I just found out the other day that one of my best friends had ALL 3 of the Donkey Kong Country games and I just about spazzed. I made him let me borrow all three but they ended up sitting at my desk for a long-ass time. I haven't had much time at all for games because of school and work. Well I finally beat the first game about an hour ago and it brought back some good memories.... *flashback to younger years* ahhhh

It's a tough call for me between the second and third, but I kinda like 2 the best. It had the best player from the first game and Dixie who could hover! There was the added addition of animals like the spider and now-playable Squacks (sp?). The 3rd one was still really awesome because it had even more new animals and I loved trying to figure out how to get the DK coin in each level. Also, those banana birds are funny looking :D

I beat the first one, but never played the 2nd or 3rd one... I never ever see them when I surf EB's or other gamestores for SNES games tho :/

you know it's funny because I was just about to post that if someone came in here saying they never played the games that I would severely beat them to a near-death bloody pulp with my own liver. *gets out the scalpel* You better play those games peasantlover!!

I'd like to get these games, especially the original. I loved the first one the best, and it still rates very high among my fondest and most memorable gaming experiences.

I didn't like the other Kongs that you play as in the second and third ones. It didn't feel right to me without you playing as Donkey Kong himself.

Both Donkey and Kiddy were a little slow for my tastes. Diddy and Dixie both excelled in speed. The animals and levels were the coolest, and the soundtrack was the best.
I still hum the song from Lockjaw's Locker, Bramble Scramble, Hornet Hole, Barrel Bayou, and one of the most beautiful pieces of music from the 16-bit era, and any game ever - the song from the main mast stages.

I agree. The first one was the best, but the others were still pretty good.

I loved them all. Classic games,
2 is the best, and the toughest. I think anyone who's beaten the squacks part of animal antics will agree.

Not only were they all great games, but they shown a mastery with graphics and audio ability. The games looked amazing for the SNES and the soundtracks were beautiful. When I first played the original, I was blown away by the look of the game, as it appeared almost as though I could reach out and actually touch the characters, enemies, and stages, as though they were clay or plastic models walking around in front of me.

AMEN TO THAT!! I just loved the music and graphics in those games. RARE was at the top of their game, so to speak, back in the day. Those games are classics in my book.
