Antiperspirant PS3 Controllers
Just in case you sweat when you play.
by Anoop Gantayat

October 24, 2006 - And here we were thinking ourselves all alone in our fears of sweat getting in the way of precision control over Sony's upcoming launch epic, Resistance. There's apparently been enough interest in a controller that fights perspiration that Logitech is making such a product available to PS3 owners shortly after the Japanese launch.

Logitech, or Logicool, as the brand is known in Japan, will release the Game Controller Chill Stream for the PS3 to Japan on 12/7, about a month following the system's 11/11 launch. The selling point (and namesake) of the Chill Stream is a built in fan which cools your hand down as you play. The fan can be set to Off, Low or Hi settings.

The device also promises a D-pad with easier-to-push buttons and a soft grip. But who cares about these bullet points? Built in fan for the win! Maybe the fan will make the control -- dare we say it -- rumble just a bit!

Surprisingly, despite the built in cooling system, the Chill Stream will retail for the tax inclusive price of 4,480 yen (about $38), less than the 5,000 yen Sony is asking for the official Sixaxis controller. Importers can look for the new controller in black and silver varieties.

I remember playing a similar kind of controller for the Xbox many months back. The grips were full of holes through which air blew out to cool your palms, and it absolutely kicked ass.

Hopefully is comfy, and not a gimmick.

Logitech is a very realiable company, and you should have nothing to worry about. These have also been out for quite some time, so it shouldn't be a problem making them 1337...I'm just surprised they will be out so soon after launch.

"maybe the fan with make the controller rumble a bit" LOL-I don't see why gamers don't just throw some rumble in there when all 3rd party controller will still feature it....

My ex has one of the PS2 cooling controllers and its actually quite lovely.

Honestly, nothing grosses me out more than touching a controller (or worse, a mouse) that has been warmed by someone else and is sweaty. I can't even use it...

Logitech makes fantastic products :)

I don't really sweat too much when I play though so this doesn't really mean a whole lot to me :-p

Why would you piss on your DS2?

Glad the hand coolers are coming to the PS3.
