Found a very interesting post at beyond3d:

Dude I can vouch for the original posters comments and I have my own pictures to back it up. I don't know what regional manager you talked to but they lied big time. I am a manger that was also at the conference I wish that I had taken more than my 1.3 mega pixel cell phone to take pictures of the proceedings. Anyway to authenticate that there was both a blu-ray presence and that Gears of War was great (but no PS3 game) I came away with a little info that may be useful here.

1) The reason that the PS3 already looks as good if not better than the 360 ((according to Valve(Half-Life 2) and Vivendi(F.E.A.R.))) from the booths was that the Cell processor was orignally going to be a graphics processor as well for the PS3 (yes there were originally going to be two in the system) but the developers at the show stated that once NVIDIA joined the Sony ranks they backed off of that plan and decided to let NVIDIA build the RSX instead. Now this is where the rub is though (form the developer's mouths not mine) although the RSX (PS3 graphics card) and the XENOS (XBOX360 graphics card) are comparable the ability to use the Cell to share the rendering of textures and special effects gives the PS3 a decided advantage and that difference will only grow as time passes.

2) Microsoft did have a respectable presence at the show with HDVD. Peter Moore was there and they sponsored our dinner Friday night where they unveiled both the ZUNE (iPOD killer which will be on sale at Gamestop or EB near you just in time for the holidays) and the XBOX360 HDVD drive (which will retail for 199.99 and comes with a copy of King Kong on HDVD and will launch Nov 14). Sony countered this announcement with one of their own though that as of yet I have not seen leaked anywhere else and that is.......(as announced by the lady at the blu-ray booth during our show)....Talladega Nights on BLU-Ray will be included with every PS3 at launch. Also to note after the Microsoft dinner well all got to go hands on with HDVD, Zune, Gears of War (Mulitplayer), WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007, Splinter Cell D.A., Lost Planet, and some others that I didn't get to play. They were all good and seemed near final builds.

3) As far as PS3 presence goes Sony had the biggest display with Resistance, NBA 07 ( which later became Resistance after nobody wanted to play NBA), Genji, and Motorstorm. Sega had a booth to note which had Virtua Fighter 5 (in video form only) and more interestingly Sonic playable on both PS3 and XBOX360 side by side. One of the managers asked why the PS3 version looked better as far as lighting and contrast and accused Sega of connecting the 360 version up with composite cables and the PS3 with HDMI to make the difference hit home. At which point the rep showed us all that both units were connected with component cables and running on the same make and model television. The skeptics accused him of lying even after he turned the monitors to reveal both rear connections. He later stated that again the difference was the Cell and not the video card at the time.

Why Talladega Nights? Why not a prettier movie like say Lady in the Water, or heck I'll take Spiderman 2 again if I have to.

Eh? Seems like they said the opposite. Am I missing something?I should clarify this one. At the Leipzig Games Convention in late August, it was said that 360's Sonic version was noticeably superior than PS3's. However, another Sega title (Virtua Tennis 3) looked noticeably better on PS3 than on 360. Now it looks like someone confused which version was which, because I wouldn't believe Sonic on PS3 improved so much in less than two months to the extent that the seemingly inferior version becomes the superior version. Or maybe yes, who knows.

What's Talladega Nights have to do with NASCAR?

No more than Wedding Crashers has to do with weddings in my book, or 'Old School' has to do with frat houses. It's just a backdrop. Talladega Nights is hilarious, and I've never seen a NASCAR race.

Talladega Nights is a Sony / Columbia movie and a quite big sucess in the US Box Office. Certainly why Sony is bundling it with the PS3. Sure, not everyone will be happy with it but heh It's free. :D

My preference would have gone for Batman Begins! :D

EDIT:

Of course, I suspect this is only for the US market where this movie was the most popular by far!

they might throw in a BD movie to makret them, though I would guess a demo BD that includes movie and game trailers and also pics all in 1080p. of course there would be downgrading options for the sorry asses with no 1080p TVs (like yours truely).
but I thought if there was a BD movie, why not just save everything on the HDDs? that is what I think.

I'll be happy if they include a demo BD, an entire BD movie, or HDD saves. if ther is a BD, I hope I can save its contents on the HDD.

if there is a full featured movie, I don't care what it is as long as it shows off 1080p glory. and what better way to show off pic quality than having a truck load of visual FX and fireworks tearing up the screen?
show me alot of explosions and crazy cinamatics and CG and I'll be one happy customer. :)

Batman Begins is a Warner Bros movie though. It obviously is going to have to be a Sony studios movie to get in there for free, not to mention it has to be something PG-13 or under.

Sweet baby Jesus, I wish this was true, but due to it being extremely explicit and offensive there is no way in HELL or otherwise this would be bundled. LET ME REPEAT. Sweet baby Jesus, I wish this was true, but due to it being extremely explicit and offensive there is no way in HELL or otherwise this would be bundled.

It's about a NASCAR driver yeah, and he races simply because he loves to race, gets challenged by a superior Frenchman who beats him, finds hisfather who inspired him to race, and loses his wife to his NASCAR buddy who's an idiot. Inspirational to many oversexed speed freaks.

I loved the movie by the way.

Yeah, it's obvious Talladega's only in there because it was Sony's highest grossing US movie of the year. That said I'd much rather have had Monster House on BD, it would have been a much better showcase movie (visually).

I was just seeing the Top Ten in the box office, and damn, The Covenant looks kick-ass!

I want a movie like that with alot of special FX and cinematics. give me Constantien, LotR, Blade, Van Hellsing, Kingdom of Heaven, anyting with alot of sparks.

anybody know what latest Sony 'FX focused' movies came out? don't tell me Ultra Violet or that woman catching a fly with her eye. those movies are very horrible...

regardless of how long it stayed in the top ten, if it is good enough then I am sold. I am a huge Van Hellsing fan though I think it didn't really last long in the top ten. as for The Covenant, could it be worse than Ultra Violet? because with that movie, I just fast forwarded to the action scenes. I could at least do that with the Covenant, right?

Better yet, how about just a coupon redeemable for a free sony Blu-Ray title?
hmm, that could be another option. they did that with free demo disk for PS2- and maybe PSOne too. although some shipments got disk bundles, others had you fill your address and they would send you one. they also did this with the Network adaptor where you filled in a request and gotten TM:Black Online.

but although that is a good decision from a cost effective stand point, is i better for marketing and consumers? maybe having a BD ready out of the box has a better and immediate impact then having some of the buyers sending in orders and getting their replies weeks later. although with the second choice they would possibly have choice between a few candidates.

maybe the whole point is to show how good looking BD movies are regardless of the actual movie. just like PSP's movie choice, they could have put anmything there for a technical demonstration, although having something as action packed as Spider Man sure helped drive the point home.

I'll be happy with anything man, this would be my very first BD movie. that is enough excitement for me to accept anything. lol

this is fishy.....

Because the street release date for Talladega Nights is December 12. (for both DvD and Blu-Ray)

That would give PS3 users almost a month with the movie, before it hits the street.

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Bundles/PlayStation_3/PS3_Rumor_Mill:__Free_Talladega_Nights_Blu-ray_to_be_Bundled_with_PlayStation_3/284

Making this rumor somewhat more fishy, however, is the fact that 'Talladega Nights' is currently slated for release on both Blu-ray and standard DVD on December 12 -- nearly a month after after the November 17 PlayStation 3 launch. While it's possible that Sony might give PS3 owners an early peek at the flick, a four week gap seems unlikely.

We've reported before on rumors that Sony might bundle one or more free Blu-ray movie titles with some of their early PS3 game titles in an effort to introduce the next-gen dvd format to the masses.

With no official comment from Sony, whether or not either of these rumors are based on fact remains to be seen. When (and if) any of this information is confirmed, we'll let you know. As always, stay tuned...

I guess we will wait and see.

Rated PG-13 for crude and sexual humor, language, drug references and brief comic violence.

Although anybody under 13 who gets a playstation will probable need help setting it up, thus the parents shoudl be there to oversee everything.

even if it was released a month earlier, it seems that the bundle games and movies are a marginally old. Spidy 2 was released, what, few months before PSP shipped? and I am seeing PS2 bundles with games like Killzone and what not. I think this movie is a little too early for them to pick it up.

also keep in mind that there might not be a movie bundled at all. I think we'll see HDD bundles of teasers, trailers and pics more than a free BD movie. I wish they would add DTS-HD and Dolby-HD audio tracks and themes and wallpapers for PS3's main interface. :)
