! I pre-ordered. glad to see they are taking only one pre-order per customer. that and you can hold off your purchase or edit it once stock arrives. you don't have to pay anything if you don't like the price.
I looked at Amazon and they don't take pre-orders yet. Play-Asia is only selling the Japanese versions. if anyone finds any other site that ships internationally had has options for both versions, please let us all know. :)
I pre-ordered a PS3 and two games: Resistance and MotorStorm.
I want to pre-order more like Lair, Heavenly Sword and others but I guess they are too far off. that and their current game choices aren't that many. hopefully that will change soon- soon as in after the Oct. event).
Ok so i just want to make this clear once again, Is Japan DVD region 2 DVD (and Blu RAY) compatible with EU DVD players (and BLU RAY players ala PS3) ??

Not the BD movies, but I don't doubt that Datel will come out with a region-free player in no time. Especially now that we have Linux, an open platform.
BTW: If you like american/asian movies, you'll want a US/JP PS3. The EU BD(HD-DVD)-players are only compatible with Africa...
