Considering the drought of news is pretty much over, I'm not sure that this deserves its own thread, but here it goes anyway:

Asustek to produce PS3 for Sony in 4Q, Foxconn to follow next quarter (http://www.digitimes.com/systems/a20061023PB203.html)
Apple Daily, October 23; Carrie Yu, DigiTimes.com [Monday 23 October 2006]

Asustek will be the major supplier for Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) for the fourth quarter of 2006, with Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry), to ship PS3s to Sony starting from February and March 2007, according to the Chinese-language Apple Daily. This will surely help reduce the shortages.

I thought we knew this over the summer, that Foxconn and Asustek are producing the PS3. I was under the impression they had already started.

Raijin, I don't know, but I would guess that they produce parts, not the whole thing, probably the computer chips.

I'd say places like ASUS and Foxconn, probably make the motherboards, and controllers and assemble the processors onto the boards.
