Hmm. There are a few options
Obviopusly, they'll be cheaper on the internet most of the time, but if they're too expensive here are the options i can offer.
1. Ebay (......i wouldnt reccomend)
2. Get a cheaper Juke box. THere are others which are very good value for the money. For example, creative and dell both make them. I'll get links later. Because they get rid of some unneccercary HDD space and some useless features they are a lot cheaper.

Get either WinAMP or QCD
DON'T use Windows Media Player.
QCD (http://www.quinnware.com)
WinAMP (http://www.winamp.com)
I used Winamp, but both are good. MP3>WMA

No, much to the chagrin of Microsoft the iPod does not support the Windows Media format currently, and Apple has said they have no intention of doing so. Although using Microsoft's format makes sense because of its widespread use, I think Apple's doing the right thing. AAC is a better format, and it's not proprietary.
I have a 40 GB iPod that my parents got me for Christmas. It's amazing, but unfortunately the stereo in my car died so I've gotten less use out of it lately. I use it to store calendars and contact information in addition to music. I even used it to back up my hard drive before an OS upgrade.
