I wanted to create a thread about the upcoming release of the PS3 on November 17th. Of course this means that many of us in North America/Japan will begin camping out on the 16th and some even earlier. It will be cold and a very long wait. Many of these lines that will get formed will require teamwork (bathroom brakes, company, etc...).

I will try to camp out starting on the 16th and I will be bringing a couple of friends (hopefully) to join me. I thought it would be a good idea for those that want to...to post where you are going to camp out (general location) and if other members are going to be in the same locale then maybe those idividuals can join up.

It will give you a chance to meet your fellow forum members as well as camp out with people that you kind of know (through e-empire) along with your own group of friends of course. Anyways...this is not a contract of any sorts. In fact I myself might change my mind but here goes I'll start if off. (close thread if already done before)

I'll be camping out in the Northern Virginia location. I don't know where but I'll have to do some research as to the best spot.

I'll be camping at either Best Buy or Walmart, I haven't decided which yet. The only reason I would go with Walmart is because there's a 24 hour one so I could be inside instead of in the freezing cold. I'll be in Toledo.

Why would you camp out for a wii? Aren't they shipping 2 million of those here, I can't see casual gamers camping out for a wii.

I was considering camping out to obtain more than one PS3, but we are having an early winter and it's going to be damn cold come November 17th...
If the weather continues to get colder than expected, I don't plan on camping to obtain additional PS3s.

Also, I recently landed a huge promotion at work and was already making good money, now I'm making damn good money! ;) No need to be greedy trying to obtain extra PS3s for Ebay. Peace

I'll either be in Lafayette, IN or in Attica, IN if my Pamida is getting some....I need to remember to ask them, and I know some people there maybe they could hold one for me.

^ It's possible, but unlikely considering the average Gamestop receive anywhere from 6 to 14 consoles... I would imagine the average Bestbuy should receive between 20-30 consoles, now if you live in the boonies that's another story...

^ Here our Eb games are all recieving around 6 units, and the Future Shop should be getting around 6 - 8 so Im not surprised. Hell, I knew what the odds were when I decided I wanted a PS3 on launch. But if you want something bad enough, you'll find a way to get it... and I will have a PS3 on Nov 17th whether I get the one and only unit at my store, its fact not fiction what I would do for this system.

sadly the INITIAL # is always more than you think. our best buy was allotted 40 xbox360's on launch (in our shipping numbers). we saw something like MAX 30. and the second shipment we saw was 402 to be exact i think. I have no faith in sony telling the right numbers. they want JUST enough to keep people trying. admittingly as shady as what M$ did last year. but it was shown to work.

Anyway I'm in NoVA as well; camping plans as yet indeterminate.

@Nameless: Congrats on the promotion!

Wireless Data network engineer...

At one time I was involved with moble gaming on the BREW platform via openGL, but just not enough money in it...

I would love to get back into gaming, but It's hard to make big bucks in the industry, Ask Cpi...

I'm camping out in Denver, CO. I think my local BestBuy has wifi, so that will make my wait far far more fun.

well, considering that it is getting a lot of positive news from the press, its the shopping season, and my eb sold out of reserves within minutes, its probably a good idea. I am willing to bet that it will be harder to find then the GC was.

Anyone thinking of walking into the Sony Store?I was thinking of calling them to find out how they would be handling the launch. I would love to get it from the Sony Store. It would make it that much more cooler.
