I don't think we ever had a real thread about Ouendan, which is disappointing considering what an amazing game it is. But now it's finally (sort of) coming out in the US, with different characters, stories, songs... well, everything except the gameplay is different, actually.
For those of you who don't know anything about it, it's a rythm game in which you tap targets, follow lines, and spin spinners on the touch screen in time with music. The Japanese title translates to "Go! Fight! Chear Squad," and you do, in fact, play as a group of Japanese male cheerleaders (Ouendan troops are something they actually have in Japan) who help ordinary citizens by dancing.
As you play, your "life bar" goes down. When you miss targets, it goes down more. But when you hit them correctly it goes up, depending on how close to perfect you hit them. Depending on whether your life bar is above or below a certain point determines whether the story goes well or badly. If it drops all the way to the bottom, you lose.
Here's a video of me playing. Keep in mind, I was playing AROUND the camera tripod, so it's a bit akward and harder than normal. You might have to turn up the volume a bit. My camera's kinda quiet.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XViWQTmZawU
0:17 - This is the difficulty selection menu. Each difficulty is a different Ouendan troop. The bottom is the easiest. You'll see the top one in a few minutes... For now, I'll do Medium.
0:26 - This is the song/level selection. At the beginning, only one level is availble, then by beating that, you unlock more, and so on. Each difficulty has the same levels, but the layout/speed/number of targets gets harder. Each icon on the map is the face of the person you're helping. A lot of the characters appear in each other's stories, which is cool.
0:37 - The story, if you can't understand it from the manga-style intro, is that basically, the town is invaded by alien robots, and you have to help two cops save everyone.
1:38 - This song is is "Shanghai Honey" by Orange Range. That bar on the top is the life meter. As long as it doesn't get to the very bottom, you still "win" the level, but you get more points by keeping it near the top.
2:19, 3:03, 3:47 - These are checkpoints. If the life bar is yellow when you get there, the story goes well, and you get a circle. If it's red, you get an X and the story goes bad (ie, the policemen get attacked by the robots).
4:34 - Then this is the results screen. The graph shows how high your life meter was throughout the song.
4:49 - Now for a Hard difficulty level.
5:00 - Boy meets girl at fair. Girl's father doesn't approve of boy. Challenges blue team (boy) to a race. Boy's teammates abandon him. Boy calls... Ouendan!
5:53 - "Melody" by 175R. One of my personal favorte songs in the game.
6:27, 6:55, 7:24, 7:52 - Checkpoints.
9:05 - Would you look at that! Insane difficulty is a group of American-style cheerleaders! Too bad you'll have to wait for part 2.
==================================================
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wJlhExkjjM
0:13 - Boy and girl in school. Boy tells girls he loves her. Boy is attacked by rival. Rival challenges boy to game of dodgeball. Boy is small and weak. Girl announces winner will take her heart. Sounds kinda like the last one, now that I think about it.
1:09 - "Thrill" by Tomoyasu Hotei.
1:45 - I screwed up on purpose so you could see what happens when you miss a checkpoint, I swear.

Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kimHycdlbxA
0:15 - Back to Hard mode. I can't do Insane mode while watching over a camera.
0:25 - The main character is campaigning for some sort of office. His rival is campaigning, but through scantily clad women and afros.
1:25 - "Taisetsu na Mono" ("Important Things") by the B'z.
